ubuntu that doesnt just work

Home of the "stable" three-year-old packages.

install TempleOS

...

sauce?

...

kek

outdated piece of shit. horrible packaging system. "elitist" community.

Solid option for servers.
Retarded meme for desktops.

Stable as a rock, the distro I always return to since Etch.

Everything else, except RH/CentOS, just feels broken.

Tumbleweed?

GOAT GNU/Linux/systemd.

A good all-around stable disto.

devuan.org/

Oh god i hate OPensuse.
Tumbleweed is a too bleeding-edge edition (fuckers didn't even tried to compile Enlightenment properly, in my case it kept crushing several times an hour)
Debian's okay (systemd infested though)

Great for minimalist servers.
Okay for desktops but I prefer Ubuntu or Mint.
Meh for development because of outdated packages that will force you to either use backports, use upstream repos, or manually install packages which can result in a package management clusterfuck when you have to work with different versions of dependencies.

Muh dm

Other than the bullshit required to get Firefox, I've never had any trouble

>inb4 >Firefox

""""""""""stable"""""""""" distro

*upvotes*

>Other than the bullshit required to get Firefox, I've never had any trouble

apt-get install firefox-esr

ITT retards who don't know what stable means

No one in professional organizations are going to use this

>le dopple man
I use it at work, municipal gov, it hosts VMs and an Ubiquiti controller

Businesses use RedHat or SuSE anyway. Everything else is just a meme as far as commercial use goes.

Just don't use systemd

CentOS

The best distro. Sadly the only other two passable distros are being developed by corporations so Debian is the only good one at all. Anyone using anything other than Debian is either being forced by their work, new to GNU/Linux, or a pitiful poor sad idiot.

solid distro, never had a problem
don't listen to arch babies

lists.debian.org/debian-vote/2016/07/msg00028.html
Good for SJWs. Plus it only comes with SystemD! Super!!

Arch linux has more recent and pure packages + it doesn't bring the bloat debian install brings

debian probably has the most retarded core developers after arch

user, can I see a screenfetch?

>what is debian unstable

>retard doesn't know about minimal install, optionall with --no-install-recommends
Debian is lighter than Arch but retards like you only look at package counts in screenfetch

Dead, just like its founder.

This.

There is only one distro and Ian is its prophet.

>debian unstable has chrome 56
>arch stable has 57
catch up
>getting this emotional over someone's opinion on a distro
seek professional help buddy

Bitches about me needing to install non free drivers just to install the OS

pffft. fake.

It's ok. The moment they try to force their SJW koolaid on my desktop is the moment I move on from them. It would be a shame, since I quite like it.

> > 59499051
[no you]

Literally a distro for cucks (Ian got cucked by Deb lmao and later suicided)

@59499104
[suck my cock]

smells like fish.

thats because I just pulled it out of your pussy

you mean my boypussy?

there's not much boy to you

I'm more of a Fedora guy, the few times I used debian, I only had issues…
At my school, it's outdated as hell and features are lacking on some software…
When I installed it on my desktop, I had missing firmware…

On Fedora, everything is fine and it's fucking comfy

there's non-free installation media. Alternatively download the firmware(s) before-hand and place on USB/whatever, the newer installers ask for them

>switch to debian
>certain things don't work
>kernel old af
>upgrade to "unstable" repo
>everything works

moral of the story: stable = fucking old shit, testing = slightly old shit, unstable = comfy
10/10

Fedora is pretty much the only good distro

If you just want generic gnome 3 and a shitload of packages I would just use fedora nowadays

Hell if you want a server I would still say fedora server or centos since pretty much everyone uses RH aids on their servers.
It will be a useful skill to know.

>boypussy
What?

>I'm more of a Fedora guy

Maybe because next to nobody use it with that de.

It happened. I saw it.

CentOS is RHEL you numbnuts

no

Stable as a big fucking rock.
Accept no subsititute.

spot the ubuntu fag

Ubuntu was kind of neat back in the ShipIt days, where they'd mail you like 50 installation discs and stickers.

I had the red hardy heron 8.04 CD with faggots holding hands, good times

>99998
So close, I think I had stopped ordering by them, but yeah, I feel like the pre HH discs were also pretty fruity.

I always took the max of each, even the PPC ones that I'm sure got used zero times ever.

thats a shitty move, maybe someone needed it
and i wanna shoot myself over that quints miss lol

This actually happened. It was right before he killed himself.

Maybe if you were a successful shitposter, not a NIGGER, you would know this.

10/10 comfy os.
Stable just werks.
There's linux, cinnamon, xfce, xorg, zsh, vim and every other thing you may need to customize.
Git repositories always give compilation instructions to dumb ubuntu users, so compiling is easy as fuck.
Not as mainstream as ubuntu but not as edgy as arch linux.
Can use all of ubuntu documentation, and the debian wiki.
Did i mention comfy?
Also backports. I'm running linux 4.9 on debian stable.
I still have to understand how systemd is damaging the os, but it's a nice funny reddit meme i guess.

The community is full of SJWs but whatever.

I love it (: Dual booting this and 7.

Nice knowyourmeme filename u redditor

>Businesses use RedHat
Just because you pay for support, and {{audits}} love that, they are good merchants...

archive.is/vBS6N

Scroll down.

I didn't even look where it came from, I just remembered seeing "le hat maymay" before and it was the first thing on google images ;^)

google.com/search?q=le hat meme

I did give them to people while I was in college to try Ubuntu, told them it was for Power PC, their PCs must not have been powerful enough.

kek

Dont know I dont use systemd distros. OpenBSD user here, will be setting up VOID on another PC

Works great on my little atom netbook, it was pretty fun to get it all working

...

Install gentoo. Void its a debian of arch world with autistic package manager (intended to be simple but really what the heck) added.

>Thoughts?

package museum

he's added debian to his repertoire. shouldn't you be creating a bsd troll thread soon?

Arch packages are not as lightweight naturally, as each package is compiled to support everything. It does make the package management much more simple, though. One reason I prefer pacman over apt
apt is still pretty good, probably #2 behind pacman, portage is overrated and a bloated mess. yum and rpm are a fucking disaster, let's not talk about that

How stable would you say unstable is?

you dont wanna know, wanna know why?

stable just means "doesn't change". it is not intended to mean "doesn't crash". therefore unstable changes a lot because of churning bugs.

So then would testing be the sweet spot for a desktop user?

no. testing is the worst daily driver.

testing is where the puzzle is being pieced together. for various reasons part of the puzzle is missing for unknown time. things may stay broken for a while.

unstable is more rapid with the goal of working. testing is where the vision of stable-next slowly takes form

I am currently using testing on both of my daily drivers... I can see what you mean. It deferentially is more likable than stable for me though. I will give it a shot on my old thinkpad and see if it was a wise choice. I was just very weary to try it because it is called "unstable." They should try calling it fresh instead.

I want Sucy to give me the sucky.

>debian women
in the fucking bin that goes

Fucking gay.

Linus didn't even bother with installing it because it's a waste of time.

Ubuntu already provides everything debian can and more.
