Cheap upgradable laptops

I need help. I'm looking for a laptop under $300 that can have its RAM and SSD upgraded. Any ideas?

$279.00 w/Coupon Code EXTRA170

thinkpad t520

>thinkpad t520

Acer has always been good to me

Used Thinkpad X220/X230 or T420

>recommending consumer class laptops around here

If people stopped with the fucking thinkpad meme and crap like amd/Intel or meaningless fights this board could be readable

>blaming those of us that don't use pretty shiny consumer class shit hardware for others being fucking stupid

Yeah, you're not gonna get very far here, son.

The ThinkPad meme isn't funny anymore.

Would you rather buy a shit-tier new device for €300 or a used top-tier device for the same amount of money?
Guess any brand would be okay, not just Lenovo.

shit, this is a good deal

I don't refer to what OP should buy or whatever. I refer to the fucking nest of shitposting and forced circlejerk and memes that this board consists of nowadays.

In most of the threads which are not obvious baits, there is always an asshole insulting someone for liking or wanting X, or someone just spouting BUY A THINKPAD/INSTALL GENTOO/LOL WINDOWS/LOL YOU FELL FOR THE MEME and letting the thread derail into mindless shitposting.(though I guess this time it was me, sorry OP)

I guess this is another containment board.

coupon worked for me

i have just discovered that you can`t buy libreboot x200 anymore. only x220 which costs ~100 usd. %%:(%%

1000 usd*
fixed

It's because a large portion of this board are legitimately autistic. They don't understand humour properly. Tech attracts these people (for good and bad). They are the same people that don't understand aesthetic design hence The WindowsXP-tier interfaces and outdated hardware. At least they are very good at programming (but provide terrible documentation). Just my morning rant thank you for reading. Please subscribe faggots.

the reason people keep jerking off over sandy/ivy thinkpads in threads like these is that you get exactly what the OP is asking for: a solid, upgradable laptop for less than $300 (often less than $200), and it's still going to be faster than nearly anything brand new at that price

>still going to be faster than nearly anything brand new at that price

don't know about that

but used vs. new is a real consideration

I'd rather have a new 15inch dell than a used low resolution thinkpad

well the i5-2420m that will be found in most x220 & t420 thinkpads on ebay is a little more than 20% faster than the i3-5005u in that inspiron. my 2540m x220 (+25%) was $125 shipped.

i agree that used vs new is a big deal and there's always better specs out there, but we're talking about sub-$300 laptop options, and it's up to each person to decide what compromises they're willing to make. some of those used laptops are in pretty good shape, as there are sellers that legit refurbish them. i've seen a t420 with a 1600x900 panel for $150. viewing angle's not amazing on a tn and it's not quite full hd, but it beats the 1366x768 of that inspiron. again, compromises

i meant 2520, not 2420

Good luck with that m8

...

by the time you upgrade the ram and add an SSD you will have $500 in it

laptops in that price range are pretty much shit, save up like 2-300 more dollars and you will be in a whole different class of performance

the thinkpad meme needs to die

get a used acer

thinkpad x230, solid, upgradable, works like a charm and you can get a used one on ebay for like less than 200$ and thay are pretty clean.
