>be american in 2017 >heard there's a new payment technology on credit cards called CHIP >somehow now I must also type a number to pay WTF >takes 2 minutes on shitty slow american internet to contact the bank and process the payment
Meanwhile in Europe we have been using contactless for 3 years now

Carson Jones
>somehow now I must also type a number to pay WTF
you mean a PIN? that's been a thing for a while
Aaron Powell
so the muslims dont even need a pin now after they jack you?
Christian Gomez

Jaxon Campbell

the chip is instant in europe

Andrew Rivera
Even Australia has this technology. You can even pay with your phone with NFC!
Andrew Cruz
we have low ping and this cant be much data what would make such a difference?
Nathan Kelly
IIRC, the US still uses telephone lines to transmit that kind of stuff on most of the country.
Brandon Phillips
>No 2 factor authentication for creditcards even though everyone has a phone >Creditcard companies leak like a sieve personal information and otherwise >Have to give your real name to companies instead of a number that represents you >Sign a piece of paper or use a signing terminal that doesnt even send your signature back to your bank or creditcard provider
It's almost like they make money off fraud and selling peoples information.
Nathan Adams
What's more, "paycheck" isn't just a figure of speech, they still get their salary as an actual check, not a bank transfer. And you can't actually transfer money to Americans from abroad since they don't have IBAN numbers. Last time I had to pay a burger for something I had to call the bank three days in advance to get a check issued, since checkbooks aren't a thing anymore.
Jaxon Ortiz
What the hell is this?

>shilling for contactless payment
Fuck off Sup Forums right now. This is the most insecure shit ever conceived. It's so bad that they have to limit the amount of money you can spend via NFC so people can't just clear your account with a smartphone. What the fuck
Jose Turner
>pins are only 4 digits long
Jayden Barnes
If your card supports contactless payment, yes and no. You can only buy for a fairly small amount of money (200 DKK, or 29.90 EUR here in Denmark), but Mohammed could simply keep doing this over and over again.
Aside from being jacked by Muslims though, it's important to have cards like these in a wallet with RFID/NFC protection. Some pocket thieves have taken to simply scanning people's pockets with NFC readers as they walk by and wiping contactless cards by requesting X amount of money until the given bank account is empty. And yes, this works. They can also have a bot order hundreds of small things off websites.
On the bright side though, at least these kinds of charges are very obvious, and banks will do chargebacks as soon as it's discovered. I think some even have automated systems in place to freeze an account if they register these kinds of charges. Still, use a wallet with proper shielding for contactless cards.
Michael Carter
Chip cards don't have RFID, moron.
Jackson Brown
>>takes 2 minutes on shitty slow american internet to contact the bank and process the payment
I thought it had more to do with the shitty terminals they were using to process the payment, not the internet speed.
Benjamin Reyes
>paying with the plastic jew cash is king. enjoy feeding the kikes with your "transaction fees".
Ayden Clark
RFID, NFC, close enough. Contactless cards support all three methods; Contactless, chip, and magnet strip. Similarly, the chip-"only" cards that came before them had both the chip and magnet strip.
Juan Smith
American """education"""
Liam Rivera
my transaction fee is -1% (cashback)
Ian Barnes
No, it's mainly the internet speed. The terminals themselves don't process much, they only send and receive data to/from the banks.
Levi Scott
Contactless is stupid. Allows anyone who stole your card to use it without knowing the PIN code.
Robert Barnes
I feel for the cashiers who have to deal with retards that can't figure out how chips work. Just by working near them I've seen people who have physically cut their chips out.
Robert Cooper

mine is 0 % and I don't need no stinking cashback for that. calculate the amount of money you throw at jews each year for the questionable "convenience" of letting others handle your payments for you.

John Walker
you won't be a student forever. they're baiting you so you'll give them your money out of habit.
Angel Howard
We don't even have CHIP and PIN, we have CHIP and sign.
Julian Martinez
I looked into it and if you have more than 30 000 rub it's free in any case. and you get money just for having money on the card - 7% each year. and you still get 1% cashback. feels good not to live in the third world
James Carter
Americans are RETARDED when it comes to cards. You are literally on the same level as the Philippines.
Anthony Phillips
Get raped and kill yourself, you dumb fucking faggot sack of nigger shit with down syndrome.
Luis Myers
There is a 3 transaction limit in most places before your pin is required again
Jordan Lee
> rub I guess our banks really want that word of mouth advertising. I was recently offered a visa gold card at zero annual fee and all I had before was a barely ever used free student card.
Jaxon Diaz
American businesses don't like to spend money on better payment terminals to keep up with you advanced, futuristic Eurofags. There's the joke. Nothing left to discuss.
Yes, you are all superior over there for having contactless terminals and Muslim immigrants.
Aaron Lewis
>be european >get bombed by americans and russians
Bentley Barnes
we've had contact less debit/credit cards for way longer than 3 years, they just have a little nfc chip in them
Oliver Ramirez
the £30/eur limit is actually put in place by the merchant, theoretically you can pay any amount via nfc as if the merchant has not put a limit on the amount, it would still clear from your bank/credit card.

>justamericanthings.tiff
Ryder Gonzalez
We've had contactless in America for a while.
Chip is just a security thing. Makes the store liable for card fuck ups instead of the bank.
And yeah it was slow as shit when it came out but its a lot faster already.
Easton Foster
In Germany if you pay more then 20€ you need a pin and after I believe 2/3 payments you always need a Pin. So Yeah ranjid can try to get my 20€. Bank will charge it back in seconds.
Hunter Baker
>complaining about credit card payments
>not complaining about our 150 year old transportation system
Get your priorities straight nigger
Benjamin Clark
Pretty much this, except US merchant card agreements have always been shit for the merchant. Instead of the CC company taking the fall for fraudulent charges, the merchant does. This only happens in the US, but the purchase percentage the card merchants charge are cheaper than anywhere else, so merchants put up with this. This irresponsible US card company policy has kept them flush and therefore in no hurry in the US to improve the security of CCs.

That's 130k + tip
Ethan Russell
contactless payments suck. it will fail if you touch the payment thing too quickly and it will also fail if you dont take it away from the device quickly enough and it will fail if its not close enough
Anthony Murphy
theres no limits if you use 20€ in different stores.
Isaiah Myers
>uses physical card to pay not in Winland
Dominic Turner
Do you really have difficulties using contactless payments ? Just put your card on the terminal for 2 seconds, and get it back. Jesus.
Cooper Campbell
i´m in Europe and dare i say i use that totally old-school paper-money thing and amazingly enough it is faster than all those card-paying idiots who make me wait several minutes because they thought they had to pay with a damn card which everyone knows takes far too long
Landon Jenkins
More likely the teacher is being "forced" to '''''Differentiate''''' with learning.
Logan Johnson
nothing on the device or card says how long you need to hold it there
Andrew Russell
>Meanwhile in Europe we have been using contactless for 3 years now If someone steals your card, they can do the rounds making purchases under £30.
Having contactless has made me think more about losing my card. I now keep it separate from my wallet, which is annoying, because my wallet is simply a card-holder, I don't routinely carry cash.
Lincoln Campbell
it´s hard for hamfingers to press the right numbers without mistyping
Ayden Moore
In France, 90% of the terminal look like this. At the top of the screen, there are 4 LED, who light up like a loading bar. Once the 4 LED are bright (~2 seconds), you can take back your card.
Hunter Lewis
UKfag here, in our shops there's a screen facing you with four lights resembling race starting lights.
They all light up red, then turn green, with a noise playing while it's working.
If it fails to read it tells you, and takes like half a second to reset after you move the card away.
Isaac Mitchell
>No (((freedoms)))
t. That weird fat guy from middle school you haven't seen outside his town in the middle of nowhere in 20+ years
Nolan Phillips
The fuck are you talking about? Nobody gets physical checks anymore except for like, bottom of the barrel minimum wage workers. At most places, they won't even send you checks anymore. You have to provide them with information for a bank transfer or you won't get paid.
Evan Cooper
>be European >no freedoms Choose one, we're not American.
Xavier Edwards
Canda too desu
Lincoln Martin
>work at one of the largest grocery stores in the nation >when someone swipes their card we just press the card button and they have to choose credit or debit themselves >only debit requires a pin >you can run a debit card as credit and it will go through without inputting a pin >nobody has bothered to fix this in the 5 years I've worked there
Kayden Watson
That's how it's supposed to work. Running a debit card as credit is a feature, not a bug.
James Kelly
What's the point of it? Sliding is faster than touch or chip.
Not only that but bank apps have tremendous power by requiring pre approving purchases
Ethan Torres
>order two mcdoubles, a mcchicken, 20 chicken nuggets, 2 large fries, and a mcflurry
Wanna know how I know you are fat?
Juan Phillips
>US gets chip & pin in 2003 >It sucks >Free market tells it to fuck off >Obama now requires it Fucking Eurofags
Jackson Green
Yup.
.t cashier
The company that leases ATMs and card readers to stores nearby has a monopoly in the area so it's only their ATMs and their readers that customers are forced to use and cashiers are forced to operate. Shit runs on phone lines even though we can just as easily hook up an ethernet cable to them, our landlord is a literal jew though and doesn't allow any store or restaurant to have internet access. Old kike will not allow better equipment that costs a little bit now if it means faster service later.
Nathaniel Nguyen
>steal a debit card >spend all the money by running it as credit ???
Tyler Thompson
There's supposed to be hard limits on what you can spend in credit without being denied. As always, merchant assumes responsibility.
Justin Gomez
I've always thought this was dumb as fuck. I always just run my debit card as credit so I don't have to put in a pin. What's the fucking point of the PIN if you can just do that shit?
Grayson Garcia
I am ashamed to reply to your shit tier bait Ahmed, but I feel compelled to do so. I am a combat veteran three times over and have been around the world many times. When I greentexted the story of OP from my point of view 11 hours ago, I forgot something. I forgot that unless you live in Poland, Czech Republic, San Marino, Slovakia, or very few other countries then you are without hope. WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT SOME FILTHY JEW (((CHIP))) SYSTEM???? Oh, let's make fun of amerilards because they can't pay interest to professor Goldman as efficiently as we cultured superior Europeans can.... Man, you are wrong! America may be less than 60% white but the whites here worth their salt look at you and your state of affairs and cry on the inside. Our ancestors weep as you destroy our homelands. I don't care what you say to make fun of me, if you are white and have an ounce of self respect and an ability to critically think for yourself you know deep down there is a problem. I have personally killed dozens of Muslim extremists, but you continue to allow your women to be subjugated and your traditions to be spat upon. If you continue down this path, in three generations the legacy of your ancestors will be erased. I don't care what you attack me with - I am willing to kill again if I am backed into a corner or if my people are subjugated - what can you say for yourselves? You can pay quickly in the store with your card? You are an embarrassment.
Alexander Hernandez
yeah then you could backcharge and the merchant would be burned that's why bitcoin sellers all require your ID
Blake Campbell
He already said he was American
Samuel Cooper
More like a teacher trying to force kids to do shit they don't want to desu
Colton Hughes
THIS IS CHEESEBURGER LAND
I give it 10 years before gas pumps start using them.
You also shouldn't have to do CHIP + PIN
Hudson Allen
nope, almost all companies default to a payment card now, and ask you if you want a direct deposit during the first month. >bank takes three days to make a check do they not have printers? to your credit, most new bank accounts in the US still give you a complimentary checkbook.
Isaac Adams
several pumps already use contactless in various forms. the problem is the poor mom and pop gas stations that were barely able to afford the credit card based pump when that came out.
Evan Ortiz
Is this mutated copypasta? 6.7/10
Eli Carter
No user it isn't pasta. I typed that on my phone.
Alexander Murphy
I always use cash
Christian Fisher
i don't care about the required pin since i use a debit card for most any non-cash purchases, but I hate how slow the service is. It's awkward waiting there for a good half a minute.
Jaxson Smith
Wow user I feel really motivated now. I think you changed my life. First thing I'll do tomorrow is trash the card from my local kebab place!!! Grrrr
Logan Murphy
Sounds like American education.
Jack Davis
I've been using a chip VISA for 2 years now. Even before that, every card I had required a pin number.
Why do people keep saying pin numbers wasn't a thing?
James Russell
Is this a troll thread? I'm from the US and my debit card supported NFC since 2007
John Hall
>my debit has a $300 limit anyway on single transactions
nice try m8
Blake Thompson
Sup Forums has been living the american dream ie: pay with credit
Isaac Price
Same here in Canada.
>work in Costco >allow tap payments up to $100 on a debit or $200 on a mastercard >visa peasants can get the fuck out >never hear from members/customers that they've been scammed or had money stolen >americans being luddites as per usual >2063 >they finally adopt the metric system
Julian Green
ahhh the metric system, that's the only i want to the us to adopt
Sebastian Thomas
Even If I ran my card as credit, it still asks for a Pin.
