libplacebo when?

I just notice this from igv:
github.com/igv/mpv/tree/inputsize
Does anyone know if it is about the current panscan/shaders bug?

...

lol

mpv + spaceFM + spaceTV = god-tier

>spaceFM + spaceTV
What are these?

spaceFM is just a file manager (I only have a window manager not a DE so didn't have a file manager anyways) and spaceTV is just a plugin that makes mpv and spaceFM work nice with each other

soon, really soon, probably in 3 or 4 years

Is it the new haasn's project?
I don't find anything about it on github.
I kinda miss him. :^(

if mpv is so great, why can't I change which audio device I output to? well?
I am waiting.
even VLC can, independently of the OS.

(You) cant because you're an idiot
Others can though
mpv.io/manual/master/#options-audio-device

Here's a little pro tip. Whenever you wanna check and see if mpv can do something, ctrl+f around the manual using keywords and odds are you'll find what you're looking for.

But it's more fun to shitpost about it on Sup Forums.

>femanon
Cum dumpsters

Anyone tried the Android version? Does it support my mpv.conf and input.conf?

>Anyone tried the Android version?
Yes
>Does it support my mpv.conf and input.conf?
Probably not, but there's not point though.
Most phones will stutter on playback with anything higher than bilinear.

I want to play a music playlist from Youtube. Is vo=null any good? Does it still download the video stream but just doesn't display it?

Use regular old youtube-dl idiot.

ytdl-format=bestaudio

Thanks, that does make more sense.

mpv --no-video

this is the default

>but there's not point though.

I meant more like subtitle style and so on. Do you know where to find it compiled as an .apk?

what us the YouTube dl feature and how do I use it?

wats the highest config for mpv

Default is ytdl-format=best

github.com/mpv-android/mpv-android/releases

>greatest media player
>doesn't even have seekbar thumbnails

Someone post an autistic config

Seekbar thumbnail is for shitty network connection

Kill yourself pajeet.

When will we get nightly/daily mpc-qt windows release?
Don't be nice with me if you want. :D

What's best configuration to get best performance for Intel HD 3000 iGPU?
I'm using T420 with Core i5 2520M, and the CPU temps reach 70C, when playing 1080p X264 files.
This is my configuration file

vo=opengl
demuxer-mkv-subtitle-preroll
ass-force-style=Kerning=yes
framedrop=no

hwdec=auto

>hwdec=auto
It switches to SW decoding.

opengl-hq:no-deband
You might get away with debanding but 1080p will drop frames

>having to use command line to do something that simple
call me when there is a button in the UI like for subs or tracks. normies will never use command line, and so, it dooms mpv to being "that weird not-vlc thing"

Tried that one, was great with 720p extremely tasking on the CPU with 1080p.

Linux? Install the vaapi driver

>normies will never use command line, and so, it dooms mpv to being "that weird not-vlc thing"
Everyone already knows this (it's pretty obvious.) Not everyone wants their software to be popular among normies. Some people really do want to write software like mpv, which appeals to command-line users and videophiles only. This actually happens a lot because people who write software are also likely to be heavy command-line users, so they write software for themselves. Being normie-popular only makes you more likely to get bug-reports from idiots.

If mpv ever gets popular, it will be because it provides libmpv, which allows other people to make graphical video players that use mpv as a playback engine. In that case, it will be the author of the graphical frontend who has to deal with all the normie users.

>and videophiles

Yes, manjaro.
>vaapi driver
xf86-video-intel or mesa?
Does it offer significant performance boost?

Mate, if you're not a videophile, what are you even doing with your life? I bet you haven't even generated a colour profile for your monitor.

No, the libva-intel-driver. Since you have an integrated card, the cpu running quite hot is a bit normal.

>libva-intel-driver.
I see, and I'd need to use hwdec=vaapi ,right?
Will this mess up my xorg?

Yes or hwdec=auto. No, it won't mess anything.

Will try and see.

Just to make sure this will work on T420 core i5 2520M with iGPU running linux?
archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libva-intel-driver/

What setting do I need to change to keep the window size/position between playlist items, regardless of their resolution?

Man, you're quite paranoid.
wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vaapi
wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hardware_video_acceleration

why would i bother tweaking my colour to be as realistic as possible when i'm only viewing websites, anime, video games, and fictional tv shows/movies
really, anything that isn't colour-sensitive work doesn't need truly accurate colour

Sorry, but after kernel panic, you'd get paranoid as well.

Kernel panics is not an uncommon occurence on bleeding edge distros. I'd had a few lockups in videos as well on 4.9. Haven't had one in 4.10 but we'll see. Perhaps a point release distro might suit you.

Can I test this in live session?

Test what? You can try using the linux-lts kernel if you want if you're that bothered with kernel panics. Or use a more rock hard distro like Debian stable despite being old.

>femanon
pls b my gf

I'm worried that installing that driver will screw something in my end like modifying xorg, or failing to boot.

No, it's not a kernel module.
pacman -Ql libva-intel-driver
libva-intel-driver /usr/
libva-intel-driver /usr/lib/
libva-intel-driver /usr/lib/dri/
libva-intel-driver /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva-intel-driver /usr/share/
libva-intel-driver /usr/share/licenses/
libva-intel-driver /usr/share/licenses/libva-intel-driver/
libva-intel-driver /usr/share/licenses/libva-intel-driver/COPYING

>HW decoding
The only good thing that comes from that is better battery life.

Hence it should also help with temps, fixed function iGPU uses less power, less heat, more battery life

Still won't help with 10 bit x264.

Is libplacebo planned to be a real thing or not?
The #mpv irc guys and are quite weird, specially the counter pillow one!

>libplacebo
The fuck is that?

The vo_opengl part of mpv as a library with "we hope" vulkan support.

There were some speculations about it recently.
Some people think haasn is working on a top secret project because he is not commiting anymore on github. Other dudes think he is just playing diablo all the time because his last post was about it.
However some fags think this is a distraction because they can't accept that the GREAT haasn is still playing video games.

haasn as a service when?

Playing video games is normal, unless it's a Diablo III...

This is why some people think this is a fucking trap.

Ha! Ha! The great HAASN.

A new opengl backend, damn why?

How do I get vobsubs working with mpv?

You should give ranger a try

VDPAU has the concept of a "presentation queue," which lets you render multiple frames at once, queue them for presentation to the display, then query when they actually got presented to the display. The idea is that queuing frames like this will make vsync timings more stable, which will improve the stability of display-sync and interpolation (on NVIDIA/Linux.) That backend doesn't look particularly useful at the moment though because it's still synchronous.

>"Using this will have no advantage (other than additional bugs or performance problems), and is for doing experiments only."

>The Freetard Software Foundation recommends...
Literally who cares? The only people who bicker about free Git hosting services don't understand Git. Cloning or mirroring a Git repository is effortless, so if GitHub ever actually do something that prohibits mpv development, mpv can just move. The only pragmatic reason to choose a Git host is based on the size of the community of potential contributors, which GitHub wins hands down.

...

>async presentation queue
Wasn't it the big reason to use vulkan?

Yep. The way the VDPAU presentation queue is being used here is pretty similar to a Vulkan FIFO swap chain. If mpv had a Vulkan VO, it would have similar advantages.

how do I make it show logo after playback?

What's the movie ?

Бyмep 2

I'm pretty impressed. How can you shitpost in every single thread?

Someone tested the new SSuperSimRes?

No, I am still using an older one. Did you? What's your opinion?

Didn't nvidia kind of abandon vdpau? No commits or anything since 1.5 years
cgit.freedesktop.org/vdpau/libvdpau/log/

And they seem pretty happy advertising NVIDIA Video Codec SDK support in ffmpeg
developer.nvidia.com/ffmpeg

It is great.

>diff.pics/HBZ6ZcueDaHP/1
Saved it from last thread.

>play movie
>can't because mpv doesn't support H265
>play a bluray movie
>can't because mpv can't play BDMV
>can't fullscreen without crashing
>can't minimize mpv as it crashes the program
why is it so great again?

works on my machine

don't use a fucking 3 year old executable

>the poster then realised that it can do all those things
your idiocy is terminal, I'm sorry

Did I hit a vulnerable spot?

>mpv
>creator is a pajeet
tell me again why I should use this shit?

I'm using the newest SSimSuperRes, adaptive-sharpen, and KrigBilateral.
mpv is complaining about too many hooks, is there someway around this or do I have to get rid of a shader.

get rid of adaptive-sharpen

Since when Germans are pajeets?

Mpv sucks ass, why do you want to pain yourself by spending your life in a config file? Install MPC-HC.

but it just works, like MPC did

Call me when you have alternative to NGU.

Can mpv play 8k files yet? I won't even bother using it until then. MPC can.
