A friend of mine wants to trade his Thinkpad x240 for my old i5 4690k processor and my old z97 g43 - gaming motherboard.

I dont use that hardware anymore so its pretty much just laying around. Do you think it would be a good trade for me?

Will a t601f with Intel GMA x1300 handle 1080p30 video without stuttering?

Look on ebay etc for second hand models; Use that to get an idea of the value. Also, go over every inch of that thing to see if it has been dropped, damaged or if the internals have been cleaned recently.

Well from what I can gather from ebay postings (buy it now, not auctions) they go for around 280 up to 300 usd)

The 4690k is worth like 140 to 145 usd, the motherboard is prolly worth around 65 usd tops, which puts us at like 210 or something etc.

I mean I dont have any use of my old PC components, and I kinda want a playaround laptop that I can run linux on and use as a general media/work machine etc.

Only real issue with the x240 (same problem as the t440) is the terrible touchpad/mouse buttons. It's just really bad, when you see/use it you will see why.

I think so, and on the remote chance it does not, look for the Broadcom Crystal HD BCM70015 (*not* BCM70012) card which you should get anyway because it would save you battery.

It also works on Linux. Check the Wikipedia page to instructions on how to disable downscaling to 1280x720 on Windows:

How do i find if a motherboard has this card? All the FRU p/n numbers only point to 3 GFX cards: the 140m, 570m, and x1300.

Windows 7. I love Windows 8.1 for little devices but this laptop seems to have been manufactured just so you put Windows 7 on it.

Just a quick question:
On my X230 Linux will save whether or not I put the internal speakers on mute. For example, I put the speakers on mute, then plug in headphones and crank the volume up. When I unplug the headphones it goes back to mute. On Windows this doesn't work. Once I put the laptop on sleep with porn still playing which lead to a very embarassing situation the next day. Why is Windows so retarded? How can I fix this?

Still these prices are insane, even for Europe. Foro example, I paid 220€ for my X230 and that one was formerly used by a company and it had been professionally refurbished with a new keyboard and battery. It had only 4GB RAM though, but still. 325€ is almost criminal.

A trackpad has the POSIBILITY of 20 functions, most of which are never used by the majority of users. In the one function that both devices are used in the majority of cases , moving the mouse, the trackpad is much simple because it maps one-on-one with the screen. This trackpad represents the screen, finger on trackpad represents mouse, move finger to move mouse, its simple enough for a nigger to understand. While with a trackpad its much more difficult to understand, the trackpoint in the origin where your mouse is, your rotate and tilt the axis of the point to move to mouse. Do you think a nigger can comprehend origins and axes?

Your deal looks good except the ssd is a bit too small (160gb) which is fine depending on what your going to be doing, and windows 10 which is most abominable software i've ever laid my eyes on. So I just got an x230 for 200 euros, just wanted to share. I wanted to buy x220 but there wasn't any at my local store, so I went with x230, and as much as people scared me with the keyboard, it's really not bad, better than most consumer laptop keyboards out there anyway.
