Doesn't make sense to pay a couple hundred for a $50 watch, even with the sentimental value.
i agree!
Could try servicing it himself
post yfw pic related
The amount you'd spend on the proper tools to do so could easily be on par with or exceed getting a watchmaker to do it for you.
Have you guys seen these before? They're pretty expensive compared to Casios.
some comparison pics
I also don't know much about automatic watch repair. Check'd.
...
All the dates aand days and times are different. Its triggering me.
Also, why does casio make a slightly different face for the same damn module? Also, why do companies advertise WATER RESIST so much when all that means is it'll survive a handwashing, nothing more?
Ref number?
How do I avoid buying a fake rolex?
Also which style of rolex retains it's value most?
>How do I avoid buying a fake rolex?
Know how to spot them, only buy from ADs, etc.
SBGT019. The pictures don't do the dial enough justice.
Why won't casio make a digital watch with real stainless steel cases anymore?
It wouldn't cost that much, they'd more than cover it by making a watch maybe $5-10 more expensive. This toy plastic shit sucks.
Gud shit m8.
dat linen
>why do companies advertise WATER RESIST so much when all that means is it'll survive a handwashing, nothing more?
Maybe it used to have meaning before it became a marketing gimmick?
Casio used to write "Illuminator" on their watches with electroluminescent backlights. Eventually the name became popular, so they just started writing it on all their standard LED watches.
My understanding is the ILLUMINATOR moniker is for that green backlight that lights up the entire LCD instead of those gay lightbulbs that are kinda useless.
Its the difference between the F19 and the F106, probably same module but the F106 has an illuminator, and the F19 has the lightbulb thing.
Either way, it would be nice to not have ILLUMINATOR and WATER RESIST all over the watch face.
im considering getting a Movado for the minimalist design. any thoughts?
>movado
nine sell me your habring doppel 2 the 3 looks not as nice
He has a chrono COS, not a doppel 2.
only buy from AD or reputable auction house
There are less expensive and better minimalist watches.
oops
nine find a doppel 2 and sell it to me the 3 looks not as nice
that isn't minimal, though.
movados aren't swiss made, and aren't particularly great, especially not for $500+. If you want just a blank dial, there are other alternatives for less money.
>money doesn't matter to me
then you would have just bought it without asking anyone.
I don't think any dial can compete with this in terms of minimal.
I can't speak on the movement though.
That's disgusting.
I don't think so.
But whatever, have an opinion I guess.
>muh minimal
Get nomos, or one of the junghans 3 handers.
I think a reeses peanut butter cup could compete with it.
The ultra minimal designs with no indices, date window, or even branding is for fashionable nerds.
pic related is about as minimal as I'd get, but I'd probably get one with a date window. has the right idea.
Yes. It's as bad as you'd expect.
Cheap feeling, the leather strap is actually unwearable, bad qc (the dial printing on mine is fucked up), terrible accuracy (i'd say it loses a minute every 12 hours).
I love it. Got mine for $40 shipped.
I have the black dial but I should have held out for the white.
still saving up for the quartz version
Yes it is.
If you think just putting nothing on a dial is minimalist design, just go suck a couple hundred more cocks.
I think those look fucking awful. And at least with Luch you're not massively overpaying for a product that, in the end, is just bad at doing its task.
thanks friend
I don't really disagree, but want a single-handed 24 hour - I've only seen 12 hour Luch watches
No!
No!
It looks like a sort of 3x3 basketweave type thing.
Normally linen dial refers to something like this.
Indeed, if you're looking for 24h you'll have to pay more.
Luch just uses a regular movement with no minute or seconds hand. I'm sure the people working there today wouldn't even be able to make a 24h movement if theh tried.
Is there any real difference between the ~$30 smart watches and the ~$300 ones, if the most you're going to be using it for is answering calls/reading notifications/checking the time?
I should probably just get a normal 24hr watch I like and lose the minute and second hand
There needs to be more modern watches with linen dials.
Linen decorations were a trend in the 60's and 70's. They just aren't attractive enough. Also, linen is cheap shit, why not silk face dials?
If you get a similar texture out of silk, then sure.
Seiko should make their own jubilee dial
parents bought me a rolex for my graduation but I had them return it because it's for sandniggers and nouveau riche wankers
t. casio masterrace
You'd need to change the dial to something with long and clear indices every 5 minutes, and get a long and thin hour hand.
The cheapest (mechanical) 24h watches that I know of are Vostok Komandirskies (in the 35 case with automatic movement, so a bit more expensive than the usual Komandirskies). I have no idea about finding replacement hands or dials for them, apart from the Vostok-made ones that wouldn't fit the needs of a single-hand watch.
>Water resist (except certified divers with specific rating)
>automatic
>number of jewels
>shock resist
things that should be on a listing or in a manual, not on a watch face
...
Does this count?
you're an ungrateful cunt. I am torn because I can't imagine it would be amy better to keep it and not wear it than to be honest and have them return it. Still seems cunty somehow
It's comin' in the mail guys! I'm so excited
> 12k CHF
Great purchase m8 wear it in good health
No.
>static ball maze
>12k+
Meanwhile you can get an aluminum maze toy (revomaze) which uses a significantly more complicated CNC'd maze for a few hundred.
I'd also told them not to get something like that specifically before they bough it.
It was cunty, but I had warned them. Though if I know my mother she's not going to return it and keep it in a locker somewhere make it a complete, pointless waste of money
This is the only Patek I have found that makes me think it is unique and appealing, and has no comparable JLC substitute that is half or less money and all around preferable to me.
Am I strange or have I just not seen enough Pateks?
kim jong un has one of those
Thank you! If you want to make it an apparent feature, engrave that on the back, give me a clean aesthetic, with your company logo/brand name on the front, and numbers. I'm even fine with "swiss made" if it actually means something, or if its so small and unobtrusive like on this face . You never notice the japanese movement unless you stop and look at it. However, even that should be on the back and not on the watch.
Make people ask about the watch, not simply read what its features are.
post proof.
Not him, but here. It's not the exact same movado though.
I take it back then. I gave my girlfriend fair warning about gift watches, that if she wants to make it a surprise I may not like it and not wear it. Much less money than a Rolex though.
If my grandparents bought me a nice watch for graduation I would hope they let me pick it so I don't end up with a sea dweller on my 6.5 inch wrist, I don't know if I could bring myself to return it or sell it.
can I ask what the watch was?
Does JLC make a perpetual calendar chronograph?
I'm not a fan of Patek either, but then again it's not like I would ever be in the market for one
I don't understand the ten dollar shelf at walmart being filled with watches that say "QUARTZ" in big letters. I guess they figure most people don't know what the fuck it means and think its a feature.
there are plenty of other examples like "Sapphire" et cetera, but you learn to live with it if the rest of the watch is appealing
yes for like FIFTEEN GRAND iirc
JLC is truly the bargain brand for quality complications.
got any more stuff like that. Really interesting.
user asked for a perpetual calendar chronograph.
I misread, I am pretty tired. no probably not
but now I will fall back on my previous qualifier which was my own preference and I would prefer a perpetual calander AND a chronograph, rather than a Perpetual Calender chronograph
Screw that. I want a split second chronograph perpetual calendar with moonphase.
Do you guys really have 20k to throw around or are you just larping?
to be fair I didn't really qualify that though, grand complications aside, I really like JLC's variety and price. I was considering 25k and under pateks because thats around the cutoff for my "Maybe someday if I really want it when I am ready to retire" mark.
it was never meant to be an objective question
60 bucks.
worth it?
I don't have a slav shitter
the ones we are talking about now are a bit more than 20k.
I would spend 20k on a watch once or twice in my life if I could afford it without a loan, which isn't impossible it would just require an on job and some diligent saving.
its still fun to think about which 100k+ watches are nice and which ones look like shit to you
>its still fun to think about which 100k+ watches are nice and which ones look like shit to you
Ah, I totally agree.
even 20k is a stretch for me.
granted I have never had a full-time job, but still, most I could see myself spending would be like ~5,000
movement is CAL. 2609.H 19 JEWELS, btw. Do you know anything about it?
>most I could see myself spending would be like ~5,000
Well once you do that 4 times you can trade in your entire collection for a 20k watch and then send it flying at freeway speeds.
speaking of which, I dig this design. Not sure if there is a wristwatch like it.
Small seconds and moonphase are neat, most watches I see with moonphase incorporate a date
>No tourbillon
Might as well end yourself
>25k and under pateks
That's like a bmw 114i
You buy it because an m5 is good, but in the end it's just a crap car
hence my earlier post about three hand pateks and even their simple complications being done by JLC for fractions of the price and at a perfecrly acceptible level of quality for their price.
My retirement watch will likely be a JLC complication or possibly a lower end Patek unless I get stupid rich in which case the Lange digital comes to mind
>he took the bait
guy's story checks out dude, guy didn't want to look nigger rich and told his parents so beforehand.
rolex datejust(might be remembering it wrong, said something like that on the box I saw later), blue dial
yeah because your really wanted that omegle spergmaster right?
see I would argue the datejust is one of the least niggered up Rolexes, particularly if you put it on a leather strap
However I still understand
>t. casio master race
>omega mememaster
you what?
>t. casual untermensch
ftfy
alternatively there is this one (70 dollars)
case is objectively better.
Which do you prefer?
I don't think I follow the point you are trying to get across
as if
>datejust least niggered
Wut? I think you meant the oyster perpetual 39. The fluted bezel alone adds a few niggawatts.
you might bait me but I don't have anything better to do in the first place
yo 9fag, details on that rolex?
besides the milgauss i havent really seen a rolex that does it for me, but i love that
not every datejust has a fluted bezel. I used to hate the look of the fluted bezel but now I'm not too worried about it.
If you want to take down the niggerdry a notch or two bump down to 36mm
if we are being real the least nigga rolex would be a celini of some kind. Proba ly the square one that nineball posted the other day
Datejust doesn't have to have a fluted bezel.
And OP 34 or 36 would be less nig
so why cunty on the rolly then?
