Is there any alternative to Android and IOS?

Is there any alternative to Android and IOS?

uhm..
..
....
.Windows Phone??? (ugh)

Symbian

Telegrams, morse code, landline, pay phone, shortwave, ham radio, postal mail

beside those

any that have come up are dead at this point. use iOS and/or hope something new comes along eventually.

What about Jolla?

Yes

>Sailfish OS
>Firefox OS
>Ubuntu Touch
>Plasma Mobile

I've tried all except the last one.

Sailfish OS has no native apps and uses a proprietary Android compatibility layer only available on official Jolla devices. This means you're stuck with old hardware that's now extremely overpriced or you can install it on a Nexus (like I did) and have zero apps. Seriously, there are less than 100 apps in the official store. I still liked Sailfish the best.

Firefox OS was such a steaming pile of shit to navigate that I said fuck it and reinstalled Android. Not even worth your time.

Ubuntu Touch also had a dogshit interface and no apps. It also lagged like crazy and ate all the RAM, giving me a popup saying I was out of memory.

Just install Lineage OS with no Google apps. Nexus 5 has good modem isolation and doesn't have CarrierIQ software. It should be pretty safe. Other phones like the international Galaxy S2 and S3 are the same.

But is Lineage compatible with Android apps?

Lineage OS is Android, so yes.

So it's like Chominuim,

What?

Something based on Google with less Google

Sort of. This is an entire OS though and it works really well.

Assuming for more privacy? Phones in general won't get you full privacy like laptops or desktops. They're literal tracking devices. You could use Replicant but it's only supported on a few old devices and it's very stagnant.

Dead platform to begin with.

Nokia could've had the world with Symbian. Too bad they ended up being idiots in responding to iOS and Android. Now they only control some African nation in terms of popularity.

It's dead and apparently the phone wasn't too good.

>Firefox OS
Literally dead, it started as a mobile OS and then everyone realized there's no taking on Android, because Firefox tried to get into the budget market. Turns out, Android already is very good at penetrating the budget market. They tried moving to Smart TVs but then they realized there was an even smaller market for that. Mozilla killed it.

>Ubuntu Touch
I think Canonical realized it was a dead cause. They released some Chinese phone but I don't think it took off.

>Plasma Mobile
Has this made any progress since it's announcement?

>>Plasma Mobile
>Has this made any progress since it's announcement?
I think you already know the answer to that...

But Google won't be able too get any information this way right?

No. Not unless you install Google apps or access Google services from it.

What about Blackberry?

Dead and proprietary.

Grab Nokia N900.

They sold whatever was left of their mobile business to Chinese manufacturers.

Create your own OS?

Not having a smartphone.
