Now, this is officially a thing now it seems.
They're offering upgrade mainboards older Thinkpads with current/last gen Intel CPUs or completele upgraded laptops, they also upgraded the displays. How autistic am I for wanting to drop 780$ on this.

You shilled it yesterday buddy

>tfw would get one anyway If I could afford it.

Seems enticing in the sense that it gives me a bit of nostalgia, but it's a complete waste of money in practice. I'd rather put that $800 toward a Macbook. Thinkpads are a shitty meme and should stay where they are—$250 junkers you buy on eBay if you're too poor for a better computer.

so you have to upgrade the mobo to upgrade the display dont you?

In either case why do you need to "speed up" a laptop you're going to use for media and social and maybe documents. It's literally already fast enough for all those things. I understand an upgraded display, but you are a fucking sheep if you can be convinced to spend 780 for a marginal performance gain ((((actually for your screenfetch/e-peen))))

>Macbook
here's why every apple user is a fucking retard:
>sees apple ads in TV about how user friendly macs are ("computers for the rest of us", aka for idiots)
>friends recommend apple products because they are apple uses themselves
>"minimalistic" design appeals to the retard, he can't predict that the materials used are designed to be so flimsy to break, also ignores how other products are more ergonomic to use since those aren't just slabs of aluminium
>compares $2000 applel product to the only other laptops he's ever used: $300 walmart trash and is amazed how ""premium"" apple is
>begins to use mac OS and since it's a bit more user friendly he believes it's the greatest thing ever
>now stuck in the apple ecosystem, has to buy a new model every 3 years because some of the hardware broke (planned obsolescence)
>likely a dumb poorfag so he has to take a loan just to buy the fucking computers
>even recommends apple to friends and tries to justify his position with unrealistic claims ("muh special functions only apple has", "I have a higher status in society if people see my computer", "it just werks", "muh special application NEEDS mac OS")

>worst of all, he doesn't even notice how much he has been cucked

tl;dr macfags are fucking retarded

>ddr3
>not 1080p screen

trashman.png

>1050 is 30 pixels less than 1080
wow, what a fail!

>- SXGA+ (1400x1050) IPS screen *

I just looked that up and the it appears to be a HV121P01-100

It's got 60% sRGB, ghosting, 6 bit, 1st gen ips.

You have to be a fucking moron to pay $1000 for a piece of turd like that.

wanna know i know you're fat?

>15W i5 instead of 28W i7
into the litter box it proceeds

RYZEN APU UPGRADE WHEN

No, if you order the entire thing it comes fully assembled.

>VGA replaced
dropped

3rd batch is already sold out according to the lcdfans facebook page

They're working on a T500 upgrade with i7-6700HQ

>1x 2.5" 250GB SSD (+$100USD)

>Modem connector disabled
Fucking dropped

I meant i7-7700HQ

well its cool and i'd get one if i made alot of money but still had time for a thinkkpad fetish but it's not practical at all. Its like 10%practical 90%cool look at me

Shit hardware is shit

Deal with it lenoshill

They willingly did not install a 28w cpu with good gpu and l4 cache in a machine that was designed for 35W cpu + 12W chipset combo.

>they didn't even put thunderbolt 3 usb-c instead of modem connector

>16:9
>laptop

Call me again once they offer an upgrade kit for my W700ds

When you fit a 1080 video to that screen you are only going to get 787 horizontal pixles my friend

As much as I would love something like this, I've heard some issues from forum posts. Things like constant fan usage, poor sound quality, some other things that I can't remember that turned me off. For now I'm going to wait for some official Lenovo retro thinkpad release rather than get a janked together chinese laptop.

I don't think so. Otherwise, stop watching shit widescreen movies.

But that media is made perfect for 16 9 1080. you can go full screen and still have a little sidebar for your shitposting

What do you use the modem connector for in this year, user? You probably don't use it for dial up so do you make phone calls with it?

Let me guess, you eat popcorn at theaters?

Someone mentioning a macbook sets you off like that?

well shit i didn't know Sup Forums autists had trigger words
>welcome to 2017

>trigger word
Wow, that's actually what it is. Sad.

The T70 sounds like the perfect thinkpad and will be better than what the Lenovo Retro could ever be.

i cant go to theaters anymore i have nobody to go with

Do they do this for the X60? I like it a lot better than the X61 (got both from my office, they wrote them off recently along with a bunch of other computers, said I could keep them if I scrubed the fuck out of the hard drives) I really liked the rotating screen, but the graphics in the x60 were a generation older than the 61...

X60 and X61 have identical chassis.

I would love to do some FHD mod on my x220 but that must be so fucking hard.

anyone know if I can get a t430s motherboard and put it into the t420s housing?

Hey, remember, the X6x series were made by IBM, not lenovo. They were real well made machines back then. I don't want to be the guy who says they don't make them like they used to, but they don't make them like they used to. The worst thing that ever happened to thinkpads was having control transferred to lenovo instead of IBM

no they dont. At least not for the tablet. my fingerprint reader is on my monitor, and it swivels. The x61 doesnt do that.

Does anyone know about the battery life on these things? That's honestly my biggest gripe with the old thinkpads.

If you lower the wattage of the CPU, the batter should last proportionally longer, no?

>It's got 60% sRGB, ghosting, 6 bit, 1st gen ips.
60% SRGB is accurte, but you should get a Nichia LED upgrade for the backlight that gets it out to 90%. There's no ghosting, it's 8 bit practical.

>no they dont. At least not for the tablet. my fingerprint reader is on my monitor, and it swivels. The x61 doesnt do that.
The X60 and X61 are identical chassis. The X60T and X61T also have identical chassis. The tablet is not the same as the non-tablet. Fingerprint scanner was an _option_ on all models.

reminder that these work great in the X62:
people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/thinkpad/led-kit.shtml
Widens the gamut, pumps it up to 800 nits, uses less power.

> "muh special application NEEDS mac OS"
The only reason on why I want an apple computer is to do some iOS programming.

This
Clearly showing that this is more a moneygrab than a "niche-filler"
You can get a laptop with a better spec on EVERY component for the same price
That's not what the used thinkpad is about

You're literally paying for a design at this point (at an insane rate). You neckbeards are so fucking dumb its hilarious.

>talking shit about your 'friend' on Sup Forums

You don't have any friends. There's toxic normies on both ends. Your 'friend' probably posts stories about you on the internet about how you're a poor fat neckbeard who uses a $120 JizzPad and Arch for the screenshots.

They were going for battery life and low cost, go read the threads.
Personally, I want the bigger processor too.
The first batches used higher wattage options, so that suggests the firmware can still handle it. I wonder what the biggest i7 I can reball onto the thing would be....

IBM sold its PC business to Lenovo in 2005. The X60 wasn't released until 2006.

X60 was the last fully IBM-designed model. Lenovo had already been manufacturing ThinkPads for IBM well before that.

I remember when my dad brought home his first thinkpad with the Lenovo badge
Holy shit that felt like trash. Even as a 10 year old kid I could tell that Lenovo was just another cheap laptop brand and nothing like the dozen thinkpads before it

so how are they doing this? are they modifying x60 motherboards or are they making their own or what?

they designed a new motherboard that fits in the X60/X61 chassis.

(and uses the existing peripherals, screens, batteries, keyboards, etc)

I don't understand what you mean by this. What exactly changed after the X60? IBM sold out a year before the X60's release, so surely a large part of its design was done after that. But if you're talking about the machines still being designed by the same people in the US, then as far as I know that didn't end after the X60.

I speak so much gibberish, Let's do a thread. Go on Twitter and spread the hashtag #GibberishAnonymoose and tag me when done @VeryTobias

Cheers!

The biggest Broadwell U, i7-5557U

get off the internet and go to a bar or the gym of something then. you can't be that autistic.

I have X62 and can answer questions about it

I get about 6 hours of Chrome use, but I'm using an original X60 battery

>8 bit practical
Looking at 6-bit displays makes me sick.

...

Looking at this image all the text on the page look fuzzy. Like I just came out of a pool with too much Chlorine in it.

What exactly is the purpose of this image?

I have an 8-bit IPS display and a laptop with a junk 6-bit TN panels, and I don't really notice any difference in usage that could be attributed to that in particular.

what is this black magic?

>here's why every apple user is a fucking retard:
Wanna know how can I tell you never leave home?
