Hey, what do you think about ReacOS?
Office 2010
bout to get sued
Newfag.
could have been good, but abandonware
Well when I was a child I used to play around with it, installed it on my computer via CD, but then I grew up and put away my childish things and this was one of them.
Right now it's just a dream, but I don't see it coming into fruition anytime soon as it's basically been stuck like that since I was testing it those many years ago.
im sure you spent alot of days and years on this site
>host taskbar wont fuck off during rdp sessions
into the trash it goes
should be on kids react
idiot
They've been making significant progress the last few years
lol the irony
0.4.4 came out a week ago
I think it would be useful if there wasn't Linux with perfectly functional VMs in case you need some or another legacy Windows thing.
What's up with the XP theme?
Wasn't ReactOS about recreating gpl Win2k?
It's a nifty idea but, at the rate things are moving for it, it isn't worth following closely.
But you can theme it :)
reactos development stretches back over 20 years, they know what they're doing
I think it's shit made for retards.
noone asked you rajeesh
Perfect for you then
We're sure that you didn't
It's
shit
/dpt/ should be on kids react
...
It'll work in the archive. The user who posted is simply planning for the future.
Wtf is it with Russians and DOTA?
ITT retard children
It's extremely useful when reversing undocumented winapi shit
Botnet
that's interesting. how would you reverse engineer something when it's been re-engineered. they literally can't have undocumented windows features if they don't know about them. At least not all of them.
also, i almost tried it but there was a big nasty "this is beta software, not fully compatible, blah, blah" message. it scared me off. I just want things to werk.
>that's interesting. how would you reverse engineer something when it's been re-engineered. they literally can't have undocumented windows features if they don't know about them. At least not all of them.
reactos is the closest thing to windows source code publicly available, this is what makes it impressive
no, it's not actual microsoft source code, and it's only as complete and accurate as has been determined from seeing what microsoft binaries and third party software do (for example, if you make a particular API call and get a particular answer back, with enough probing you can figure out what it's doing to reach that answer, and write new code that mimics the behaviour)
>also, i almost tried it but there was a big nasty "this is beta software, not fully compatible, blah, blah" message. it scared me off. I just want things to werk.
then this isn't suitable for you, this isn't (yet) a complete drop-in replacement for windows
if you're a programmer and want to know more about undocumented windows internals, then outside of getting a job at microsoft, reactos is the next best thing
Also windows symbol store is great for reversing, a lot of it is public, which helps translate reactos shit to current kernel
>Warning OS Page Poo Merrory Low
>OS Page Poo Merrory
>Page Poo
>Poo
>Poo fucking Merrory
>1997 was 20 years ago
Where the fuck has the time gone?
They are escapable along with fucking peruvians.
Also, that dota version is years old btw.
Who are you quoting?
>19 years old
>Still hasn't hit version 1
pff, the GNU kernel (HURD) has been going since 1990 and is currently 0.9
time can be scary sometimes
Backwards
it'd be nice but
>doesnt support NTFS
>cant install from usb
might as well just go back to 98 if i wanted to deal with that shit
Another nice project that Linux brainwashing and pampering has left without human and monetary resources.
reactos has nothing to do with linux
If it were in a usable state, it could be used to run legacy applications, just like people do with FreeDOS. I don't think it will ever reach that point.
Stop commenting on topics that you don't have any knowledge of. You're the worst type of people.
A game of catch up and loose played on a field that nobody has been interested in for nearly two decades.
Well, I mean, it's no TempleOS, is it?
i NEVER got an installation to work
>ever
It's hard to tell, but I see no reason for it never to catch up. I think the real question is whether it will be in 5-8 years when a Windows XP~7 OS is still fairly widely useful or in 20+. In the latter case it will be just a toy for hobbyists and crazy legacy enterprise installations like OS/2 today.
this post should have been "What do we think about ReactOS?"
would've been a good meme, man
