if u want to go beyond 1Gb/s u need cat6 cable.
ive read about less interference which might be good for apartment building internet?
>>>/sqt/
Less radiation might be better for security, too.
Cat5 is UTP, Unshielded Twisted Pairs.
They shouldn't radiate or crosstalk, but they do.
>not cat6a
Enjoy your inferior copper
So are most Cat 6 cables.
Enjoy your inferior brain. Retard.
>Cat5 is UTP, Unshielded Twisted Pairs.
They make it in STP too
>if u want to go beyond 1Gb/s u need cat6 cable.
No, you can use cat5e at 2.5 and 5 gbit.
>b-b-but that isnt real
It is, switches like Cisco Catalyst 3850s support it.
There are reasons to use CAT6 or CAT5e, but most people don't require that need.
How do you require a need, you fucking retard. Kill yourself, dumbshit.
>i have absolutely no idea what this thread is about, and that makes me feel stupid and angry
>better post an animated gif
What did he mean by this?
Are you OP?
getting this much triggered on needs
If you want longer runs you need Cat6
I always just get cat6 since there isn't much price difference between cat5e and cat6. No reason for cat5e for anything unless you can get a really good deal on it.
Copper technology is dead. 10Gbit in consumer market will fibre. So there is no point in putting cat6 "for the future".
Good cat5e cable will pass all tests up to 80m. Cat6 is recommended only for extremely long runs.
>Cat6 is recommended only for extremely long runs.
Or, if it's installed in a high noise environment, runs even less than 30m can benefit from Cat6.
Copper isn't dead even at the enterprise 40Gbit level.
>10Gbit in consumer market will fibre.
exception it isnt. The reason why ToR switches use fiber for 10GbE is due to power consumption. Consumer gear has low enough port counts that no one is going to care that it uses 10 watts more power.
cat6? I've got cat7 that I bought from amazon last december. As far as I know its just cat6 with more shielding.
Cat6 is sturdier and less prone to breaking and interference so I bought only cat6.
cat7 is what is unnecessary unless you are some kind of ISP
There is no reason to buy cat5e anymore considering that cat6 is basically the same price.
