Ho lee shit! I just updated to nightly today, REEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As i know it's rely on directwhatever, so potentially never.

We have to use mpv, bro...

>memepvcucks on suicide watch

Finally these autistic manchildren can stop their dead project nonsense. I had the latest beta build from two weeks ago, but it's nice to see a stable release after a lot of months.

MPC-HC rekts any other video player in existance.

mpc-hc+madvr=perfection.

Why have you not joined the MPC-HC master race, Sup Forums?

Never. It's Windows Media Player 6.x for ever!

> Master Race

>MPC-HC master race
it's GLORIOUS MPC-HC USING MASTER RACE

all the "MPC is dead" fags BTFO

mpdn is better than this garbage.

MPC-HC MASTER RACE
dirty mpv peasants

I use mpv on windows because I prefer it to MPC-HC.
It's nice how it doesn't look like a Windows 95 application.

fucking finally

who here doing a clean install?

Me. madvr also updated today. lots of good shit, bro!

mpc-qt

I don't understand you all. Why are you forcing and bullying each other because of softwares and systems? Everyone can use whatever software he or she wants, for his or her reasons.

>1.7.10
>sixteen months later...
>1.7.11

Is there any reason to swoon over a maintenance update that took 16 months to release?

NORMIES REEEEEEEEEEE

Becaues its fun and we are lonely.

Potplayer is pretty good.

>Everyone can use whatever software he or she wants, for his or her reasons.

Not really, since every player uses ffmpeg in the end.

Pathetic software for pathetic windows babies.

already done

having a gui config makes things so fast and easy :)

New NGU AA is so good. Cant wait to watch some old anime and movies :D

b-but... without arguing wbout software... what we should talk about instead?~~
。・゚・(>﹏﹏

im using 1.4.2677.0
is it good upgrade

Doing a clean install. Post your configs. What are the things you do after you install MPC-HC and before you settle in to watch a movie with it?

1) Install mpc-hc 64 bit.
2) Install madVR.
3) Install xysubfilter beta 64 bit.
4) Open mpc-hc, set madvr as video renderer and xysubfilter beta as subtitle renderer. Set audio renderer to internal audio renderer.
5) Disable hardware acceleration in LAV video filters.
6) Configure madVR.

Profit.

>tfw you want comfy af kawaii codec pack
>fucking aYYMD drivers playing up for some reason
>either videa with crimson or comfy KCP with catalyst
>i have to choose

>still using a 2015 version of it and KCP
>everything play just fine

Why update

Just install everything separately. Codec packs is thing of the past!

yes but if i wanted to start fucking around i would go to my Gentoo install with custom compiled mesa and MPV, i want something comfy where i click on a fucking preset and it just werks desu

MPV BTFO

>preset
Madvr is just that nowadays. You barely need to click anything. Just set "let madvr decide".

Literally no new features apart from some Serbian language shit

It's nothing

A whole year for this???

What even is the point of codec packs?

What the fuck do you want?
It was already perfect playback, you just can't do more with it

Great post. Thank you for taking the time to post that. Not enough anons post thorough helpful posts anymore. You are a throwback user, user.

what's the reason for disabling LAV hw acceleration if you use madVR?

If you're using AMD and have a really low amount of RAM, for some reason.

To lure in dumbfags...

Yeah, like 10+ years in the past.

plenty of people use KCP , ill admit its outdated as FUCK but still

What's the difference between using that and just installing the filter's on your own? I've been doing that and everything play just fine.

allright, im gonna stop being a retard and go and attempt latest MPC-HC with latest madvr and see how it goes, will report back

I was referring to bad ones like shark and k-lite and other ones that "normies" are likely to install.

T-thanks... I can answer madvr question if anyone is interested. I can pretty much explain anything.
Nice! Good luck. You might want to install xysubfilterbeta for dem subtitle gains.

So what's the old NGU-low algorithm for cscale? Sharp low quality?

>windows fags

allright well, im officially /reformed/ , wiped KCP and installed madvr latest and mpc-hc latest and xysubfilter . I am now officially comfy and i dont need to jump video drivers

what about kawaii codec pack?

outdated desu

The IKCP devs are still alive and well, I guess they will update it if the pack stop playing 100% of shit in a flawless way

Yay! Below are settings you might like.
1) Enable reduce banding artefacts in artifact removal menu.
2) move subtitles: into active video area (especially good for animu) in zoom control options.
3.) Chroma upscaling: NGU sharp medium.
4.) Downscaling: SSIM 2D - strength 100%. Tick scale in linear light, and activate anti-ringing filter as well.
5.) Image upscaling: NGU Sharp medium quality (luma doubling). Set everything else to "let madvr decide".
6.) Rendering -> general settings: use Direct3D 11 for presentation.
7.) Tick enable smooth motion.
8.) Rendering -> trade quality for performance: untick everything except of "optimize subtitle quality for performance instead of quality".
Youre set! Should play any video you throw at it with great quality if you have even barely modern video card. You might want to check OSD for dropped frames (Ctrl+J) when video is playing.

>5) Disable hardware acceleration in LAV video filters
why?

For problem free playback basically.

Bump so mpv fags see were not ded.

MPVSHILLS BTFO
B
T
F
O

applied every single one of those settings
thanks based user

Is there any actual reason to use an external subtitle renderer over the default internal one? It seems to work fine.

As you may have noticed there was not much traction in the MPC-HC project in the recent months. We do apologize if you felt bad about that. Unfortunately, we were not able to provide as much development time as MPC-HC deserves. We believe MPC-HC is a very capable player and we want to keep it rocking for much more years to come. Sadly, currently, we don’t really have the manpower to do so. But this does not mean we want to give up here. We consider this release as a new starting point and hopefully, we will slowly but steadily make MPC-HC great again.

>he or she wants
>his or her reasons
why go out of your way to be so mean?

The mpc-hc development is almost dead.
Time to move to mpv or mpc-be/madvr.

I guess it's not dead yet.

>make MPC-HC great again.

MPC-HC confirmed for Trump player

*unzips dick*

Wonder if MPC-BE has surpassed the original by now? There have been constant updates for it since the orginal went silent.

CCCP update when?

*presents a matroska file with zlib-compressed A/V tracks*

Hope you don't choke on this because last time I tried you did.

I'd consider using this if it was open-source.

You're effin awesome, user! Thank you!
