It wasn't made by AMD.
Literally nothing it served it's purpose and at that time, competition was at a standstill
ATI acquired ArtX, a company full of former SGI engineers. They designed this GPU.
>9700
This takes me back
I had a Radeon 9600. Best video card ever.
It came bundled with Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. Shitty game but I had a lot of fun with it.
But then I got Doom 3 and Half Life 2 and it was fucking awesome.
wtf fuck is with that demonic box wtf?
Because of what went so wrong.
The entire shortcoming of the FX5000 line was trying to implement some variant of DirectX9 that no one used in the end. nVidia wanted to rush shit out and failed in the end.
And Far Cry, I fogot how much fun the first Far Cry was
The 9600 I had (it was an ATI Saphire 9600) had Ruby on the box, it was a nice box
I always wanted to fuck Ruby in her qt mouth.
My shit still works!
Post your GPU history

I miss my Xpert@Work :^(
lol I don't even remember that far back. I went like something NVidia -> 8600 gt -> hd 4890 -> r9 380
>S3 Trio
>Riva TNT2 Ultra
>GeForce FX 5200
>Intel GM965
>GeForce GTX 260

We're counting mobile?
Then:

GTX970 was my first GPU,
Please don't hurt me
You're going to get slapped at the very least.
Holy fuck! Is that your main or just a PC you laying around?
>some Nvidia card
>some ATI card
>GTX 7300
>GTX 8600
>HD 4870
After 5 rebrands of cards will AMD bring a line that will push Nvidia off of its high horse?
Kill yourself
radeon bros where we at
You have to be 18+ to post on this site
Radeon is only good for mining crypto currency without spending a fortune on graphics cards.
It's my main that was just laying around.
And geforce is only good if you want to be a manchild?
Take it from someone who had both for 17 years.
They're both fine.
>Rage 64
>Radeon Sapphire 9800pro

>Radeon Sapphire Vapor-X 4890 that was a fucking amazing overclocker
>Radeon Sapphire 6870 that I loved to death and ended up giving to a friend so he could play vidya with us
Now I'm on a XFX 390 and pretty happy
Shit I even had a Sapphire motherboard that was solid white with neon red accents for my pentium 4 back in ye olden days
I have to say that the 9600 was a monster for its price. I fell in love to her, bought myself a X1300 later cause it had basicaly the same performance with double ram.
I ran F.E.A.R. on low 640x480 and it was hella satisfying
Geforce 8600M GT: half a pile of shit

Geforce 765M GTX: was nice in laptop
Geforce 860M GTX: also nice
Sounds alot like what AMD is doing now

Sad!

Everything.
I should dig up my Slot-A machine, give it gigabit ethernet, an SSD and a new Gentoo.
ASUS GeForce 8500 GT was my first
Are the figurines happy?
My 96*0 or something at that time had dual DVI, and no VGA, I was scratching my head wondering how am I gonna plug it in my CRT, which I think was Toshiba at that time.
Who remember that 9500 could be unlocked into 9700?

DX12 is more popular with the big publishers than Vulkan. If you're talking about slow adoption, that happens with every version, people forget how slow DX11 took off because of XPfags.
...
Of course.
Oh man, I've forgotten how fucking cringe-worthy graphics card boxes used to be.

Voodoo 3 3000
ATI 9700tx(some dell specific version. I think it was downclocked version of the regular 9700)
ATI 9500pro
ATI 9800pro (all those last 3 in the span of 9 months. lotta defective units i guess)
AMD 4850 1gb
And thats where i am still today. Hate the card(pretty sure its defective. So many crash-to-desktop issues with games, including fucked up textures), but dont game much on the PC anymore... Plus the rest of the machine is shit(E8400, 4gb of DDR2 ram) so theres no point in upgrading unless i can find a 7950 for cheap.
some 64mb shit I used to play command & conquer
some 128mb shit I used to play command & conquer

Gonna see if I can squeeze a little bit more life out of the 290x till Vega drops and if it disappoints I'll jump ship to a 1080 or the equivalent.
iirc the nvidia 6800 series had those, got mine without a box though

Geforce 7600GT
Geforce 9300
Radeon 7000 on some spare system
Some Sapphire Radeon 9600
Radeon R7 @ A10-7850K
I'm seeing a lot more ATI cards over the years than Nvidia ones here.
Geforce 4 mx4000 (slow PCI piece of shit)
Geforce FX5700
Geforce 8600GT
ATI/AMD 4850
AMD 5850
AMD 7950
AMD R9 380 (to replace broken 7950, more or less same performance)
Back in the day ATI put out some good cards at a pretty fair price point. I remember equivelent cards for nVidia usually being a bit more expensive. Kind of like how AMD used to put out quality chips that could be a couple hundred dollars cheaper than their Intel counterparts. I miss those days. There used to be a lot more competition in the PC market.
Is this a lego box?

To this day nothing has equaled the screen and image quality of a Matrox Millenium :(
right one has damaged caps. left one still works perfectly. its a nvidia 5600fx. used it 3 years ago and earlier while saving for a good pc i currently use.
I have an AMD ATI Radeon 4670 HD to this day.

Hoping Vega is at least a decent bump for me.
I was a massive Half-Life 2 fan at the time and owned FX 5200, it was painful after playing the game on my friend's 9700.

I skipped this entire line of GPUs.
Had a Geforce 3 ti400. Waited to drop $400 on the 6800gt when it first came out. Was amazed at how well it handled Doom3 and Half Life 2.
After that, I was with ATI/AMD since.
God damn, this bitch still gets me going, lol.
Throw it in the trash immediately.

i really loved the 480 but i was able to pick up a dell 1440p gsync monitor back during black friday for the price of a 1080p freesync. i already wanted something with more power than the 480 so i picked up a 1080 and the dell. it sucks both sides don't support each other *syncs. really forces you into an ecosystem. i can understand amd, and i sympathize with them, but ultimately they don't support gsync like nvidia doesn't support freesync.
