it's gonna be gr8, m8

I said redpill, not shill.

chances are, it's going to have some growing pains, and the early adopters are stepping into a dangerous minefield that must be walked through.

It's gonna be shit for anyone buying in AUS

I can't stop thinking about it

OCUK staffer “Gibbo” reports successfully overclocking a retail Ryzen 7 1700 processor with an ASUS Crosshair VI Hero motherboard ($255) to 4.05GHz on all 8 cores. With this overclock the CPU would effectively be running 450MHz higher than the Ryzen 7 1800X flagship, which is very impressive considering the huge price delta between the two chips as well as the low 65W TDP of the 1700. “Gibbo” estimates, based on his results, that the 1800X should be able to hit 4.3GHz on all 8 cores.

We just tested a 1700, it hit 4.0GHz stable in everything, but ONLY in the Crosshair mainboard ($255), the lower-end boards it was hovering around 3.80GHz as the VRM’s were cooking with extra voltage. It however was maxing around 4050MHz, so I’d say 1700 can do 3.9-4.1GHz, of course the 1800X will probably do 4.1-4.3 as no doubt better binned, but if your clocking the motherboard has a big impact on the overclock and so far Asus Crosshair and Asrock Taichi seem the best two.

Buy NASDAQ$AMD immediately.

The 1700X here in NZ is $600. xDDDD

>living in Australia
Well there's the problem.

...

95% Kaby Lake single core performance, much faster multi-threaded performance over kabylake just because of it's 8 cores versus 4.

It has weaker AVX performance but it's a niche instruction set anyways.

Overall it's a great choice for a desktop, and there's all kinds of tricks and tech built in that make it a great choice

Just stick with the Intel Pentium. It's classic.

It's a good thing for everyone since Intel will finally have to lower their prices.

Why so high? Some kind of VAT?

it is literally the opposite of a problem. i would give my balls to live in australia and not the third world shithole i was born in.

It's better than what Intel shills say but worse than what AMD shills say.

10% goods and services tax on top of an already ridicilous price

Where were you born?

too bad, we're full

ifitweremyhome.com/compare/EC/AU

>Still better perf/$

AMD seems to have gotten its shit together and made something to actually compete with Intel. Only time will tell; after release, if it's genuinely as good as the shills are saying, it'll be a new golden age for performance increases next generation.

4 words my friend!:

Stock
RGB
CPU
Coolers...

How can they even compete???

>spending $400+ on an overhyped processor

for what purpose

To compile gentoo faster.

>AMD seems to have gotten its shit together
well it helped that amd fired nearly everyone who worked on faildozer. even fired two? ceos because of it.

I thought those were scalpers.

Literally the second coming.

When you convert it to USD, it's only about $40USD more than Americans pay. It's far better than other products.

No, really, what is the purpose of a high-end desktop processor? What do you faggots need all that power for?

Gayman? Rendering videos? Shaving seconds off of actual productive work?

Actually, Americans prices are without tax right? We're pretty much paying the same price as them.

That is the """"""redpill""""" faggot

There are no "growing" pains for CPUs. They either suck or they don't. This sucks.

VMs, any kind of video or audio editing, encoding/trancoding, compiling, rendering, webserver, dataserver, pfsense/VPN, etc etc

AMD is dropping a line of processors that are on par with Intel's Core series but pricing them far lower. The real redpill is that Intel has been going full jew for years with no competition.

Video editing and compositing for me.

Stop samefagging shill. Nobody here runs a fucking $1,000 6900k. Ryzen sucks balls against a gaming intel on 4.6Ghz+.
Let alone it's a $500 chip you are talking about.

intel shill detected

>nobody here
Good thing everyone's here on their mom's 2500k and pentiums being poorfaggots and are irrelevant to the HEDT market.

Fuck you and die cunt. You have repeatedly samefagged the same bullshit. You have not seen the chip released yet, it's $500 against a cherry picked $1000 intel chip literally NO ONE runs here, and the cherry picked intel chip is a fucking 3.2Ghz chip with a max frequency of 3.7Ghz when literally everyone here with a good Intel chip is at least on 4.6Ghz and gave less than $400.

Are you being retarded and suggesting that AMD WONT release low core count chips that can clock high?

Damn, you're mad. Did you're Intel check bounce?

Wow, you Intelfags were so rich and lavish and suddenly everyone's running $200 processors and i3's and that's all that matters.

Really churns your grey matter.

Intelfags are poor and rich on demand, depends on how AMD's doing.
Fair weather fans and children, nothing really new, everyone that's been following the CPU market for over 10 years is aware of this.

...

It's going to lose to intel on every possible benchmark.

If it was actually good AMD would have already "leaked" benchmarks to boost pre-sales.

>that the 1800X should be able to hit 4.3GHz on all 8 cores.
My friend's 5960X could hit 4.6 on all cores. Big whoop

But your friend 5960 doesn't cost $500 and never will

I'm just excited for intel tears.

It does now

There's been an entire week of benchmark leaks.

Those two are in auctions, the price isn't final
Also, they are both used.

I have a 2600k and its my dads.

Gamedev

Cheap and better than kabylake

Literally how?

Still see no reason to upgrade from my 2500k.

What made this CPU GOAT?

you're gonna fucking die

I don't get all the roleplay from amd fanboys or intel fanboys who go for each other's throats, it's pretty childish.

The only things one should care about are facts, Ryzen looks very promising and I really hope for hopecoming users that it'll hold up to its promises that'd be great for competition and lower prices for everyone.

Ryzen will not BTFO Intel any soon, Intel will still have a monopoly in apple devices or anything thunderbolt related.

If you want to be redpilled regarding Ryzen, buy one and test it or wait for non-amd reviews.

Price compared to Intel and increased performance over AMDs last processor line up
(All monetary values are in USD.)

The R7 lineup isn't meant to compete with the 7700k for solely video games. It's meant to show how price gouging the Jews at Intel really are with their 4+ core processors. What's really meant to compete with Intel's mainstream processors is the R5, and on the very low end, the R3.

In the R5 lineup, the competitors for the i7 7700k will be the 1600x and 1400x. With the 1600x you get 6c/12t which will fare better than an i7 7700k in anything that uses more than 4 cores and will have near single-threaded parity for 259. Not to mention that the base and turbo clocks for the 1600x have been revised from 3.3/3.7 to 3.6/4.0. And as we can tell at this moment, AMD may (might not but we'll find out in a couple days time) have nearly identical single thread performance clock for clock with Skylake/Kabylake.

There's also the 4c/8t 1400x for 199 whose clocks from the earlier leaks (the same one understating the clocks of the 1600x) is 3.5/3.9 which I'm willing to bet will increase. That's near identical 7700k performance for 60 percent the price.
You can get a 1400x (200), a B350 motherboard(80-100), and 8gb of DDR4 RAM(50-60), for about the same price as a 7700k (340-350).

AMD isn't trying to reclaim the all around desktop performance throne. That spot is saved for Zen+. It's trying to be as good for far cheaper, or far better in some areas for slightly less cheaper.

The only problem? The R5 doesn't release until Q2. Which, knowing AMD, means the end of June.

It's 15% dude

So... autistic stuff, ok.

Not if you are ordering from an internet site that doesn't have a warehouse in YOUR state. That way, AMericans avoid paying for state sales tax on their internet purchases.

Fucks sakes mate, I am not an American but I still know more about your tax system than you.

>If it was actually good AMD would have already "leaked" benchmarks to boost pre-sales
Kinda like what they've been doing?

Because Intel went full jew in the last years. AMD doesn't even have their own foundry and even like that Intel charges more for 5% higher clockspeeds and 3% more performance each year. Also there s no way they have a new worthy architecture ready, get ready for a tic-toc-toc-toc cycle.

Because AMD invested on a brand new architecture from scratch instead of making "deals" with OEMs and re-selling the same chip performance for 3 years like Intel.

E-penis.

Implying that 1800x used will not cost less than $500.

lol too late

no

IS RYZEN GOOD FOR MINING SHITCOINS?

>CPU mining
No.

Because Intel's business model has reached a dead end. They can't afford running their fabs anymore just by selling CPUs and they can't expand into non-CPU markets quick enough to pay for their fabs.

People don't realise prices in Aus include GST

Murika doesn't advertise with the tax included

>Murika doesn't advertise with the tax included
Why are americans so fucking retarded?
Do they have to tip the website and the delivery man, too?

>not CPU mining
It's like you hate quality alternativecoins

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's because tax varies from state to state.

Only cinebench. Everything else is under NDA until preorders ship out.

there is no federal tax, you fucking European dipshit

That's part of it. Some states don't pay taxes from online orders.

I'm not European though.
I just don't understand why the hell you fuckfaces put up with hidden prices all over the place.
Whenever I go anywhere, and I see something is being advertised for $20, I can be fucking sure that it's actually $20.
No hidden tax bullshit, no required "tipping" or any bullshit. Also, if I'm paying in cash, I can make the transaction a lot faster, as I can get the exact change out beforehand, without having to work shit out.

Well, I agree with you and I'd prefer to have the full price stated everywhere. I'd also prefer to never be expected to tip anyone under any circumstance.

How do you say Ryzen?

Poo-in-loo

SHIIIIIIIIIIIL

I think if you tried to tip anyone in my country (New Zealand), I'm think most people would think you're being patronising and reject it.

Rai-Zen.
I guess some people might say it like "risen", but that seems stupid to me.

tax is hidden because the most common way you'll see a price listed is in an advertisement
advertisements circulate to dozens of counties at a time, and each county can set its own sales tax
it would take a lot of extra space to show the counties at 3% the ones at 4.5%, or 5%, 5.5%, 7.5%, 8.5%, etc
it doesn't make much sense inside of stores to have it absent though, because once you're inside the tax is kind of a locked value

tipping is just a custom that you wind up looking like a jerk for not following

Daily reminder that Ryzen is just a glorified version of AMD's jaguar architecture.

>tipping is just a custom that you wind up looking like a jerk for not following
That's just because it's a retarded social norm. It doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense, or isn't annoying.

Daily reminder that this user doesn't know what he's talking about.

>It doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense, or isn't annoying.
yeah it doesn't make sense but i can't say it annoys me personally

it's a custom, customs are weird, and disobeying customs offends people that observe them
customs are common all over the world, be ready to embrace the dumb quirks if you want to have a good time somewhere

You're just a stupid shit-eater that doesn't know any better.

you sound very cultured, enlightened, educated, and wealthy

The whole point of zen is that it's not based on old architectures, they made it from zero.

Compiling large C++ projects and running virtual machines for deployment testing of those projects. Also 3D content creation and gaming.

4K @ 60 HEVC porn

>> Ryzen 7 1700, the cheapest version, costs same as i7-7700k
>> 3GHz vs 4.2GHz
>> 8cores vs 4cores

if there were much consumer software that makes good use of multicore, Ryzen would be an option.

But current software, especially gaymens, needs single core power.

I'd go with an intel if I had to choose

>get presented with arguments
>*autistic screeching*

That's not autistics stuff. It's basic.

Nope. Shilluinus is getting his, a few others pre launch.

Stop living in the past. Modern games like cores more than Ghz.
