Is freeNAS safe behind a router by default? I only want it avaialble to the local network and NOT accessible to the internet. No ports have been forwarded (at least not manually), but it IS directly connected to one of the ethernet ports on the back of the router along with my PC. Is this safe?

$800 gaming pc or pspro? (not trolling i legitimately want to know)

At that price, definitely the PC. There are multiple reasons why.

Firstly, you can obviously use a PC for a lot more than you can do with a ps4.
Second, you can pirate almost any single player game you want for free, and emulate almost any console and get those games for free as well. Essentially, you really only need to pay for multiplayer shit.

Literally the only reason I could see anyone picking a ps4 over a pc at that budget is if they only want to play games in split screen (which many pc games have either officially or modded in).

Installing Gentoo hardened with Grsecurity and PaX right now. What do?

Is ChipGenius harmful, or is this a false positive? Is it like how anti-virus software cry about demoscene productions because some use compression techniques similar to viruses? When I checked rbt, nobody seemed to have any problems with it. (Last post was 28 July 2016 though.)
USBDeview + flashboot is fine, but CG provides chip vendors and part numbers, flash ID codes, and links to chinese programs as well. Any alternatives?

Does cold-brewed coffee need to be refrigerated?

I had a pitcher of some that got half-frozen in the back of my fridge so was thinking of leaving it on my counter for a while to let it thaw out but will it get bacteria or something?

If there is a collision between two pedestrians but there are no injuries do you still have to report it to the police?

No

from what source?

Yes

The CIA of course.

if properly protected with solid credentials and, and I don't remember exactly what it's called but that thing that autobans connections from anywhere that's failed to enter the right credentials. it should be fine no matter what, that being said, I'm pretty sure it's not globally accessible by default

best free drive imager? is there any that lets me use the drive after starting the process?

if you get an hdd dock, some of the fancier ones have a clone option that I think would allow you to use the drive while it's being cloned, but I"m not completely sure and it's not free like you wanted. for free check out clonezilla

I'm planning on getting an external hard drive to store manga on, any particular brand recommendations? It probably doesn't need to be more than 2TB.

just from personal experience I"d suggest a nas, I've had far too many externals die inside of six months unless they were always stationary regardless of their power state

thanks looks like clonezille is the way to go, would dock but this is for a bunch of external hdds over usb

ive always been happy with Western Digital, but seagate is fine too, its more off just unlucky lottery.
buy it all separately though, i had a WD My Book, and found out it encrypts onto the drive so recovery was annoying if anything happened and then you can choose the case you put the drive into

NAS is pretty large for just manga

How do I exclude search results from sites like amazon on google?

Is it normal for my HDD to reach 54C?

if you mean permanently exclude results, I don't know if there's a way to do that.
Otherwise, if you just mean to exclude specific results you can type a hyphen and then add the excluded terms after that.

For example, if you wanted to search for peanut butter and exclude any result that also mentions jelly, you would search for "peanut butter -jelly"

yes, hdd's aren't like cpus, a little heat is actually good for them

looking for a specific keyboard.

>rgb leds
>flat keys
>"full sized" enter key
>numblock
>no handspace shit

does any keyboard exist with these rules? I wasn't able to find ONE that dioesn't violate at least one of them.

>numblock
neck yourself

i don't intend on using 1-0 keys for typing in consequent sequences of numbers.

>numb

numlock is the key to either lock in the functionality or not.

nice shop faggot

either way, i want my question answered instead of getting grammar nazi'd. Now shoo.

it was a spelling error, not a grammar error.

i don't see a problem

kys my man

oh noez!!1

i want an ips panel because the colors on my tn panel are dogshit

however i dont want to spend a lot of money on a 1440p/2160p monitor in the result that it would make shit that is forcibly rendered at 900p/1080p (console games) look worse than they already do

couldnt I just get a 1080p panel and downsample it to 1440p and achieve the same sort of effect?

how to dedicate part of my hard drive space for ram? need more to run games properly thanks

native resolution is always best

if its not native resolution results are unpredictable

>thinks of using a HDD as RAM
>doesnt realise how chink it is

I'm trying to get an adderall prescription to aid me with my school. I'm not diagnosed adhd. anyone been in a similar position to me and managed to score? gimme tips. seeking a doctor tomorrow.

It' called "swapping" or "paging".
This is not something you want to happen: it will ruin performance.
If you're running into a situation where you run out of RAM, get more.

save up for 2560x1440 or get multiple 1920x1080 monitors? I currently have a 1920x1080 monitor

How do I burn a copy protected DVD?

I used Handbrake for the first movie in this DVD collection but the other 2 are copy protected and it says it will take minus -1:00:01 hour to complete and doesn't seem to be doing any progress even after 30 minutes.

My Rx 480 idles pretty consistently in the low 40's. Is this normal? I'm used to my Gtx 960 being barely above room temperature unless it was actively working on something. It had the same idle = no fans until it hits a temp threshold thing.
If you have to "save up" for the monitor, the visual improvement over 1080p won't make you happy enough to justify spending the money.

Yes.

What difference would be on a LED lamp that uses 1.5v if i used 1.2v rechargeable batteries?

you don't need it.

alright, but why do I have to spend $400+ just to have DisplayPort?

I'm too lazy and dumb without it.

Correct me if I´m wrong, but upcoming cpu´s like coffeelake wil use the same socket (1151) but diferent chipset (300 series)
As for Cannonlake it will be a new socket?

Try Multivitamins.

Adderall has too many downsides.

And if you hate nightmares, avoid it at all costs.

What's wrong with good old hdmi or dvi? My guess is that the putting DP on anything below 120hz at that resolution or below is kind of a waste.

>DVI
Nothing.
>HDMI
DRM and other limitations that wont affect a mid end card.

is it worth getting the iPhone SE in 2017?

I'm poorfag with metropcs and I don't want to pay over 700 dollars for the 7. the SE is about 300 and the 5s is 150.

I had a Mac for the last few years (parents bought it for me as a high school graduation gift) im 23 and work now and just bought a pc of my own. 7th gen i5 windows 10 decent machine. Despite having no issues using the thing I basically know fuck all about basic quality of life programs to use. What browser do you all prefer? Any miscellaneous advice?

can someone redpill me on how ohms and wattage ratings work in audio? my amp just died and I need to get a new one that won't be quiet as fuck/way too loud or otherwise wrong

old one was 100w/6Ω a channel, according to the specs, driving ones rated for 100W DIN (???) at 8 ohms

Why not, still there is paint.net too.

it has been completely obsoleted by LAV

>why not gimp
awful UI
krita is better for something advanced, pdn is better for something simple
gimp is just bad

it might be half decent if 2.9 or 3.0 or whatever they call it ever actually comes out

How many people can touch their shoulder with their bicep from the opposite arm?

wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/List_of_recommended_Windows_software#File_compression_utilities

how the fuck does SNORT work. I've been trying all sorts of combinations of wire shark and rule layout and can't get it to do what I need for homework.
Why is every open source project a fucking nightmare of sketchy forums, sketchy mail archives, billion word help pages

I JUST NEED 3 RULES
is there a non fucked up guide anywhere

How do I align this?
I try to in notepad++ but it crashes. I'm not sure what to do.

Hey, so I have a relatively stupid question.
Here's my current setup

- AMD FX 8350 with 212 evo cooler
- MSI 970 Gaming
- EVGA Supernova G2 650W PSU
- Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290
- 2x 8GB Memory
- SSD for OS
- SSD for Steam games
- HDD for everything else
- Corsair 500r case

I plan on upgrading my GPU and my CPU. GPU is dead easy but what about CPU while still keeping my other data and shit? Would all I need is the CPU, matching motherboard, matching RAM sticks and just reformat the OS SSD?

Is that all tab separated? If so, could open it in any spreadsheet program. Or if you want to convert it to plain text with spaces, use expand linux.die.net/man/1/expand

Sup Forums
Can the gov really listen in on my mic when I'm not talking to any one on it? If so, wouldn't I notice at some point my battery getting lower from it or would there be a process to cover it up as a local android process?
also the same then with cameras. Any and all. Now I know if it has no power (same with the mic) it can't see anything. My camera would turn on it's LED if it's turned on like the Mac cameras. But, what about things like the 3DS and the Wii U?

check torrent sites if they have it. Or all else fails literally pop the DVD into your drive and grab all the files off the disc. I've done this before. It works in most players. VLC, WMP, that one Sup Forums goes on about

What OS are you running? If it's Win 8/10, odds are things will just werk when you swap motherboard, just reactivate if required.

To get any big upgrade you will need to do CPU + mobo + RAM all at once.

I'm on Win10 but I figured you'd have to at least reformat it if you're switching motherboards.

It's not really necessary now, just swapping is usually okay.

Currently deciding betweem the Corsair 200R, the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M and the Fractal Design Define S. Which one should I get for my PC?

looking for a simple, open source image viewer for windows. Irfanview has too many options. Looking for something similar to windows image viewer.

>Is that all tab separated?
It seems like it, yeah. I Just tried to open in with openoffice calc and it was pretty fucked up
I'll have to mess with it more. RIP.

What are some good embedded languages? I commonly hear Lua and , but was wondering if there were any more options?

Any recommendations for adds in chromemium and scripts for tampermonkey?

alert tcp any any -> any any (msg:"04"; content: "PASS"; sid:1000004;)

why the fuck will this not alert me when a password is used, any password is used
I can see it in fucking wireshark, I've tried alert on the hex of PASS, idk anymore and I'm going mad

Normally will a site and its other webpages have the same ip or does it have a different one for each page?

What's a good current email service for things I don't want associated with another main account?

Like a semi-permanent burner.

I only have one hdmi port, but three DisplayPorts and I'd rather not deal with adaptors

Any ways to get fake .edu emails that work on university student discounts like Office 360 or Spotify?

How the fuck do I add calendars to Etar? I tried syncing, uninstalling and reinstalling it, but all the calendars I have access to for my new job aren't showing up no matter what I do

How can I trace a route on a map on Android, from a list of street names (which should be in the route)?

I'm kind of lost here since I've never done anything with maps before (or any serious Android development), I'm not even quite sure what to search for. I'm not looking for spoonfeeding, literally just giving me a link to the right API to use / relevant documentation for this would help immensely.

when do the big electronics sales occur?
im hesitant to buy anything bc i dont when something better will come out and make any set up either cheaper for me to buy or not as legit as i could get for slightly more mulla

How to use ffmpeg to shave the first 20 seconds off of a mp3?

Biggest sales are black friday and cyber monday. Depending on what you want sometimes good deals pop up on Amazon throughout the year but you can't count on those reliably.
If you're so frugal you can wait eight months to save 10%-25% assuming what you want goes on sale AND you can secure one for yourself, then go for it

If this is for a school project you're better off paying some pajeet on Reddit to do it. If you ask nicely they at least try to comment the code a bit so you can kinda understand how they did it

Theres a discover card that will refund you if you buy something and it goes on sale within months after. Might want to look into that.

Are braided audio cables waterproof? Or can water potentially slip through the little braids and cause damage?

then it might be time to build some credit
okay thanks. i just dont want to fuck around with new peripherals and stuff when a new monitor or something drops and drives the price of my stuff down by a few hundred bucks, i suppose i can wait until i at least dont have to pay full price, bc youre right as with lots of big sales the advertisement isnt a guarantee of stock

Why are you getting your cables wet?
Also, yes, I think a sufficiently well-made cable would be waterproof, considering the plastic shielding around the whole cable (it's still there on braided cables).
The only place that would be iffy are the connectors at ends, but they would probably be fine.

ffmpeg -ss 0:20 -i filename -t 2:45 -acodec copy newfilename

Twice recently with random spills (once my nephew dumped an entire tall glass of iced coffee over my desk and second time was my fault spilling a bottle of water when I turned around) both times the cable got a bit doused though thankfully nothing important did.

minus the -t, I don't know why I put that there

Is it dangerous to brush my teeth while I'm taking a shit?

I'll start from the beginning here, hopefully I will explain everything well enough that someone can understand.

Got a new laptop, Lenovo Yoga 710. Had very poor WiFi speeds on my network, all my other devices work fine. Sent it to Lenovo to get the wireless card fixed. Got it back and it was having the same issue. Complain again because all my other devices are working on my network, so it has to be the computer. Eventually they swap my laptop for a newer unit. Still not working on my WiFi. I call Verizon and tell them to send their hottest network tech. He uses his equipment and says there's nothing wrong with my internet or Verizon's equipment (router). I know take my computer over to a buddy's house who also has Verizon FiOS, doesn't fucking work. Take it over to another person's house who has Verizon FiOS, it works fine... Then I take it over to my other friend's house who has Comcast, works perfectly fine.

Now have no clue what the issue is, everything works fine on my home connection except for laptop, which is dropping 75% packets.

all of them are nice. Choose the one you like the most / fit your needs

SE is still a bit overpriced, I think.

The question is, do you really, really want an iPhone?
