Tech stupidity

A UK man accidentally killed himself whilst charging his iPhone while it was laid on his chest while he was in the bath.

Post any other tech stupidity.

You could narrow it down to just:

iPhone

Also, this implies that at some point said person bought an iPhone. Since he's not a girl he's either tech illiterate, old or poor.

>iPhone user
yea, about that...

Is he using a counterfeit charger? Usually that is the cause of an iPhone having reference to mains.

How did he die? Don't USB chargers only deliver 1 or 2 watts?

Try not to rationalize the stupidity of the iToddler.

Honestly, that takes skill to die from low voltage DC like that...

>fat, poor, shut-in nigger kid just wants to escape into the virtual world
>libtard journalist makes an ass out of him

feelsbadman.png

Media doesn't just discover this shit on their own, m8. The parents literally called the press because they thought their kid was a genius for essentially playing legos.

desu if he saved/built it on his own at 11 he might have potential if he keeps learning shit
I mean he is already above average skill

at least 5watts (5V at 1A)
some deliver up to 4A I think

>above average skill

By what standards? Millions of people were doing way more than that at 11.

At 11 I accidentally printed the whole encarta. Printer stopped when it ran out of paper and resumed after I filled it back in. Was afraid of printing for months.

>By what standards?

By western standards obviously, that's why the normie UK press is surprised.

However hes below the average chink factory slave.

Not watts that kills you idiot, it is the amperage and you only need like. 5 milliamperes to kill an adult human

Also path the current takes through your body to the ground is vitally important, if it passes through your heart you are basically fucked

What about passing through my cock?

>Since he's not a girl he's either tech illiterate, old or poor.

Everyone has iPhones, everyone. It's not 2008. Leave your house for once, autist.

Probably fuck your nerve endings up and still possibly kill you from shock (not the electrical kind, thr medical)

A 10A 12V can't kill you because your resistance is too high. You need sufficient voltage to allow the lethal current to pass through too. The secondary side of the Charger is likely not isolated properly resulting in the iPhone being referenced to 240V due to failure of components, or the power strip is too near the water source and is the true cause of the electrocution.

>sand person bought an iPhone
That's racist dude. But maybe we should really be teaching immigrants not to use electronics around water. Sad reality.

physics.ohio-state.edu/~p616/safety/fatal_current.html

Read a bit m8

Amperage is what kills along with the path the current takes

It is often why people can survive lightning strikes

user, are you fucking retarded?

its more like 15 milli amps that can kill you but whatever

You are absolutely fucking retarded. Was that the first result from Google?

Dear Pot, you do need the current, but 5V DC cannot deliver the necessary current. A 1A 5V Power supply means it ALWAYS deliver 5V, and a MAXIMUM of 1A during normal operation. The Current draw is dependant on factors like resistance--your resistance is too high even when wet for 5V to do anything to you. You don't even feel tingling.

Only in burgerland, not in EU. And we all know that burgers are tech illiterate brainlets, so it makes perfect sense.

cnet.com/news/man-dies-after-charging-iphone-in-bath-electrocution/

Compared to your mamby, pamby US juice, UK juice is double the strength.

Saying that, we use 240v because we're British and so it is automatically assumed that Common Sense 2017 is already installed to know that you don't put electrical items such as a hairdryer, toaster, etc in the bath with you.

The bloke was probably a ticcy tac from foreign lands in which case I'm more amazed he was bathing.

>Richard Bull
Sounds like white man name to me.

>Not using 50V/50V center tap

The how did the guy die, genius? 1A is way over the limit to kill you, which the charger delivers.

>the part between the phone charger and the cable had made contact with the water.
Sounds like the high voltage part hit the water then, that clears that up.

>They should attach warnings.
How about no. Put an end to the "warning: contents hot" culture and instead overall educate people that water and electricity don't mix.

>I live in the US and they say it can't happen, and that there is not enough electricity
>not enough electricity
My IQ lowered a few points just reading that...

>implying you can be electrocuted to death with an AA battery

There has been a lot of reports of people dying after licking 9V batteries and they produce less current than a AA battery.

I don't fucking get Americans. One part can be an affluent, normal western country, the other can be a fucking swamp where people still use dial up and have infrastructure from the 50s.

I'm guessing that faggot lives somewhere where an iPhone is a 'status symbol', where everywhere else its just normal. There is no smartphone that's a status symbol anymore. People on this board don't know shit about what's actually going on in the world.

TOP KEK, the current does not even pass through the heart. Also that is proven myth, look it up.

>t. iPhone user

[citation needed]

Burger here, can confirm. This country is weird as shit.

RIP Cory

Nothing happens. This is primary school level knowledge.

That...news article.

I'm mad.

(you) now fuck off dumb nigga

FAKE NEWS

The key thing is also that he had the EXTENSION cord in the bath. The 240v part.

That's why he died.

Fake news

This is why IP66 Sockets exists

USB chargers are usually rated 5V 2A

So I assume the cable can draw as much current as possible when put into water?

2A is miles above the limit needed to kill a person.

>tfw naval electronics tech

you see a lot of dumb shit.

Or the charger could have been a bad quality one and an inner short circuit could have leaked some line voltage.
Either that or keeping grounds not isolated as you should do every time you convert AC to DC.

>Want to have a romantic night with loli sexamo 3.0
>Light some candles and get into the bath
>Oh shit she's low on power
>Plug her in
>Die just for wanting to love
Why is the tech industry so bigoted towards individual's sexuality?

I thought EU had regulations on mains outlets that stopped this kind of shit? I have some here in Burgeristan in my bathroom that you can't short out on purpose as it kicks the breaker before the current even hits the outlet. (fucking magic)

???

>9V battery
>less current than 1.5V AA battery
I don't think that's how it works user.

you are talking about GFCI outlets, yeah

It would give you a pleasant orgasm, better than women

This is Richard Bull aka Terrence Fuckwit.

He looks like a fucking idiot and he has proven he was a fucking idiot.

He is the reason why you'll be scratching your head when you read a warning on your phone charger not to immerse it in water whilst plugged in.

That's exactly how it works though.

What a fearless young fellow. He has a great future ahead of him.

I wish more boys his age would think outside the box.

how can USB level current kill you?

>iPhone kills man
cool story for a fake news blog

So? That means it's wise to buy one?

Yanks cry fake news.

Elect President who is a proven liar and sex pest.

I don't know what I'm hoping for more, that Donald presses the nuclear fuck-it button or that I should try to charge my phone while I'm in the bath.

If grounds are not isolated a wall charger can kill you.

Buy a Chinese 2-buck charger and do it. Post results.

Humans only need 20mA to kill you, these chargers put out 1000-2000mA.

Remember it's not the voltage that kills, it's the current.

Fucking nigger kid

But don't forget the human skin resistance. Dry skin offers the most resistance, and it drops when skin is wet, so you can get lethal currents at less voltage.

That's why when you touch both terminals of a car battery, even when they can supply hundreds of Amperes, they don't kill you, because its 13V or 14V are not enough to supply a lethal current through your body.

tl;dr Ohm's law.

>richard bull

Yep totally looks like a pajeet to me

"Path of least resistance" usually applies to 99 percent of everydays' situation and that also means electric shock up yo ass

>Elect President who is a proven liar and sex pest.
Why are you spreading lies user?

This picture triggers me quite a decent amount.

How the fuck did this happen?

If it was actually the extension cord, why wouldn't it have been plugged into a GFCI outlet to save his dumb ass?

Similarly, how could a charger possibly deliver enough voltage and amperage to fry somebody?

Are Bong outlets center-tap split phase like domestic NA 240V, or is neutral tied to ground?

"The extension cable was on the floor and it appeared as though he had his phone charger on his chest and the part between the phone charger and the cable had made contact with the water."
from cnet article

I shouldn't let this get to me but I can't help it. Is this article legit?

Sir, the British press is the last great bastion of truth and integrity.

lol

youtube.com/user/ThePackLeaderWolfe/

He has a YouTube channel. Perhaps we can show our support and love for his superior intellect.

that's not stupidity, it was suicide user
he was probably just trying to spare his family and give them a little reasonable doubt not using a toaster

Why can't I help but think if you got doxed you'd be the new 4ch posterboy like chrischan jr. or something

He's got a girlfriend and he's retarded, why can't you Sup Forums?

Fuck apple butter let's go to actual angering tech illiteracy
>user can you fix my computer
>Sure let me handle it
>No-no! Just tell me what to do
>*Tell them what to do
>Okay out do it
>Proceeds to question every single action you make
Just fix it yourself you dumb cunt, oh thats right, that's how you fucked it up in the first place.

It's [current year] and people still don't even know what a cpu is and what it's function is despite growing with technology. Forgiving those who aged without it is fine but if you're in your 30s and you don't know, it's time to fucking learn

>552▶
Maybe its time to stop posting

I agree with this statement

Some real intelligence right here, OP nice thread would response again in the future

>another "Sup Forums does not understand basic laws of electricity" episode
Thanks guys, this is why i lurk Sup Forums.

>incapable of quoting properly
>asking others to stop posting

Hey, I kindly ask you to shut the fuck up cunt. thank you very much.

Greatings, Henk de Vries

>being this butthurt

>you

>rendered speechless
>post a picture instead
Shameful.

Don't let that guy get to you, you're the better man!

I'm pretty sure that is a complete bullshit. The electricity pretty much only passes through the spit/tongue to the other terminal on the battery, the worst that might happen is tissue damage to the tongue itself.

...

>Oh no he got me what should I do? Hurr durr let me reply to that message twice!

Wtf 5v can kill you now ?

Wtf I touch a 40amps power supply at work everyday am i a superhuman ? How did this board becomed so full of retards ?

I hope you die trying to prove this

The only explanation I can think of for why this happened is the guy was using a cheap chinese power adapter with poor isolation between the primary and secondary sides.
