Im gonna make a better thread with blackjack and hookers
And fashion watches which WILL attract the attention of girls and get you SEX
> £200 for a chronograph service
$100 , what to get? I'd prefer something >40mm for 7.5" wrists.
Rubber is pretty cool, looks very casual of course. I have a bright orange Isofrane lookalike on my Ray.
Just came back from a week in Iceland with it, it was great. I love being in vacation because I can get away with anything watch-wise. I wouldn't wear an orange strap day to day.
What style? Are you looking for something mechanical?
Anything but dress style. Mechanical would be nice but it's not a necessity if a quartz alternative is significantly better at that price point.
...
one of the many seiko 5s.
if that's the kind of girl a fashion watch gets you I'll stick to the casio
Citizen BM8180 I've got mine on a Bond nato strap.
I like watches, not sex
Cool nato bro!
Thanks, it's the same as Bond wears in Dr No. (Although his is just a 1 piece nylon strap as natos didn't exist yet)
Yes
The truth is that only wrist watch autists (like myself) actually pay attention to other peoples watches. Girls, especially girls, dont know about watches and dont give a shit, unless its a Rolex
Thats Goldfinger doe...
Really?
Shit, that's what I meant.
Question: Would you buy a Seiko 5206A Lord Matic for $50 or $60. /wt/?
If it was all original and in decent shape and running? Sure. That's not a bad price for one.
Is it worth learning how to service a watch? Or just pay someone else?
The cost of the tools will be over the cost of two or three services
/k/ here. We had a watch thread a while back and one of your namefags made fun of us for our terrorist watches. Help me class it up a bit? I was looking around for a quality black 18mm NATO strap with blue accents, but if I can't find one I was thinking of making a black leather NATO strap with blue cerakoted hardware and blue stitching.
What services? Just throw away all watches after three years. Jesus christ
If it's interesting to you, pick it up as a hobby. If it's not interesting to you, outsource it. Life is too short to worry about this from any other angle.
Japanese seller, 1972, faceted crystal is a bit beat, but those are still around, aren't they? I think they were even standardized mostly, but that might just be the Swiss.
Black nato makes it look better for sure
Look at cheapnatostraps.com
It's kind of interesting to me but I don't wanna fuck up my watches
Get a few 99c Russian parts watches on eBay to practice on.
You should be able to Google the model number to check for it being all original and then find out the part number for hr crystal and see if you can find any NOS ones out there.
is there a watch strap like the apple watch's milanase loop for snk 5?
seems like it would be nice and fit a wrist properly
not sure if it would be good to have amagnetic strap on an automatic watch as well too
> seagull is the largest producer of mechanical movements
Is this accurate? What watches hsve seagull movements?
Just get a regular seatbelt clasp style Milanese. You'll get the same length adjustability without any of the magnetic concerns.
Seagull watches.
Way/wt/?
I was looking at some of their straps earlier, I think the black leather NATO with PVD hardware (pic related) would be the best fit from their offerings, I didn't see anything with the right amount of blue in it.
I'm trying to talk myself into buying something like this for my $9 meme watch:
Most of the stuff that comes out of china that isn't absolutely dirt cheap (those have standard chinese movements out of wherever).
Eh, the bids are skyrocketing right now, it's close to $70, I think I'm letting it go.
Fuck, ended at $82.
I guess the problem with Ebay is that it's insanely crowded with a lot of people knowing what different vintage pieces are worth.
>black leather NATO with PVD hardware (pic related)
do it. I own a couple similar to the ones you posted, they look really good.
5120g
or
saxonia thin
or
fuck it get an fp journe when one I want is finally available.
[x]FP Journe.
Which journe?
I'm torn between PVD and some kind of metallic hardware. PVD seems like the safe, goes-with-anything option, but stainless might work well with the three metal buttons on the watch.
I would say saxonia but if the journe is the one you actually want obviously go for it
>5120g
>saxonia thin
While they're both two-handers, they look quite different. Surely you like one more than the other.
Is there an appreciable difference between StrapCode.com, CheapestNATOStraps.com, and CrownAndBuckle.com NATO strap quality?
i need a watch to go with a suit. ive never owned anything formal and now i am obligated to dress nice for once in my life. i dont have a whole lot to spend. any suggestions?
that one.
SARB065 is a safe bet.
really damn good watch for $40
Absolutely get the chronometre bleu then m8.
I just want a nice minimalistic dress watch to round off the collection, but at the same time I figure if I am gonna bother rounding off my collection I might just get a journe and end it there.
If you want a watch that is formal, something simple on a black or brown leather strap.
How much is less than a "whole lot."
400 or less. preferably less.
ty user
I've found the opposite. On lower end pieces anyway the interest seems almost non existant.
Last month I bought 6 citizen and seikos from the 70s and paid no more than $20 for each. Most I was the only bidder.
Yeah, but I'm trying to get something fancy. I tried this Lord Matic, a Citizen Leopard and some electrics, but so far all ran away from me.
Again, any fag can buy a watch. Owning 2-3 is not impressive. A watch's individual significance is the manufacturer's achievement, not yours. Simply put, if your collection is merely worth the sum of the parts you have nothing to be smug over because it will be dismantled by your family the moment you're hit by a train.
So I jumped on chrono24 to see what I could see, check this out.
chrono24.com
(I do not know anything about this model and can not attest to if it is true to the original or if it has replacement parts, I also can't vouch for the seller)
It's not as formal as a two hander with no date or minute markers like this But easily still would work in most formal situations (at least the type you'd wear a normal business suit to.)
How's kinda recent 1963 user doing
Still working and holding at +15 seconds per day. Wondering if it will come down as the watch is broken in. If not I'll have it regulated. Watch is seriously beautiful in the light. The dial is a metallic golden flake colour. The blued hands shine and so do the gold indacies.
One thing that I didn't mention before not sure if you know this already. You won't find a serial number or seagull logo on the watch. Except for "tianjin watch factory" on the dial and case back in Chinese.
This could be an attempt to stay true to the original as seagull has only existed since 1992.
However the theory on watchuseek is these are essentially a microbrand watch made by a man named thomas in Hong Kong. He used to be a high up manager in seagull but has now started his own watch company. Most people get their watches by emailing Thomas.
Seagull pulled the watch from their lineup years ago but somehow new ones are ring made...
I knew all this before buying.

not really my style and I'm not after an omega but appreciated.
I will likely go for the sohne or the patek but I thought I'd drop in the journe for kicks to see what people said.
I was talking to the guy who is looking for a
Thanks for the info. Where did you get yours ? From thomas? I have his email
oops
As a hobby? Debateably. Like you said, tools are expensive, and it requires a lot of patience and learning to do it right. To start, find an old beat up pocketwatch with an intact movement. If you ruin it, whatever. Get a cheap WATCHMAKERS screwdriver set (hardware stores dont have anything small enough) a case knife, and a loupe. Try taking it apart and putting it back together, see what you think. That should cost you maybe a little over 100 bucks if you shop right.
Career wise? Sure. The world is running out of watchmakers and theyre becoming more in demand as older ones retire. You could probably get a good job for a good company easy. But, opening a business is going to be harder. Manufacturers are clamping down on parts and tool accounts because they make more money when they come into the factory for service.
I got mine from watchunique in the netherlands but they just get them from Thomas.
Buying from Thomas allows more choice he makes lots of different versions but I always wanted the 38mm acrylic as it's more true to the original. He also makes 42mm. Sapphire crystal. Different dial colours. Some people fined the Chinese red star offensive so you can get wit different logo.
It's more to save costs on servicing the same reason I change my car oil myself
Are there any affordable, or better yet poorfag microrotors? Do the Japanese do microrotors at all?
Thing with car oil, the manufacturer doesn't stop you buying it.
Look for vintage Universal Geneve polerouters. Those movements did get used by other manufacturers as well.
Ehhh. Then i would just take it to a good shop. A good watch should only have to be serviced every five years, really good ones can go a little over a decade.
Doing it yourself requires a lot of intensive technical know-how. You run the risk of really fucking something up if youre not careful and untrained.
If you have the passion for it and are willing to spend a few YEARS learning the ins and outs, hell yeah.
But if youre just trying to save money, like you said, no. The cost of the tools, the risk of having to replace your watch, and the time commitment dont add up.
interwatches.com
This is my dream watch after playing through New Vegas. It'd be amazing if they'd re-release it.
Cop?
hi mkay
I'm looking at Nomos.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Nomos that goes with anything? something I can dress up/down. throw a nato on, or put a nice leather strap on, and go?
or does that watch not exist...
Sup Forums
yes, I mistook it for a cocktail time. what movement's in it? size, movement pls?
It's am in house movement shanghai 8120
It's 35mm.
It's a reproduction of a 1958 watch.
Plain old Tangente can do that.
Get the FP Journe. Or get a more interesting looking Patek, like a 5196p or 5296g. I don't really see much point to clean minimalist dials.
What is their warranty like ?
NICE, how much?
The Chinese (and Tisell) have some watches with tremendous cost:quality ratios
That's what I understand, it's really versatile. Looks great, too.
Is it a good watch for the money (movement/casing)?
...
Watchunique offer a 1 year warranty. Some people have has issues while others have not. There was a big thread on watchuseek a few years back where they took a guys watch and he had to wait months for a refund. But far more people have posted about them honouring the warranty. You have no manufacturers warranty.
Thomas also offeres a one year warranty however you'll need to ship it all the way back to China and he'll repair it. Watchunique just refunds or sends another.
I've found it for $52
Oh yeah, its good stuff. They use good materials and have great qc.
The alpha movement isnt anything groundbreaking, but its solid, and nicely finished. I believe the newest one was designed from the ground up.
Overall its very good for the money; 2000 bucks for an in-house movement, Made in Germany, a country with a high standard of manufaturing.
The only problem is that theyre not major players like Rolex or whatever, so resale wont be that great if you want to flip it for something else.
I assume youre male? Go with the 38mm no date.
What's up my watch lads rate me
shit/10
>paying $2000 for a fashion watch
Nomos please....
almost as ugly as your belt buckle
kill yourself/10
Boi that's GUCCI you are swagless homie. You are broke and have no sauce fag detected
>wearing guess with gucci
dumb on so many levels
About 1/10. Sorry
>fake gold plating
>run of the mill japanese quartz
>fashion brand
> oversized
The problem is that it just screams trailer park noveau riche.
>broke
99% your trolling, but That watch is about 100 bucks and available from macy's...
Broke? You are the fag that buys cheap end fashion watches. If you had any real brains and money you would wear an omega or a rolex. Perhaps something even higher up the chain. And those watches don't cost some measly 1000$ MacDonald's money. They cost 5000$ and up.
Thanks good brother. I'm stoked to try one out. I'm definitely a no-date kind of guy.
I have 38mm watches, they look good on my 8" wrists. Do you think 38's the sweet spot with a Nomos on a big wrist, or do you think I go with 40mm?
I appreciate the advice and time you've taken btw.
Counter troll? Or you took that bait big time.
I cant tell anymore
