overbassed

it is cheap

Bass boost over M40/x models.
M40x give a very nice sound, but I cannot stand how they sit on my ears, rather than over them. So M40's are a nogo for me. would totally recommend to anybody who does not see it as an issue though.

Are these any good? AKG K7xx
Logitchech G35's have been my go to at home for the last 4 years but theyre falling apart. Im not an audiophile but these look comfy.
Not sure if theyre worth $199 or not either but all the cheaper ones seems subpar.

they're shit.
Possibly the only headphones I regret getting (maybe the K240's or whatever they're called, but even that wasn't bad for the price, which mattered back then)

Uncomfortable headphone with shitty v sound
K7XX is a entirely different headphone for completely different purposes
If you're gaming get the k7XX, M50xs are for bus/subway riders

M50s are for nigger cattle and nothing else
I'm not saying that ironically

I wouldn't go that far, but it gets annoying when everybody's first "good" headphone purchase is the M50X and they're touted around as the greatest thing ever.
Side note, at my university HD598CS or whatever the closed backed version is has basically replaced the M50X. See tons of those now, everybody used to have M50xs.

Thanks, I use cheap buds when I'm out and about. Headsets are excessive and bulky imo.
Gaming but mostly studying, pretty much live listening to music.

I would go much much further

if you're not an audiophile and comfort is top priority then nothing beats Bose.

they're so comfortable I forget I'm wearing them and try to walk away from my computer while still attached pretty frequently

I use them every day. I bought them + a dac for 110$. Also, I bought them without consulting /hpg/. Pretty glad I did because most guys here seem to hate them with a passion.

Theyre comfy, and the most expensive headphones I've ever used. This is the first time I've ever used a dac too, so it might just be placebo but they make the best sound I've ever heard come out of a speaker.

For the price, they are a great first pair of headphones for making music (specifically for monitoring).

As for LISTENING to music just to, well, listen... they are too mid-focused, as are most monitoring headphones, which, for monitoring, is a great thing, but for everything else, it just comes off as a "boring" and "safe" sound.

If you want to get into more high-end monitoring, ditch these cans, or if you simply want to listen to music for the "sound stage", look for open back phones instead.

Not they're not they're fuckigfucking g horrible for creating music, the whole frequency response is disgusting and painful, no amount of meme-in fixes them and neither does a returned pair. They're shit. "Tracking" where you just need to hear to get your cues to sing, sure but that's literally on the same shit-tier as live DJ headphones
They are absolutely garbage headphones and are unarguably unsuitable for music production or mixing

I have them. I like them. A bit bassy. Uncomfortable after long listening sessions because they clamp quite tightly at the top. Good sound for the price however. You can do better.

I've been listening to porn through them for the past five years and have been cumming buckets each time.

I'd say they're pretty good.

DT770's are like they're fucking on a stage in front of you in an auditorium

...

Overpriced
Uncomfortable
Slightly bloated bass

If you can get a pair below $120, they're a good buy, provided you know what you're getting into.

Are you saying that while taking their price into account?
Because they're obviously going to be garbage compared to some Audeze LCD3s or other super expensive ones, but how many other headphones are better than the M50Xs/M40Xs for around $100?
Are they really that much better than them?

So they add reverb to the sound?

>not buying different pads

Absolutely, I bought them for full price when I did (they were over $100) and sold them shortly after for $30
100% unhappy
I got DT770s and then DT880s after that, whether you like the ATH shits or not, between that and the DT770's it's a night and day difference, definitely for the better in sound response, volume dynamics and comfort
I said auditorium, not your high schools gym

I've purchased quite a few headphones looking for the best one lately.

The M50X is so overrated its unbelievable. Yes, the drivers are good quality but everything else is shit. There is ZERO soundstage, all the sound will seem to be coming from between your eyeballs. The plastic is cheap and the ears break easily. The cups and headband hurt like hell after listening for 20 minutes for my head.

I ended up going with the ATH-MSR7's for daily listening. Much better quality, wider sound stage, and more comfortable.

I got HD598s too after that, they're fine, nothing amazing but not bad headphones for the $99 Black Friday price (for the real ones, not the last year closed back Black Friday special ones)
Before the ATH-M50 trash I has AKG K240 I think? One of the cheapest they had, no bass at all but fantastic highs and open clarity. They broke but I soldered them then they broke again. $50 whatever
Before that I had $20 sennheisers that I gave to a qt who gave me a hug in return

But those are significantly more expensive than the m50s, no?

What music do you make with them?

>Paying 20$ for a hug
Im very sorry

It was her Jewish snaketongue, I fell for it

If you are not used to them, they do grab a fair bit when new.

When I got mine, I had to take them off after an hour.

They were when I bought them (80 ohm), but now they're significantly cheaper like $150
Still a bit more than the ATH M50's, but from the headphones I've used id say it's worth it
My soundlcoud is years abandoned anyways
I barely even use my headphones when I have stereo monitors on my main PC

Paying $100+ more for memes

>bought them without consulting /hpg/
Red Flag #1, they know headphones pretty well and have good reasons to not like them as I've tried my friend's OG M50's and they're awful. Unless you absolutely need a portable V-shaped headphone for travel and to just listen to music and fold, theyre not worth it.
>Comfy
Red Flag #2, Garbage pads and must be a masochist to enjoy them.
>first time I've used a dac
They're really efficient and sound the same with and without a dac so it's a placebo.

Fantastic for home use. Open backed so isolation is out the window. Pretty bassy with great extention. Memory foam velour pads on them are very comfy. If you're willing to invest into an amp like a Fulla 2 or Magni2, they sound great when they get enough power.

Just replace the pads with MSR7 or DT250 Velours. They're a nice improvement in comfort and sound the same after swapping pads.

Can't find a good price on them, these K7xx are already higher than I wanted to pay.
They will only be for home use. I will buy an amp when I find a good deal. Asus thinks their onboard sound cards are bretty gud.
Comfort is the main thing, my G35 headset gives me bruising behind my ears.

Hopefully they'll be here in a month or so.

Fill the form and I'll see what I can do to help.

Already ordered K7xx of Massdrop earlier today.
Thanks though.

For mixing: yes

I use Bose for noise cancellation. Pricey but if you aren't doing sound mixing and like isolation they sound awesome.

Aight, glad I could help :)

They're not good for mixing, they're V-shaped. If you're constently on a subway or planes a lot, Bose QC35's are neat for active noise cancelation.

I produce music and the best headphones are the Superlux HD681 and they also cost about 30€.
Tell me if this isn't a good frequency response cdn.overclock.net/1/14/1447e6f7_graphCompare.png

The treble is a bit too high but I mix with the Morphit plugin which flattens the frequency response of those headphones.

this mk50x < T50RP MK3

I have the 668b.
Great headphone but the 10khz 15 db spike is a killer.
