Networks--question

So is the only way to get a strong signal with a new router? Faster connection? Or more in house signal boosters?

I'm hoping this isn't against board rules, if so please delete and my apologies, I just thought this might make a Networking/Questions thread

My network name (my mom's house) is the gator60 one in the red parabola

Change it to channel 14, senpaitachi.

one weird trick for a stronger signal is plugging in a cat5 cable, easy 1-10 gbps

use 5ghz

i've never seen so many networks in one spot before

Do not do this

Do this or use channels 1,6, or 12 on 2.5 ghz

>cat5
>1-10gbps

>mfw running fake APs on channels 4, 8 and 10

Enjoy ur shit connection, wavecucks

...

>So is the only way to get a strong signal with a new router? Faster connection? Or more in house signal boosters?

This question makes no sense.

>not knowing how routers operate
>sucking at shitposting this bad
Do you belong here? Try

Is for you btw famalam

Not an argument

thx senpai, just did this and now my internet is twice as fast.
preety cool trick desu, have a rare meme i found on the tele

I upgraded to powerline adapters, and left the wireless connection for smartphones only.

10000 Base-T exists. 10G. Although the latency on it is horrible, and the cat6 cable has to be really, really, good to work with it.

Not worth it compared SFP+ and fiber, or even SFP+ and coax (great for short runs!)

Didn't you mean 1,6 and 11?

Stop buying gamer-style shit, it will never work well.
Look into ubnt.com/products/ they have some decent options that are way beyond most home devices will not breaking the bank.

yes

You buy a high power wifi jammer to piss off your neighbors to the point that they move off of your god given frequency spectrum.

>the ass hats that use channels 3 and 9
Where the fuck do you live with this many APs?

Apartment building probably

Holy shit their 802.11ac Wave 2 AP is finally out... and also expensive as fuck.

Why not? Other than device incompatibility, the use of 5GHZ greatly improved my wireless speeds, even on my thrift store router.

The best way to win the WiFi race is either for everyone to slow down, or to not enter the race at all.

Thinking of buying this wifi jammer to piss off neighbors and convince them to go with ethernet. Allowing me to freeing use the spectrum. /s

Try living in a condo.

Get on 5GHz. You'll get less range, but it's typically less crowded.

Change your channel to 6.

Using channel 14 is illegal in the US. And believe it or not, if you do it, you will eventually get a knock on your door telling you to stop.

If you use 5ghz then use 5ghz. If your device is compatible use AC only.

The most likely thing that will happen is that a few of them will have little understanding of why it doesn't work and will call professionals in who will detect a jammer and call the FCC on you.

oh god.. totally would

This

Please don't listen to this lol

You could get EM insulation for your house. Cuts out your neighbors' crap and as a bonus stops people from leeching off your wifi.

I've seen worse.
Though I'm the only faggot in the area with a dual band ac router, so not that bad.

jesus

>In house signal boosters.
Did you fall for a meme?

Like, 'repeaters' or 'boosters' are always the shitty option.

Actually install a few access points in your house and wire them back to your router. Quit being a pleb.

Also looks like channel 6 is an option for you...

you poor sad ausfag

What's wrong with using channels 3 and 9?

>piss off neighbors and convince them to go with ethernet

Are you autistic? You think that's what they'll think? As the other guy said, they'll be clueless and call in a pro who'll slap your shit. You're a dumbfuck too, assuming they all use desktops and don't have smartphones that connect to their wifi.

You need kill anyone that isn't using channel 1, 6, or 11.

Try living down town

I too would like to live in a Faraday cage.

No one near me runs 5Ghz, feels gud.
Now if only the signal attenuation wasn't garbage. I have a feeling it's due to the structure and building materials of my home, since the router is on the main floor and pic related is from the upper floor on the far Northeast corner.

In out network, often just ipv6 adresses working properly. Like Googlesearch... often it just works for macfags, sometimes not. Whats going on here?

Change your canals should help with interferences. Otherwise get Repeaters to boost your signal.

look at this moron

>Hes using wifi, literally turning his house into a radiated microwave

Feels good to live in a house

/s = sarcasm

>who will detect a jammer and call the FCC on you.
Doubt this as you are giving IT Professionals too much credit.

>she doesn't understand radiation

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Redditisms. Thanks for letting me know.

np faggot

>he doesn't understand how non-ionizing radiation works so he baits other people into explaining it to him instead
Not going to bother, so here's your (You), don't spend it all in on place.

did you just assume my gender?

So I just did this. What's the problem?

Channel 14 can only do 802.11b and many devices have trouble connecting to it.
