I tried to get to the bottom of locales.
Xfce4-panel refuses to load a language, except when you only set it globally via /etc/locale.conf (on Arch, I don't know where other distributions source it from).
Using per user settings in ~/.config/locale.conf doesn't work. I also did some testing to figure out how it gets overwritten and my brain is mumbled now, because it seems to be an Arch specific thing and almost a hack.
Fuck this, I'm going back to lxpanel.

Hi, is there any way to downgrade Wincuck 10 to Windows 7 without it messing up the bootloader and cucking me out of Ubuntu?
Win10 and Ubuntu are on and SSD, and there is a separate storage drive. I spent quite some time ricing Ubuntu and it would be a shame if I had to lose everything there

A messed up bootloader is easily fixed by boot-repair-drive iso (look it up).
You can always reinstall ubuntu and check the "keep the /home partition intact", all your rice will be there.

7, 8, 8.1 are all "service packs" for vista marketed as a different OS becuse money. driver compatibility proves it, I had no problem installing vista drivers on an older machine on win8.1
Win 10 is a different story.

Just install windows without touching your ubuntu partitions.
After you installed windows: -download the SuperGrub2 disk .iso -install EasyBCD In EasyBCD: -disable metro boot menu -set boot menu from skip to count down -add a new iso entry, point it on the supergrub2 iso -reboot, start the iso image
The just use supergrub2 to boot up ubuntu, and from within your can reinstall grub and add windows to your boot menu.

Care to share some experiences using anything other than debian?
I went to deb7 after ubuntu had felt too much like a mac. Before that i only had used win ME through win 7. It was a bit of a learning curve but the system seemed to be robust enough to not let me break it.
Then i went back to win 7 and now that i know slightly more, i want to change back to a gnu/linux based os.
I basically just do web browsing, a little scripting and some rtl-sdr

Hi /fglt/, I don't know if it's the same in vanilla Firefox, but I'm using Firefox Nightly, and there's some little change that's gonna slash me hips: I use VimFx, so instead of doing Ctrl+F, I simply press the / key to search. Thing is, when I search for something, I can go to the next/previous occurrence of the matching word with n or N respectively. I used to be able to press n as many times as I wanted to cycle through results, but now, Mozilla has decided to fuck this up by focusing the search bar every time I press n or N, making me have to un-focus by either pressing return or Esc. Can I do something to stop this? Why the fuck does Mozilla think its Oak nuggins to do this shit?
