Why is Apple the only company capable of producing a good trackpad?

Why is Apple the only company capable of producing a good trackpad?

Because they cost more and that price is factored into "muh unreasonable premium" but other manufacturers don't do the same thing because they put all of the budget into making their specs look better on paper. The same is true of the chassis, etc. You'll find that people here miss this fact but then advocate for similarly-priced machines simply because they're not Apple.
>muh bias

>Clickpad
Sure is great not being able to have any accuracy

>comically huge trackpad
>only one button
>no dedicated buttons, have to press down the whole thing
>no chiralscrolling, instead gay two finger gestures
>have to move finger like some retard to even move the mouse a tiny bit

lel

>using trackpad

It's annoying as fuck sometimes.
I just want to get out of a page in OSX and it swings me to this dumb system notifications page every time.
Maybe it's the OS or something.

My surface book track pad is great

Autistic engineers don't understand human interfaces (i.e., the people in Sup Forums who will actually claim Trackpoints are better)
Marketers don't give a shit as long as the specs look good on paper

>Implying apple designers DO give a shit about ergonomics
kek, enjoy having to use a sharp block of aluminium as a palmrest

They aren't anymore.

Trackpoints are better. I don't have thinkpad anymore but I will forever miss my X61 clitmouse, it was the most comfortable laptop pointing device I have ever used. If you think otherwise:
1) you have never used thinkpad clitmouse for longer than 5 minutes, or
2) you are too much of a brainlet to readjust to using something that you haven't used for last 10 years
And both solutions are shit when compared to mouse anyway.

Windows driver are shit. The track pad on t410 is on Linux but it's complete shit on Windows.

...

I freaked out when I first figured this out in a store. Like holy shit how do you carry that shit in your hand?

Applecucks just don't care because it "looks good"

You don't have to click if you don't want to. You can change that to just tap.

Which fucking sucks.

Why is Apple the only company not capable of producing non-explosive electronics?

Because the engineers have to follow what the designers say, not the other way around like in every other tech company

Chromebook Pixel is the only one I've ever found that directly competes.

because patents

It's literally the only feature on Mac hardware that stands out. Apple sucks at nearly everything, so I'd expect them to be doing something right. I still prefer the old trackpads like pic related.

Almost every chromebook has a really good trackpad. My $150 chromebook trackpad btfo the trackpads from windows laptops hundreds of dollars more.

The Chromebook Pixel has an excellent trackpad.

How so?

You never really know if you were successful or not

Software patents on movement post processing on multitouch trackpads that they won't license to competitors.

I have literally never had a problem with accuracy using my Macs trackpad. Do you have problems with your fine motor controls, user?

Clit mouse is better

I have a surface book and a MacBook. The trackpads are equally good

>tfw samsung copied even that

The cursor doesn't move at all when clicking with the Apple trackpad. It doesn't even matter if you click with your index finger or thumb. You can even rest your thumb on the trackpad and navigate with your index finger with no loss in cursor accuracy.

t. someone who has never user a mac trackpad

Patents.

I bet these anons haven't even used a touchpad on anything Apple in the last 7 years or so.
Yeah, back in the day, trackpoints were much better than touchpads. They aren't anymore. An Apple touchpad is significant better in speed and precision. I have both, and have spent a damn lot of hours using both.
Don't take my word for it. Go check them both out side-by-side, see for yourself after a few minutes of getting used to it. Don't just repeat a meme you heard on a Japanese whale harpooning board.

they're the reason I can't use any other laptops anymore. apple trackpads seem to be 2+ years ahead of the competition.

i havnt tried the chrome book pixels though.

>only one button

Jesus, can we stop with this dumb, untrue propaganda? Two-finger click right-clicks. It's actually better, because your fingre doesn't have to be in a specific place in order to trigger a right-click, as it does on trackpads with physical buttons below.

That's happening because you're swiping in from the very edge of the trackpad. Turn that behavior off, or watch your edges.

No it isn't. I tried the floor model.

Yeah, it's funny. Precision Trackpads for Windows now exist, as do the proper drivers, but manufacturers still neglect to build them in, even on 'flagship' models. It's like the corner-cutting is pathological at this point.

>Two-finger click right-clicks. It's actually better,
Enjoy shitty gestures

display is good
battery is good
build quality is good
keyboard is more or less ok?

If you prefer the "old trackpads" than you never used a macbooks trackpad. Stop being a faggot and stop acting like a "tech-patrician", cause you prefer older and worse techs over newer and better.

You mean you don't get visual feedback? You know, when the fucking thing you clicked on actually does something in the OS?

This. Typical engineer responses, "This won't work because X." Jobs would've said "Make it work or you're fired," and that's how Macs got working trackpads.

Samsung is pretty good at it.

Why are shill threads so easy to spot?

>new displays are sub par
>new batteries are smaller
>new models have shit build quality
>new keyboards have no travel and terrible feedback
what went wrong?

Patents

The trackpad on the Pixel LS is actually really good, not sure if Google designed it or not

Honestly, as someone who usually hates trackpads the MacBook Pro trackpad is lovely.

Nearly gave me a heart attack when I pressed it with the system off and thought it was broken. Didn't realize there was no physical movement occurring when I pressed it. Was even more impressed after that.

...

t. liar

I've tried the Apple touchpad and it didn't seem like anything special. Maybe its superiority is more evident over time, but I'm not going to drop tons of $$ on it when it doesn't have a stellar first impression to differentiate it from the competition.

you can go in your system settings and change the right click action to the bottom right corner of the touchpad

this desu senpai

Posting from my Air now which I love, but everything he says is true, plus the screen is pretty shit and the chargers fray no matter how gentle you are.

surface book trackpads are literal dogshit

>windowsfags will defend this shit stain

>t. mactoddler

Yeah. Elon Musk does the same thing, and that nigga re-landed a rocket right-side-up.

Because everyone else produces pretty much the same product, the only way they can effectively compete with one another is on price. So they use the cheapest shit they can find to cut costs.

If you go with a premium machine that isn't typically bought by the Best Buy weekly special shopper, I wager they'll have a nicer trackpad.

>clitmouse

what does this have to do with only apple using quality trackpads in their laptops? because every other brand doesn't work close to 100% of the time, this is basic fact.

>1 thread about an objectively superior trackpad determined by scientific testing
>100's of responses from poors and mexicans

I use a superior Mac trackpad but my heart goes out to every family member and friend I see struggling with their garbage PC trackpads

Steve died and they made a faggotry who specializes in outsourcing and making high profits the CEO.

Now quality is in the shitter.

...

There's no such thing as a good trackpad.

/thread

IBM "Think" slogan -> Apple "Think Different" slogan
IBM TrackPoint -> Apple Trackpad

I us a wacom intuos pro as a trackpad, and it is without a doubt the comfiest trackpad.

Chromebook trackpads are usually pretty good.

Actually, Apple recently got rid of that feature. You HAVE to press down to "click" on a pane of glass that doesn't move anyway. At least, that's how it is on the standard MacBook, anyway.

I miss the Chromebook Pixel with all my heart. Wish I never gave it away. :(

any touchpad without Windows is a good trackpad. My dell's inspiron (mid range) trackpad is equally as fluid as Mac's with Fedora 25.

Fuck off

god tier screen?
god tier build quality?

Clickpads are the only kind of trackpad that are remotely good.

You have great handwriting

you don't have to click it faggot. enable tap to click.

You know you're debating with 15 years old when they can't admit the god-tier trackpad the macbooks have, but one day they'll try one for more than 20 minutes, with the tap enabled, all preferred gestures activated, and they're gonna fall in love with it.

you mean a great handwriting for a child?

ITT the old "YOU HAVE TO CLICK LOL" meme

just tap, you fucking autist
