What is the most fedora-tier programming/scripting language?

What is the most fedora-tier programming/scripting language?

distro: fedora

language: rust

C if you're talking about Sup Forums programmers.

[Haskell, [Purescript, [ etc]]

>etc
never heard of that language before

html5 webapps

>C if you're talking about programmers
ftfy

Fedora tier?

Languages that are:
1) different for the sake of being different
2) slow for the sake of features
3) user friendly.

1) Python
2) Python
3) Python / PHP.

Python

Python, no contest.

Rust and Go

c++ or java

Haskell

I'm compiling a list of obscure hipster languages

General:
Go
Rust
Swift
Crystal
D
Fancy
Io
Nim
Myrddin
Objeck
Pike
Rebol
Red
Frege
Clojure
newLISP
picoLISP
APL
Eiffel
Self
Groovy
Kotlin
Scala
Hot Soup Processor

Domain specific languages:
Extempore
FAUST
MML (Music Macro Language)
Pure Data

Perl 6

Neat, add Lily, Wren, Croc, Falcon, Qore, ChaiScript, AngelScript, Mond.

What are Go and Rust used for? They keep popping up.

What's hipster about Pure Data?

All of them.

this

Haskell, Rust, D

python is reddit : the language, but it's popular in academia too.

>What's hipster about Pure Data?

It's used by '''''''''artists'''''''''

If you're not coding in Assembly then you're not the biggest hipster around.

Ruby, Perl, Golang and Vbscript

>but it's popular in academia too.
that is somewhat deebly goncerning, but otherwise the tooling is ok

/thread

R is pretty good.

>tfw Python is used in all GNU/Linux distributions and macOS for critical OS tasks

totally a hipster language guise

>build python program
>breaks between minor updates because devs can't make up their mind
nice language you got there

Ruby

Inb4 autistic fedora sperging

That's great and all user, but its still used damn near fucking everywhere.

That's great and all user, but if your program breaks, your enemies win.

the one you learned, know the syntax but you haven't done anything

Python is widespread in academia because a scientist in grad school who has never programmed before can learn it in less than a week and get their shit done.

That and no compilation necessary.

This list makes me happy. Some small part of me feels like I'm not wasting my life coding java at work and ruby at home.

anything lisp-derived

f-fuck you

Add Elixir to general and Brightscript to domain specific. You could add Coffeescript too, if this was 8ish years ago or if we're willing to beat a dead horse.

good list d.esu

Rust, and Python. Both languages that reddit absolutely flocks to in mass numbers for whatever reason.

>not being able to code in whatever language you want whenever you want

this is why you're unemployed Sup Forums -- i usually code in C, python, ruby, rust, go, and lisp, and i use each one at least once a week

y'all weak. probably can't even use vim without the arrow keys. ain't ever touched emacs once. bunch of fake ass no-tech niggas

Rust or Go
>in this moment I am euphoric, not because of some memory unsafe exploit ridden language, but because I am free from the intellectual bondage of malloc and free

>being so obsessed with internet forum cultures that you deem massively popular languages as useless
Stay autistic Sup Forums

Literally where did I or OP say the languages were useless? Stop making shit up, nobody is attacking you and you don't need to justify yourself.

Going between languages with and without semicommas seperating statements is pretty fucking bad though.

I forget them everywhere when I transition from python to c and leave them in python code when going the other way.

Ruby.

on the flipside, C and Lisp are the clear patricians choice

This. Normies cant into C or LISP, that's why there are so many "lisp is ded lol" "enjoy ur buffer overflow" shills on here.

I don't get you fucks. Either Rust is fedora-tier and used by neckbeards, or it's SJW-tier and used by normies and SJWs.

Seems like a Rust has rustled a lot of jimmies on Sup Forums.

top lel, how many security vulns exist because of buffer overflows?

I enjoy C and C++ as much as the next guy, but it's not the choice for every application.

t. Haskellposter

Imagine a compiled language, with speeds akin to C.

Now, imagine if it was safe.

That's Rust.

Sup Forums just doesn't like it because it's hard to learn.

>R
>Fedora tier
Shucks. We have to learn R for my applied statistics course. Does this make me a fedora-wearer?

>
>caring about what some kid on Sup Forums thinks
Kill yourself

zsh/fish

Erlang

haskell

CoffeeScript, Moonscript, TypeScript
