Apt-get remove ttf-liberation

>apt-get remove ttf-liberation
>removes your whole os
why is this allowed?

use Arch instead

apt-get a shit.

i'm seriously considering it, but i still want to understand why shit like this happens with apt-crap in fucking 2017

it's "Plebeian"
Not that I would expect a Linux user to have any idea of linguistics

It doesn't though.

lfr@bebok:~ $ uname -a
Linux bebok 4.9.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.2-2 (2017-01-12) x86_64 GNU/Linux
lfr@bebok:~ $ apt -s remove ttf-liberation
NOTE: This is only a simulation!
apt needs root privileges for real execution.
Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated,
so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation!

stop wasting everyones resources and kys already to make the world a better place

You don't even have to install Arch. In fact don't install Arch. Install Mageia or Salix or some high-tier distro Sup Forums hasn't heard of.

Try with xfonts-100dpi.

You should install wangblows 10

What's wrong with you nigga?

It's because of how meta/group packages work in Debian/Ubuntu. IIRC you need to first mark the package as explicitly installed, and then you can remove it safely.

It's different but not wrong.

you should seriously consider killing yourself. that way your parents might be proud of you for the first time.

its still a binary distro so it has that same dependency shit that debian has

> OP fucks up his Debian Linux install
> wants to go for Arch instead

fuck logic

'cause it's Plebian.

the logic is pretty solid, actually.
arch is the Sup Forums of linux distros - i.e. a containment distro where you send retards so they don't shit up your favourite distro

i know your father

The power of Linux™

You opened my eyes

Idiot.

>sage goes in all fields
It doesn't do anything in any field but the option one, idiot. Your buzzphrase has been irrelevant since the day it was conceived, but your retardation doesn't allow you to realize that.

Uhhhhh...

wtf I hate Debian now

this

It didn't even fit in a single screen.

are you a nigger or why didn't you learn to read as a kid?

>The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
You did a tonne of stuff before running that command.

>Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
And it's not going to get rid of them until you tell it to.

Last one.

Look at and niggers.

No idea.
Maybe you're just cursed.

Lenna pls go

so are you one of those retards who install packages outside of their repos without know shit about it ? or even ubuntu packages ?

>rm -rf /
>removes everything
>Why is this allowed?!?!!1!

Have you tried not being retarded?

>Why is this allowed?!?!!1!

Well, it's not allowed anymore

Dude, that's totally mean.

at least it will free some disk space lol

it was never allowed unless you logged in as root. so you always had to be really fucking retarded or a troll

Debian BTFO!

>23 posters

You fags sure are mad that Debian is the best distro. If you're using anything other than Debian, Fedora, or Ubuntu, you're a retard.

>Installing the OS that needs font managers to not get fucking slow if you install too much fonts.
>Recommending the OS where the solution to any problem must be "just reintall the OS".
>Installing the OS where you need to declare what are your active hours and where you need to pirate an enterprise version to have an OS that respects you the minimum acceptable.
LMAO

Also since two of those belong to literally Evil Corp, Debian is the only acceptable distro.

Poor OP

Does Evil Corp refer to something else or do people really believe that show was at all memorable beyond the "I see you're running Gnome"?

Hey man, you just removed xorg by accident.

>pretends to know linguistics
>literally too dumb to understand how portmanteaus work
Hurr durr

It's a metapackage

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Use `LC_ALL=C apt-get whatever` when you post online

god I hate dumb fucks who use non-English locales

Spanish has more speakers than English, why would they have to change their stuff just because you're too dumb to learn a more important language? We even learn Spanish at schools; if you don't know at least three languages you're ignorant.

Because English is the defacto language of international communication and Spanish is a local language.

By your logic, why aren't you speaking chinese?

English is the lingua franca, especially in the internet, especially in Sup Forums. It doesn't matter if there are billions of Spanish speaking shitskins in South America, it also doesn't matter if Americucks are forced to learn Spanish

>dumbfuck
At least he knows two languages.

>Spanish is a local language

The local language of the wolrd is Chinese, but spanish is the local language of his computer, yes.

>why aren't you speaking chinese?

I am.

>English is the lingua franca

Wrong.

>especially in the internet
>t. someone who doesn't know that most of the Internet is Chinese and Russian

You guys are so damn stupid, stop making yourselves look like dumbasses kek

I can speak four languages, nigger. Two languages is the bare minimum to be considered a human

No one apart from gooks and tortilla niggers speak these moon rune languages

teu cu filha da puta

Holy crap, debian is truly awful.

shows good as fuck cuck, doesnt have to jerk off Sup Forums for the whole show to be good. read a fucking book or blow your load on anime figurines if you wanna be trash

Check them now to further confirm that the shills are desperate.

I don't know why, but I can at least tell you that it is a universal problem and not your mistake. It's one of the reasons I left Debian-based distros behind. Arch is pretty nice, and so is NixOS.

I've had less troubles on Arch than Debian.

install OpenSUSE

apt is fighting the bloat, based debian

Lot of sameposting in this thread from Debian haters. What a shame.

Those packages aren't actually uninstalled though.

install solus

DO IT, FAGGOT!

OP's completely full of shit and probably into cheese pizza.

Why does debian need to remove a million unrelated programs for some fonts?

So long story short, if you remove a package that another package or packages hard depend on, apt-get will remove those packages as well.

It doesn't remove the whole OS though it will remove X.

Because Debian's X hard depends on those fonts.

shit nigger what the fuck are you doing

>be op
>make a picture to make fun of an OS
>spell it wrong
It's fucking spelled plebeian you idiot.

>plebian
>ever

>fonts are bloat

so inconsistent! anybody that says that shit like this has never happened to then when using apt is full of shit.

>his OS only takes up 5 megabytes
What's it like living in 1986?

It's not just apt, it's the debian packagers and their 4 different suggested tags and retarded hard requirements for builds.

Because DE is a metapackage, you break one dependency and everything is broken. Yup, been there. Either don't touch it, or type "apt-get install ". That'll switch it to a manual installation mode.

Why the fuck do you even have this installed, bru.

It liberates your PC from its operating system

Cringe

APT::Get::AutomaticRemove "0";
APT::Get::HideAutoRemove "1";

wew that only took 5 seconds of stackexchange

Or, if you want to keep the autoremove functionality while ignoring that mess:

sudo aptitude keep-all

Why doesn't this ever get posted?

nigga dpkg is bad but pacman is literally amateur level garbage

pacman is the best and fastest package manager around even before you get the AUR involved to get the most packages available anywhere.

Official repos don't contain any useful shit. You either use extra repos and risk this kind of stuff happening, or get cucked with a selection of shit software.

Preach. Pacman is elegant and so simple even my gran could use it. But it can also be a complex beauty if you want.

I'm beginning to think people hating on Arch are either
>retarded
>following a hate bandwagon because they think it's cool (i.e. retarded)
>muh sekret club n shiz (basically make Arch look shit so less people use it)

Everybody's shitting on apt-get for this, but I'm having the exact same problem on OpenSUSE with Zypper.

opensuse has lots of metapackages, you don't have to use them. Zypper will automatically resolve version conflicts instead of exploding.

When I try to remove some font-related package it asks if I'm sure I want to remove hundreds of packages, saving 2.2GB.

I would remove 2.2 GB of fonts without second thoughts.

You can remove the metapackage without the packages it contains, then remove fonts.
