PLZ HELP

Why is my laptop so fucking slow?

I thought restoring to factory settings would make it a lot faster. it didn't.

In the task manager it says my CPU usage is from 3%-15% usually, but physical memory is always > 90%. I think this is the issue but im not sure.

Pic related is the task manager, but idk what is important and what is not. Please help me bros

>10 year old meme OS
>wonders why laptop is slow

rly meks u fink

install Ubuntu you fucking babbie and call it a day

Install more RAM. You're probably swapping like a bitch to your shitty HDD amd it's slowing your computer down.

So it looks like physical memory refers to RAM which is almost definitely my problem here.

How can I clean this up? is there a program or something that is useful?

If you don't have enough RAM to run Chrome without swapping, you need to upgrade.

So why was I able to run chrome easily just a year ago

Install an ssd, for daily usage a 128 gb ssd is like using 128gb of ram.

Also, windows 10 uses less resources than windows vista.

Also, linux will use much less resources than vista.

Installing more ram might be cheaper but will not make a huge difference like an ssd

Ask google.

I know you cant install RAM but I feel like theres just a bunch of BS thats taking up my RAM space

>I know you cant install RAM

what ?

okay well I only use my PC for word processors and the internet, so should I just call this a loss and keep using my shitty chromebook?

I thought he was memeing with the whole "download more RAM bruh" but i get it im retarded

OP, download Speccy & post a screenshot of your system stats.

Click the "show processes from all users" button then sort by memory usage. There's probably some shitty window service using a shitload of ram

Hey, it's better than AMD vs Intel thread #9001

.

yeah "WIndows Modules Installer" is using >1million K

That seems a little high

Also "windows host process" about 750,000K

Disabling windows updates would be a quick fix for the modules installer but google might have a better answer.

You can right click the host process and choose "go to services" or similar and it will show you which services are running under that executable. Post what you find but I'm going to guess it includes Application Experience

Sry for the pic but my computer started shitting out on me

Well thats embarrassing heres a better one

Windows Update is in there, it's possible that it's the culprit for both. Try disabling windows updates entirely and rebooting

I hit "stop Service"

"operation could not be completed. cannot take control messages at this time"

Delete Windows and install Ubuntu

Try it normally through control panel

Also "modules installer" is up to 2.5 million K

stop and change type from autostart to demand start for wuauserv.

>Year ago.
Found your problem.

Just get more ram, it's cheap as fuck and having 2x4gb is enough for normie stuff.
Also, google how to disable the botnet processes.

no script and ad blockers are your friends.

is there a way to see if I have open ram slots before taking apart my laptop?

explain that to me like i have no clue what you're talking about

>restores machine back to factory settings
>windows update takes all the resources post restore (shocker)
>tfw the solution is literally to sit there and let the machine update

wew lads.

Well you're spot on. It updated for like 40 minutes and now it runs fine. Thanks guys! :D

Takes like 5 seconds to open it up and check...

...

How the fuck did you get 93 processes running with just Chrome? Is this an OEM install?

Here is my clean install from Dreamspark ISO.

Number one reason why chrome sucks.
