Mpv a shit

How do we fix MPV?

the problem is windows

You clearly an idiot who doesn't understand what's actually going on.

the problem goes away if you kill yourself
prove me wrong

the problem is clearly mpv

>I-I-I-Its not My Favorite Program, I-I-I Swear!
>I-I-Its clearly you, you are wrong!

>doesn't even attempt proving me wrong

Not an argument.

Nobody is going to comment that OP is watching some obscure Asian dance show?

And before you say it, no, you're not Asian, OP.

>Doesnt even know how burden of proof works

Learn what hardware acceleration is (and the fact mpv isn't doing it by default), and kill yourself out of shame.

>Burden of proof
Clearly neither do you. It's adorable how you uneducated little millennials have taken the term to mean "one side of the argument is required to prove their claims, whereas the other isn't (and obviously the one that isn't is the one that I'm on)." That's not Burden of Proof, that's called bias.

The burden of proof is on someone who is claiming to have absolute knowledge of something, not on someone who is asking others to prove them wrong.

>and the fact mpv isn't doing it by default

it's not able to do it at all

wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mpv#Hardware_Decoding

It works. But it breaks the cool lua scripts like cropping.

Im not OP, to be clear. But gramps, OP provided proof (albeit shitty proof), while the replies did not, all they did was make claims and ad hominims.

The burden of proof is not on the person who is told to go kill themselves. If not, tell me why you shouldn't go kill yourself with the m16 you used when you served?

Hell, did it better than you could.

>Windows

>posts arch wiki, with fixes for loonix

I'm aware of that.
It was just the clearest link with the options about mpv hardware decoding.

>mpv isn't doing it by default

>Watching kpop
>You should consider killing yourself before having any babies

as far as i know, there are no hw decoders in mpv for h265 10bit on WINDOWS, for an intel igpu

now try MPCHC + madvr and cry because your shitbox can't handle it

So I haven't been keeping up with the mpv thing recently. This is from probably a year ago. Anything that's now deprecated?

# Video
vo=opengl-hq:interpolation:tscale=oversample:cscale=ewa_lanczossharp:scale=ewa_lanczossharp:blend-subtitles
video-sync=display-resample
hwdec=auto-copy
no-border
framedrop=vo
ytdl-format=bestvideo+bestaudio/best

# Autofit
autofit=1280x720

sub-scale-with-window=yes
ass-use-margins=yes

#Audio

gapless-audio="yes"

I'm pretty sure that hardware decoders for 10bit h.265 don't exist at all.

>mpv for h265 10bit on WINDOWS, for an intel igpu
Not OP, but thats mpv's problem, not mine.

install gentoo

Wait, does autofit plus ytdl-format mean it will download a 4K video but downscale it to 720 for you to watch?

kaby lake igpu has it
also vp9

No the autofit part is just for mpv window placement on my desktop. I use a 1440 screen but only want videos to start in the 1/4 top left corner.

>doesn't know to post log

Kaby Lake, Poolaris, and Pascal do.

MPC-HC and Windows video app have the software for HW acceleration. MPV does not.

Kaby Lake supports 10bit HEVC. Same with latest Nvidia and tons of random Android boxes.

Also I don't even remember if youtube-dl supports 4K, but since mpv does do auto rescaling on the fly, if I did download a 4K vid, then my initial window settings should auto downscale that video to the window size.

Are there any downsides to hwdec? Is vdpau good? Is hwdec=auto the best setting?

bbb3d.renderfarming.net/download.html
go here, download the 4K 60FPS or Native 60FPS and try that instead.

by using vlc?

Yes, they changed the way "vo" options are passed. It no longer accepts them as a single long line of options, but rather you need to enter them separately. It's also recommended you use contain video options in separate profiles. You can then call them as you please.

Here are the relevant parts of my config:
# General and video playback
cache-default = 8192
cache = 30720
video-sync=display-resample
hwdec=vaapi
cdrom-device=/dev/sr0
dvd-device=/dev/sr0
geometry=0:0
autofit-larger=100%x713
force-window-position
#force-window=no
#fps=0
screen=0
profile=high

# [...]

# Economic video profile
[fast]
vo=opengl
scale=bilinear
dither-depth=no
dscale=bilinear
cscale=bilinear
tscale=linear
interpolation=no

[high]
# VO options
vo=opengl
scale=spline36
dither-depth=auto
dscale=mitchell
cscale=spline36
interpolation
tscale=triangle
tscale-clamp
opengl-swapinterval=1
temporal-dither
scaler-resizes-only
deband=no

Finally, they changed the default UI layout to a narror bottom bar. To return the old layout, create a new folder in your config location called "lua-settings". Put the following options in a new file, call it "osc.conf":
layout=box
deadzonesize=0
minmousemove=5

Back to OP. I just tested a 1080p video with and without hardware decoding just for giggles.

CPU usage with hw decoding: 7-15%
CPU usage without hw decoding: 50%

>inb4 4k
I'm using a 6-year-old integrated GPU on a 768p screen.

You dont. mpv a shit

>gook shit

HW acceleration is your problem.

b-b-but muh 10bit animu!11

I don't know what's more sad. The one(?) guy who keeps shitting on MPV and baiting or the people who keep falling for his shit.

Sup Forums, are there any scripts that allow you to minimize your player with one key?
Because i am pretty sure there is no internal option for that shit.

Are you afraid of your mom walking in on you watching furry porn? Sad!

Never greentext

>Open up MPV by itself
>14.3MB of RAM

>Open up MPC-HC by itself
>6.4MB of RAM

>Open up MPC-BE by itself
>5.8MB of RAM

Really makes me think.

No, but i am embarrassed to watch anime in 2017.

I thought it was a meme but it really is true. Maybe I should use MPC HC so my dankpad doesn't overheat too much

do you use mpc-hc with madvr?

not yet

You can tell those girls look like absolute shit under their makeup.

with madvr it's under 5% CPU, but still not as much as mpv

Oh look it's that Sup Forumsbaby again who still can't figure out how to post debug output of mpv. mpv hardware decodes 10-bit h265 just fine.

>Makes retarded statement backed up with silly screenshots
>Doesnt even know how burden of proof works

Oh the irnoy

Are you on Windows? Just press WIN + D

actually i am asian...

Yes.

So I have an ultimatium.

Um..

So, Bill Gates and Illuminati got a herd of nigger cattle ( OOOO WE GOT A HERD OF NIGGER CATTLE, WE GOT A HERD OF NIGGER CATTLE) They got a big herd of nigger cattle. Yippee Ki-Yay, we're nigger cattle herders. We got a herd of nigger cattle. They are the most docile fucking nigger cattle, we got 'em so docile, we got this awesome big fucking herd of nigger cattle. And they shit, and they sit there, and they watch TV, and they shit. It's the best fucking herd of nigger cattle. We took away all their guns, now they just shit, and we watch them and we're rich. We are so fucking rich, we have so much fucking money, we got this herd of nigger cattle, woooo, we're milking the fucking nigger cattle. It's the best thing ever.

So that's what the illuminati got, and I got a space alien.

So, here's my ultimatium: you can live in hell, with your herd of nigger cattle, or you can put me in charge of the Space Alien Temple. The third temple, okay, that Simple. Have fun with your nigger cattle 'cause I sure as hell ain't gonna fucking suck your fucking jew-nigger cock. Fuck yourself, you think I'm gonna fucking enjoy nigger cattle after I've had a fucking space alien? Are you fucking crazy? I've got a fucking space alien, of course I'm not gonna fuck with nigger cattle, fuck yourself! Enjoy your fucking nigger cattle! You got the nigger cattle, You got the nigger cattle, You got the nigger cattle, GO GO GO GO GO! You got the nigger cattle, you got a fucking herd of nigger cattle, we got 'em so docile, they just shit all day, ain't that great?

sure it is, shill.

so why don't you enlighten us yourself. what IS actually going on?

Works on My Machineā„¢

mpv is more Linux centric. I don't even think it supports hardware decoding in Windows. The best you can do is do OGL/DX video output, but that isn't hardware decoding. If you're on Windows, you're best off using MPC-HC. In Linux, mpv has vaapi/vdpau support so it's fine there.

>>I don't even think it supports hardware decoding in Windows

mpv.io/manual/master/#options-hwdec
>dxva2: requires --vo=opengl with --opengl-backend=angle or --opengl-backend=dxinterop (Windows only)
>dxva2-copy: copies video back to system RAM (Windows only)
>d3d11va: requires --vo=opengl with --opengl-backend=angle (Windows 8+ only)
>d3d11va-copy: copies video back to system RAM (Windows 8+ only)

If you are having problems you post logs, it's that simple.

still no documentation for mpv hving h265 10bit support on windows, none

but since you're so smart, do tell us (step by step) how to "post logs" on mpv for Windows.

archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/thread/S59102701#p59136851

Can someone name this filter?

It's sharper-than-ewa_hanning-but-retains-the-property-of-not-aliasing-correctly-antialiased

I don't care, I use VLC

>still no documentation for mpv hving h265 10bit support on windows, none
mpv supports the standard hw accel APIS dxva2 and d3d11va, you don't need anything extra for documentation. If you want proof when h265 10-bit support added:
github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/acf239a45c17e474dd9c266f018f1502e1e13587

>but since you're so smart, do tell us (step by step) how to "post logs" on mpv for Windows.
Jesus christ. Run mpv from windows command line. Debug messages will appear there

Okay, but is there a real name someone could give it?

>Jesus christ. Run mpv from windows command line. Debug messages will appear there

just tried it: it doesn't. be more specific

Learn how to computer.

>windows and linux are the same

you learn, retard

google it. do you like breastfeeding?

>just tried it: it doesn't. be more specific
If you can't figure out that little, use SMPlayer. It's a GUI that uses mpv underneath to help people like you. Enable hardware decode under that.
smplayer.sourceforge.net/en/mpv

>i also don't know how to do this, but i will pretend i do

Don't project Sup Forums.

i already enabled hardware acceleration on mpv, and it doesn't work. tried all the settings.

Do other settings like mute and loop work?

yes, you can clearly see the no-frame being enabled.. so the commands are working

Try adding this in your config
log-file=C:\mpv.log

your computer is bad
12% for me, no lag or anything

>mac

Kek.

Not even a new $1500 MBP would run these videos since they use Skylake CPU, not Kaby Lake which has full 10bit H265 support.

Lets see how your Mac will run this:

amazon.com/clouddrive/share/mtyg4PV9MQVW2C8bLoNeIwnKv0kDuOTqgr3dSQLS9S3?_encoding=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0&mgh=1

New pro models with discrete GPUs have radeon pro 460 Polaris inside, that supports 10-bit hevc.

it's a custom-built hackintosh.

I won't download gigabytes of weeb trash though.
First 10 seconds played just fine.

>starting at $2400

>being poor

Tried it, didn't like.

Tried it, liked.

haasnsharp

danny!

I fixed mpv buy opening the Applications folder and dragging the mpv icon to Trash.

Literally the worst player ever.

Why did you post twice?

heres your damn log:

my.mixtape.moe/oejpgb.log

Now, that's something ty. Hardware decoding fails because ffmpeg can't find the reference frame, not really caused by mpv itself. I think that's because of raw .ts footage. You should also try to test a 10-bit h265 mkv file.
jell.yfish.us/media/jellyfish-140-mbps-4k-uhd-hevc-10bit.mkv

Also you can try remuxing .ts into mkv and add your log to github issue for better answers

i think that might have been the problem.. i used a different korean uhd vid and it werked
