Anybody got any experience with Royal Glam wrist rests or wooden wrist rests in general?
I have a $25 chink one which is pretty great. It comes with a smooth coating that wears off pretty quickly, but it's still comfy even without it. The wood grains feel pretty nice, and I enjoy typing with it.
>she's 18
how is that possible
...
Have you ever tried a cloth one?
I ask myself that question pretty often.
I've tried one of those rubber Grifiti ones which were decent, but too cheap. Cloth ones, like a towel, just feel kinda pointless. I like hard rests to make sure my wrists are leveled, and a soft one like cloth, while more comfortable, kinda defeats the purpose IMO.
Grifiti wrist rests also tend to get grimy and flaky over time. They are nice for what they are I suppose.
Yeah, I got rid of mine because the cloth was peeling off, the rubber was full of dents and it was getting dirty. Still pretty alright as a cheap wrist rest, but this wooden one was relatively cheap and feels a lot higher quality, and shouldn't have any of those issues on the Grifiti one.
I have one of those pc gaming ones and it's comfortable and not too soft but it does get grimy and flaky and cleaning it is a pain. Just wondering if a wooden one is not uncomfortable due to being too hard.
Good afternoon /mkg/
>Just wondering if a wooden one is not uncomfortable due to being too hard.
I don't find it uncomfortable personally, though as I said on that other post, I like them because they're hard which keeps my hands straight, which for me is the point of a wrist rest, not just being something soft. The surface is smooth and rounded, so no sharp edges or anything, just hard wood, and that's fine for me. My wrists are kinda fucked and it being hard doesn't bother me at all.
i made some for my dox from birch plywood. It's easy enough, just make one yourself.
Alternatively just roll up a towel.
that ganss looks tired, maybe you should put it to bed

How hard is it to build a keyboard?
Talking as someone with no real experience here.
cringe
it is tedious as fuck
like lego and some beginner soldering. it's quite easy if it is not fully custom and a new design.
just try it. the lets split 40% is a cheap option for trying it with a pcb.
only tough part is soldering if you have no experience, but you can get solder kits that let you practice beforehand.
I made an album of my first build if you want to get an idea of the process: imgur.com

Thanks for the reply.
If I like these kind of keyboards, with the arrow keys tucked into the bottom right and the windows key what would I need to buy to get started and would I be forced to go ANSI over ISO?
I've looked at the TADA68 and the Red Scarf II ver c, are there any others?
I was thinking of installing either Cherry Clears or Tactile Greys.
The B.mini kit also has this layout. With the kit you can choose between ISO or ANSI when you build it.
You still found it
I like dem chink nopres.
In bed with old keycaps
/mkg/ are there any decent numpads one can get in Europe, the EU specifically? I've found some noname shit on Amazon, but there's almost no information about them of course.
outemu blue switches, lubed. abs caps, sends accurate scancodes. metal plate on top which acts as a switch plate, plastic bottom.
very good for the price, the caps are garbage though. the price being less than 20 bucks that is.
oh and it has a braided very long cable. 2m i think.
You mean the one in the image I posted? If so that sounds pretty nice, it's only 19EUR. I don't particularly like its font but the caps can be replaced.
These looks quite nice, but the 50 day shipping is pretty brutal. I'll keep the models in mind though, maybe I can find them withing the EU too.
>You mean the one in the image I posted? If so that sounds pretty nice, it's only 19EUR. I don't particularly like its font but the caps can be replaced.
yeah that exact one, i have it sitting in front of me. it is pretty nice. i just remembered i might actually have some caps for it.
That's really quite nice, I'll probably get it since it's cheap enough that I won't regret it too much even if I don't like it. Now that I think about it I can also salvage some caps from an older keyboard, so it's settled.
considering getting a CM Quickfire Rapid as my first mech keyboard. Should I spend a little more for something of much greater value or is the quickfire fine?
also, how does Sup Forums clean their keyboard/keycaps?
Needs to look good.

Is the pok3r rgb worth its price tag? Compared to let's say something half as expensive such as the anne pro
Where can I get a cheapish ergodox case, I'm in USA. I'm checking taobao but it's not my favorite option.
>try typing test the day that I got my first mechanical keyboard with blue switches
>around 80 wpm
>try it again today a month and a half later
>102 wpm
I guess these things actually aren't a meme. Does anyone type faster with o-rings installed? I've been thinking of getting some to reduce key travel time.
Any kind soul can tell me where I can get a Ducky One in Europe? I can't seem to find a shop selling the cherry clears + white backlit version.
I'd like to know too if anyone is willing to share.
Mechanical keyboards do really help with your typing though. I used to have a plank with blank caps... that helped me break a shitton of bad typing habits.
Saw this on an old thread. Anyone know what keyboard this is?
Should i get Aula F2012?
Is there anything better at that price range?+
some gook custom it seems
>numpad still on the right
leopold fc980m has a similar layout though it's a bit more spread out. i'm also curious as to what keyboard it may be (I'm hoping it's not a custom) since that's my ideal layout.
The layout is referred to as 1800 (based loosely off of an old Cherry board), you can find some custom pcbs, mostly korean customs

Hey Sup Forums is there anyway to remap the keys on 2 of the same model numpads plugged into the same computer?
I had this crazy idea of using two of these side by side but tilted 90 degrees to the left. The left one would have all the left hands alphabet and the keys on the top of the numpad would be ctrl shift and alt and tab etc. On the right numpad the escape key would be space and the key above it would be enter. Remap the rest as I need.
This seemed like possibly a really cheap way to have an ortholinear keyboard and a split keyboard to test out if i like those features before I make or buy an ergodox or plank.
What is the brand of these switches?
Complete noob with keyboards here Sup Forums. Are there general rules of thumbs when looking at keyboards? Specific brands to go for and avoid? I have a max budget of $120 American and prefer cherry reds. Currently using a Corsair M65 tenkeyless cherry red and while decent, I like all the cool keycaps you guys have.
Would prefer to stay tenkeyless If possible
please stop.
Thoughts on james donkey 619 with kailh brown switches?
I would rather get 619 with Gaterons. I have only bad experience with Kailh switches

k70, Masterkeys pro L
It doesn't have to come with keycaps. I want the board black.
Just buy thick pbt cherry profile keycaps dude. What's the point of getting a new keyboard with the same switches (assuming you meant corsair k65)
Tossing up between OEM and cherry profile keycaps. It seems impossible to get cherry singles and modifiers though. Am I wrong?
Let's say your company allows you to buy a keyboard for your desk at the office.
What would you get for maximum comfyness and aesthetic without becoming the special snowflake?
I'm thinking about getting a realforce.
> Unicomp is too loud

Right, but the kailh ones are cheap from gearbest.
Only 78 aud.
>caring about what others think
If you want a gay, completely out there keyboard, get one.
Very kawaii setup m8; I saw you post before and I am very jelly of your purple lighting vibe.
Mfw too poor for rgb lights (but has rgb memeboard anyways)
Also kawaii memeboard, I hope it sleeps comfy.
Just get this tenkeyless version. It is cheaper and has gaterons
gearbest.com
chinese knockoff of cherry mx blue switches.
Yes but what brand?
Hung Lo brand.
>Not caring about the chit chat at the coffee machine.
It's like you hate your career.
XMIT keyboard arrived today.
The springs are lighter than I expected. It's kind of pleasant.
Another reason for MX Brown.
mx browns are still fairly loud to normies, you could make them as loud as your regular rubber-dome, but they'd still feel like shit. A realforce would be more suited for an office environment since it looks professional and sounds like a really nice rubber-dome, and also feels the part. Topre is very nice to type on.
MX browns are not.
But how does magnet work?
RS84
Its a ZZ96 with DSA quartz. Taken from leddit
If you've tried any linear gateron switches, how would they compare?
did you get the 70g or 50g springs
ZZ96.
Also look at compact SQ, 1800, and LZ if you are interested in similar layouts.
I'm joining the autistic secret club through the Realforce gate.
I'm decided on using a TKL and 45g.
>should I get the ergonomic weight version?
>should I get the silenced version?
Also, I'll remap caps lock to ctrl.
Where can I get a replacement key the size of caps lock but with ctrl written instead?
Is the magicforce82 on massdrop good quality?
The red dragon
Its not bad.
build one, ship one in from europe or get a chinese one.
A lets split is probably cheaper. The pcb is like ten bucks.
Look out for pbt keycaps, switch plates, detachable cables, build quality, the switches used, the layout and especially programmability on a firmware level.
I don't think there are prebuilts this cheap with cherry clears.
An ergodox or a kinesis advantage.
ergonomic weight is a buzzword. Just so you know.
>A lets split is probably cheaper. The pcb is like ten bucks.
I already have 2 of the cheap mech numpads from amazon that are like $15-$20, one for work one for home. The pcb is cheap but the switches and caps would easily make a let's split cost more. The keycool 22 key numpad I posted a picture of is $24 from mechanicalkeyboards.com.
Plus I have no real way to make a case for it. Also no experience building a keyboard though I am confident I could and plan to in the future.
I did some research it seems remapping individual boards is pretty simple for GNU/Linux which is my main OS. I am planning to bring my work numpad home tomorrow to test this out. I did also discover the numpad key sends no scancodes so that is an unusable key which is unfortunate.
I was wandering around Youtube and came across a video of a keyboard being used as a spectrum analyzer. As ricer as this is, the ten year old me would have loved this. Hell I built my own spectrum analyzer out of various LEDs then and though it was neat shit. Having a keyboard that did the same back then would have been neat shit.
I'm in the same situation. Probably getting Topre realforce since I'm in Japan and it's sold everywhere.
Like this guy said MX brown is still fairly loud. I have one but can't use it at office without people warning me to not use it.
for such a simple design you only need a router and four little boards.
for an ergodox case you would need a router and a routing template or access to a cnc router.
i don't think your contraption will be comparable to what an ergodox feels like, the ergodox and other diy boards are fully programmable through firmware, it has thumb clusters, the columns are displaced a bit to fit natural fingerlength better and it has way more keys.
Still sounds like a fun little experiment.
good luck.
Thanks
thanks for the info. This is more to get the feel of ortholinear keys and a split design. It should be comparable to a planck or let's split.
Yo-yo! I'm a male and I want a mechanical keyboard with leds that change colors and have different modes and a numerical keyboard. Which should I take?
>browns
>loud
Well at least they like a quiet office, I guess. Better than the madhouse "open plan" crap.
If someone said that to me I'd probably come in the next day with my Model F and start hammering on it as soon as they walked by.

>I am poorly socialised.
Decent ISO 60%s that aren't impossible to get hold of? I'm finding getting a decent non-RGB pok3r is difficult. Any suggestions?
Build one. Or look harder for pokers. There is not exactly a ton of demand for ISO boards.
Hey faggots
I found my perfect keyboard on Chinese social media. Nyt body is ready fire the Asian century!
