What's your excuse?
>not owning a GPD Win
scalpers.
I'm getting a Pocket.
>intel "hd" "graphics"
I'm waiting for the smach z.
It's weak
It's like having a Core2 Duo in your pocket
Pocket Ubuntu.
You're weak.
>amd mobile chip
>not a fucking housefire
pick one
I have not enough money to justify purchase.
>$535
what kind of manchild faggot fuck would pay that much for a shitty gaymen device jesus fuck
>A literal who suggest a shitty machine
Kids on g always being influenced by those shitty youtubers
take your shitty gaymen toy back to Sup Forums
I legit just want a linux-capable ultraportable with a real screen.
You realize people are getting 4GHz OCs on their R7 1700 with the stock cooler, right?
Linus never recommended it. He was decidedly unimpressed.
To be honest he really shit on the whole concept of a micro laptop.
>waiting
And therein lies the issue
Why would you do something so retarded?
Yeah that's kind of the point
Is that supposed to prove to him that isnt a housefire?
I was going to buy a VAIO P. The Pocket's only marginally more expensive for hardware that's almost a decade newer. Plus it's actually pocketable, unlike the VAIO P.
Wow .3ghz above the turbo
Truly incredible
You're one of the worst fucking tripfags
>12w amd mobile poo arch chip = 8 core ryzen desktop
>clocks means it's not a housefire
The average literacy of tripfags
Linux Cuck Tips recommended it.
Golden rule: Do the opposite of whatever Linus says
the same manchildren who buy current gen flagship gpus
I was gonna argue that modern shit specs are still shit specs but then I realized there's really no good handheld PC's at all, there's a gaping hole in the market being temporarily filled by concept-tier garbage, how hard can it be for someone to release something with a proper low power laptop CPU instead of these trash heaps, especially when full power laptop chips are literally at the passive cooling point
The Win and Pocket provide Core2 Duo performance (well they've got half the single thread performance but twice the threads), that's more than enough for me in a UMPC. Hell my current one's CPU is shittier than an Atom N270
>core2duo performance
>Cherry Trail atoms
This is what I'm talking about, if they can fit a 5w pile of shit atom like that into a folding smartphone then why can't they fit a 5w pile of shit core Y in there?
Makes no sense to release something so underpowered and then claim "it's performances is so good!" "Active cooling means it performs better than a surface!" and sell it for $600 is just fucking retarded
I don't see the issue, why would you need more than that in a mobile device? I mean, hell, my desktop has a Core2 Duo.
It's not about a "mobile device" it's about a "$600 for an atom with a keyboard"
Why not just buy a $150 quad core atom tablet with a keyboard cover? You don't need that kind of power mobile anyways right?
What I'm saying is that they're selling a $150 tablet but packing it in a MacBook-knockoff shell and pretending they can charge $600 because "it's good compared to real laptop prices!"
Sure the price is a little high but it's not like they've got any competition. They could charge a grand and I'd buy the shit out of it simply because there are no other options.
Yeah, that's exactly what I said was wrong
You are exactly what's wrong about this situation
They do have competition, it's literally $150 tablets. The GPD Win at least has form factor but the pocket is literally a retarded device, that fails at filling several relevant niches while still failing to fill its own
>Yeah, that's exactly what I said was wrong
I agree that it's an issue but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here, there are no alternatives
>tablets
no
At least you have to admit that this 7" folding tablet is objectively worse than a 9" folding tablet with double the processing power for half the price
They're different device for different things. This 7" UMPC is objectively better than a 9" netbook merely due to the form factor and size. As I said earlier, it's already got Core2 Duo performance and that's good enough for me, I couldn't care less if a different device is more powerful.
So a core 2 duo, worse than literally any modern U processor you can find for a laptop with for $600, is worth your $600 because it's 7" instead of 9"?
I mean shit, even smartphones beat this thing, you're literally paying $400-500 just for the keyboard
But why compare this to desktop processors when you can compare it to the alternatives?
Remember those M and Y series are also 5w chips capable of passive cooling just like the atom
I can't put a 9" laptop in pocket.
>you're literally paying $400-500 just for the keyboard
Pretty much
Can you put a 7" smartphone in your pocket?
Like a Snapdragon 820?
I used to carry an 8" tablet in my pocket all the time
Well 8" tablets drastically outperform the Z8700 too for less than half the price
How many times have I told you the Pocket has satisfactory performance for my needs?
Why i it that every reviewer now recommends the GPD win? Wait, you dont have to tell me
And so does a 7" smartphone, an 8" tablet or an 11" laptop, for much lower prices
I'm not saying it isn't a neat typewriter with a router's CPU, but that anybody who would consider spending $600 on the pocket is so out of touch with his own wants and needs that he must be mentally challenged in some way
Because the nvidia shield is made by "the bad guys"
>And so does a 7" smartphone
Nope, runs Android and lacks a keyboard
>an 8" tablet
Lacks a keyboard
>or an 11" laptop
Not pocketable
Nobody cares about android hardware
Anyway, I'm happy with my 8" windows tablet.
the keyboard is removable user, and much smaller than the Pockets lower half. I know this may be a foreign concept for you but in the future there's this thing known as optional expandability
Are you and I the only ones posting?
The pocket is shit and fills no niches, the win is shit and fills a niche
Because the pocket is such a disaster that they're jumping ship to the only viable UMPC with a game pad in this decade
>the keyboard is removable user
That's not a good thing
>and much smaller than the Pockets lower half
I honestly couldn't give less of a shit. It also doesn't have USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI.
>I know this may be a foreign concept for you but in the future there's this thing known as optional expandability
I know this may be a foreign concept to you but we both have these things called opinions and ours simply differ.
The difference is my opinion is substantiated
You have no arguments other than "ITS MY MONEY ILL DO WHAT I WANT"
Which is fine, but you need to make the admittance that you're making retarded purchases meant for ignorant buyers
It's a fucking opinion, I don't need to prove anything about it. It's simply my goddamned preferences.
>You have no arguments other than "ITS MY MONEY ILL DO WHAT I WANT"
My argument is that I want a pocketable laptop like device and am not interested in a tablet with a keyboard. That narrows my options down to one, the Pocket.
>linus now advertises gaming food
You can't go lower than this
Make
The

EMBRACE
YOUR
IGNORANCE
I see you've got no argument and have resorted to blatant shitposting.
Make the admittance
Come on now
Unless you have an argument
Please do explain how wanting such a device makes me ignorant. Im dying to hear this load of bull.

I bought a $395 CDN 48" LED TV on sale for that much.
fuck off shill
You could just read
Or you could make an argument that isn't "BUT I WANT IT!"
>liking a product makes you a shill
ebin!
>Or you could make an argument that isn't "BUT I WANT IT!"
I don't like typing on touchscreen keyboards, am not interested in using it as a tablet, can't install Ubuntu on a tablet, and like that it has HDMI and USB ports. This is the only device that suits that criteria.
When you don't have a single reason why you would want it you are
>B-B-ut I have no other options that are also the pocket
Why are you so asspained that I like it? It's not like my purchase is going to affect your basement-dwelling ass in any way whatsoever.
That's all literally wrong
Have you even taken a look into the alternatives or did you just see this on Kickstarter and cum your pants?
Literally none of it is wrong.
>Have you even taken a look into the alternatives
If there was an alternative I'd already own it.
>physical keyboard, which you don't have to remove
>Linux support for years
>Almost all tablets have USB and some video out at this point
>But T-TABLET!!!!! THATS RETARDED AND A 7" ATOM LAPTOP IS COOL!
>Ubuntu
There are touch-compatible distros if you try leaving amateur hour for once
>physical keyboard, which you don't have to remove
I want it attached. Why would I want it to be removable when I'm never going to remove it?
>Linux support for years
What tablet has desktop Ubuntu support?
>Almost all tablets have USB and some video out at this point
They're still just tablets
>But T-TABLET!!!!! THATS RETARDED AND A 7" ATOM LAPTOP IS COOL
It suits my needs, tablets don't. Again, why are you so assblasted that my opinions aren't exactly the same as yours?
I don't give a shit about touch support.
>thinking that pile of shit with a passively cooled 35W AMD chip is going to be released.
I don't know, you just listed some needs that are all 100% disproven by tablets
>B-B-BUT TAAAAAABLEEEET!!!!
Because Core M uses up to 21W on turbo. It has no place in a handheld with a tiny battery. An Atom maxed out is going to use similar amounts of power of a Core M on idle.
>GPD Win thread
>Corrodes into discussion about pig disgusting GPD pocket
If you wanted a mini macbook just get a mini macbook (or an iPad which is more powerful)
The reason the Win is cool is because muh gaymen, which is a pretty real consideration here
Of course a PSP with an 8 core 4Ghz CPU would be better but the focus here is portable (meaning battery life) gaymen (meaning adequate performance)
What's so hard to understand about me wanting an actual clamshell device and not just a goddamned tablet with a keyboard? Besides, this has official Ubuntu support. Let's see some tablets with that. And yet again, the question you just can't seem to comprehend. Why does my opinion upset you so much when it will not affect you at all?
Why are you so obsessed with Ubuntu bro? If you wanted a small Linux machine on a battery-limited device you shouldn't be running orange windows
Because your core arguments (which would normally be usability, power, on-time, etc) devolve completely into "I WANT IT"
Basically it's the Mac argument, you pay double, get half, and have a certain aesthetic
I have no particular obsession with Ubuntu, it's more the fact that it has official Linux support.
as opposed to a fake screen? wew
I want it because it will be useful, now go eat a dick.
Linux support means the hardware works
Ubuntu is a pile of bloated trash made to "just werk"
"Official Ubuntu support" is a fucking joke
Still better than every other tablet having no official Linux support regardless of distro. Seriously, the last time I heard abouta tablet with official Linux support, it was the Archos 70 with Angström Linux, and that never even fucking happened. Not to mention tablets also lack USB A and most lack USB C, none have a fullsized HDMI port, and none have a keyboard permanently attached.
That's because "official Linux support" is a fucking meme
>everything's a meme
xD
Wow you think there might be a reason that no FLOSS is advertised as a marketable profitable feature?
I really don't give a fuck.
Why do you think the last time you saw "OFFICIAL LINUX SUPPORT ONLY ON OUR DEVICE FOR $600!" Was so long ago and sporadic?
Are you saying that "official" Linux support is common?
Do you think Torvalds worked with GPD for this?
>Why do you think the last time you saw "OFFICIAL LINUX SUPPORT ONLY ON OUR DEVICE FOR $600!" Was so long ago and sporadic?
Because it's uncommon
>Are you saying that "official" Linux support is common?
Quite the opposite.
>Do you think Torvalds worked with GPD for this?
Of course not.
>So mad he can't even answer other people now
The cherry on top would be if this thread and your investment in (you)s actually convinced you to buy one prove a point to yourself
Honestly I want to see you buy one
Official Linux support doesn't mean anything.
So which prime minister grandwizard made the call that Linux is "officially" supported?
Meanwhile practically all Linux machines lack "official Ubuntu support"
What are you actually expecting from "official support" I'm curious now?
>everything's a meme
xD
>>So mad he can't even answer other people now
"I don't give a fuck" is an answer, dumbass.
>The cherry on top would be if this thread and your investment in (you)s actually convinced you to buy one prove a point to yourself
What does the thread have to do with my decision to buy one? I went into this thread having that decision made. Actually, what started this whole argument was me saying I'm getting a Pocket.
>Honestly I want to see you buy one
See It means I don't have to worry about lacking drivers and other bullshit.
>So which prime minister grandwizard made the call that Linux is "officially" supported?
GPD.
>What are you actually expecting from "official support" I'm curious now?
A device that runs Ubuntu out of the box and has drivers for the hardware.
I'm not surprised that a Tripfag would be this retarded.
That fucking thing is XBOX HUEG... Jesus Christ what's the fucking point of this? This is way too big to be mobile, are you going to sit at home playing your handheld console? Please explain to me why anyone in their right mind would consider this abomination.
DOA
My tablet that I just bought has official Ubuntu support too because I put Ubuntu on it and I said its official
I got drivers for all the hardware so I can now sell this as one of the only official Ubuntu machines in the planet
Show me your receipt and I'll shut up
And where do you think those drivers come from?
Shirley it can't be the same place everybody does right? Your tablet is special
>It means I don't have to worry about lacking drivers and other bull****.
You wouldn't really have to for most x86 devices, that's what Ubuntu is for. Regardless, I doubt the "official support" will last very long for such an inexpensive product.
