>he doesn't know assembly language
why are you even here?
He doesn't know assembly language
Assembly is great if you want to write code that only works on one architecture and will require a massive rewrite to port to anything else
>he doesnt spend 5 minutes reading about some tech related stuff only to immediately go to Sup Forums to shitpost about it along with some pedo-animation pictures
>he
fuckface
>He's a makifag who wants to LARP he knows assembly.
Shut up, tripfag.
That's not a tripfag, newfag.
True
What architectures do you write for user?
what one
Memes and shitposting. Why else would anyone be here?
He doesn't, EEs left Sup Forums a long time ago. All that's left is CS 101.
Let's collaborate on some 6502 asm:
SEI
CLD
LDA $2002
Ok your turn
I programmed 8051s and AVR in asm. Shit was cash, too bad I forgot it since then.
>Only EEs know assembly
addi $t0, $s0 $s1
ha ha CSE 341 XDXD MIPS!
Need help with some homework?
>he doesn't know MIPS_ASM
Why do people still post Maki on Sup Forums?
because shes /ourgirl/
I do, it's mostly useless.
Because I'm not a nerd like you freaks I'm just here for casual consumer advice and shitposting
>Assembly is great if you want to write code that only works on one architecture and will require a massive rewrite to port to anything else
No, assembly's great if you want to learn how computers work. It's also a MUST if you want to understand hacking or any type of computer security.
People who don't know assembly are simply not tech-literate. If you are a programmer and you don't know assembly, you're not really a programmer but a fucking pleb pretending to be a programmer. Poojeets are better than you.
Just being able to read assembly is major redpill. Otherwise you're either a poojeet writing JS or a 10 year old learning to make Minecraft mods.
DLX One
CE reporting in
>i'm le hecker
lol fuck off
Tits or gtfo
correct
>I do, it's mostly useless.
then you have a shit job.
I've found few bugs in GCC because I knew assembly. One time I was workign on a project and was always getting wrong result. I then disassembled few functions and traced out the assembly generated by the compiler and found a bug. Submitted a patch and it was accepted.
People who don't know assembly are plebs. Plain and simple.
What bugs user, post them.
HRT: the post
I've heard lots of people mention assembly is important but also that it isn't a skill you'll use often. I've never taken the time to learn it. Is it hard? Why exactly should I learn it?
I am here because you don't know chemistry in turn.
One of them was a pointer arithmetic bug. GCC was generating wrong series of instructions because there was a bug in an optimizer. Other bug was a floating point division bug.. again, due to an optimizer.
>I've heard lots of people mention assembly is important but also that it isn't a skill you'll use often. I've never taken the time to learn it. Is it hard? Why exactly should I learn it?
You don't use it often because you don't have the skill. You should learn it so you understand how things work.
>I am here because you don't know chemistry in turn.
try . this is Sup Forums after all so you can't fault us for not being experts in a totally different field.
>try So i should go to a theoretical board because you don't know the technological applications of chemistry?
Some people are just unaware of their lack of education it seems.
When Sup Forums is renamed into software or programming, you can talk shit kiddo.
Is this nigga really talking about how to spend your time learning shit when he's been monitoring and replying to his thread for 3 hours?
I mean actually link to your bug report, I want to see it.
Is that the only merit? I mean I like understanding how things work but is there a bigger reason I should drop everything and learn assembly?
for what architecture? saying "i know assembly" is retarded
if you understand how memory, registers, stacks etc work then you could pick up assembly pretty quickly
why you would even want to is another matter
>buttmad jobless chemist
kek
>for what architecture? saying "i know assembly" is retarded
If you know x86-64 you can learn MIPS or ARM in a day or so.
I don't emphasize with your joblessness.
Though the fact that you think software is
the only approach to technology and not merely
one minor one in a myriad, does tell me why
you are jobless.
>retard goes on Sup Forums and preaches chemistry
>gets mad when people call him on his bullshit
>gets mad because people point out he's unemployable
keep the butthurt up! I'm enjoying it!
>people
>one buttmad guy who is being replaced by Pajeets because he is so tech illiterate he thinks programming is a synonym for technology
Keep going. You are giving the Indians even more ammo against yourself.
You're the tripfag here. I don't think you have any grounds to be calling other people fuckfaces.
even with pajeets, I have zero troubles making $120k+/year. you can't even make half of that with a chem degree.
It's nice to have a deeper understanding of how computers work, but don't kid yourself into thinking it's useful.
>petrochem
>can't even make half of that
Even an average metallurgist gets that much.
You should consider killing yourself before Pajeets take your place. That way you will cut your shaming off before it happens.
So this is Sup Forums? This is my first time visiting the board and I at least expected some tech talk instead of endless shit flinging. You guys are no better than Sup Forums. I guess it's my fault for expecting more from Sup Forums other than shitposting
It contains my name. So no. But you can go on GCC Bugzilla and see the types of bug reports they get.
The difference between Sup Forums and Sup Forums is that while Sup Forums is populated by adults who act like 15 year olds, Sup Forums is populated by actual 15 year olds.
I know the basics but couldn't stand the implications of becoming an enlightened code monkey, so I quit programming and picked up civil engineering. Ignorance is bliss.
>petrochem
kek... that was fun years ago. nowadays, even they have layoffs. not to mention that that petrochem is the worst fucking job ever.
stay mad, stay unemployed!
I never thought I'd wanna go back to /r9k/ but you guys have convinced me. Holy hell
Fuck off
>nowadays, even they have layoffs
Wow, someone who actually doesn't know what they are talking about.
This is the first time i'm seeing it on Sup Forums.
>buttmad chemist is till mad
go back to that unemployment office and get a fucking job. I'm sick of my taxes going to warfare to support morons like you.
>go back to that unemployment office
>i'm sick of my taxes supporting morons like you
It's true what they say. An expendable "programmer" can be identified by their inability to avoid contradictions, and their lack of tech education beyond writing code like a monkey.
It's sad. No wonder Pajeets and feminists are having a field day in your sector. It's the one infested with the stupidest of people.
over 50% of chemistry and bilogy grads are women. less than 10% of CS grads are women.
and you dare bring that up?
fucking idiot. no wonder you're unemployable.
>thread has literally degraded to a chemist and some assembly fag having a longer dick contest
Does anyone even browse this board for actual discussion or is it simply a consumer shitposting board?
>over 50% of chemistry and bilogy grads are women.
I like how you added biology because you don't have an argument on feminism and social justice shit without mixing biology stats with chem.
In chem, none of them are retarded feminists,
but hard-working women who actually care about
the field and put time into it. Don't have time for stupid women's marches or some feminist bitch beneath their IQ bossing them around.
Let that marinate in your mind a little.
Meanwhile, look at your field. A disgrace that makes me laugh.
it's easier to get (you)s with bait than well thought out arguments
>he doesn't scramble his eggs
All women in the workforce are feminists, you're a cuck for not only being a soft science like a chemist, but supporting SJWs
>Meanwhile, look at your field. A disgrace that makes me laugh.
Still 95% male. Still making SHITTON OF MONEY. Still easy as fuck to start a company.
Finally, still changing the world and putting worthless sacks of shit like you out of work since w're automating everything.
Stay mad! Keep collecting those welfare checks while you're still around.
...
There is no point in knowing assembly unless you develop operating systems, develop compilers, or do reverse engineering.
Chemistry is for cucks, when did they ever do anything for anyone?
>falling for the low level programming meme
no thanks
Because most of the time programmers are hardware illiterate
>95% male.
Make that 45%. As in 45% are Indian males,
while the other 50% are half-males or as i like to call them "western white half-males".
>shitton of money
Only the managers get shitton of money, by employing 10 Pajeets for 20% of your pay and firing you.
>Still easy as fuck to start a company.
And the most failure-prone sector to start a company in as well.
>automating everything
You can't automate anything without someone building shit and also improving the hardware you use to create automation.
Why are "programmers" so stupid and why do they lie so much on the Internet?
Especially the 2nd one. Lying seems to be their better skill. You should go for becoming a lawyer instead.
Stop lying chemistry cuck
I"m laughing at both of you as an outsider because BOTH of your industries are suffering horrible pajeetification and you're both fucked for it
x86 fag trying to write ARM, PPC, SH-4 or MIPS code:
>w-where are muh addressing modes
>"what is this load-store shit?" REEEEEEE
>"what is this delay slot shit?" REEEEEEE
>"fucking link registers, how do they work?"
No, x86 isn't really that of a good intro into general CPUs out there, because x86 is utter and complete brain damage.
Assembly at least isn't for beta cucks who want to share a job with women.
>01100100011000010110111001101011001000000110110101100101011011010110010101110011
>dat intel sticker
That can be fixed. Make writing machine code (or too close to it, eg C) ableist hate "speech". Only javascript and state-approved web frameworks promote equally on the grounds of being easy to use by everyone.
Assembly is for jobless people to feel good since it takes skill, but nobody wants to employ an unproductive programmer wasting time on that shit when they could have produced much more programming like normal people.
>it takes skill
it really doesnt
It does. The memory requirements to fix any mistakes or change shit are a skill in its own right. Even with the best management system, it still applies.
I want to learn but don't know where to start :(
it literally takes 20 min to learn the basics.
you can pick up the rest by reading books or CPU manuals.
The other guy is a code monkey who doesn't know assembly. So the whole thing is entirely pointless.
PLA
PLA
RTS
Because fuck your stack.
skilldrick.github.io
This is a fun page to get into it from scratch.
I'm a 68k wizard. It's too bad it's not the 80s anymore.
6502 is still too difficult, it should be easy like python. Python is the most used language and it reflects the quality of it.
write an emulator for an old Intel CPU in C++
It will require you to read and understand the entire datasheet completely
For an 8080 this isn't actually that hard. It's basically a subset of what x86 assembly is now. It even has SIMD instructions
Then go and use python.
I know how to learn a language, it's the setup that's confusing.
Is it possible to learn the low-level basics without using an interpreter?
>why are you even here?
Because I want to discuss various technologies!
>Because I want to discuss various technologies!
but you don't have required prerequisites to hold an intelligent discussion on topics related to technology.
it's like talking about cars without actually ever driven one.
>but you don't have required prerequisites to hold an intelligent discussion on topics related to technology.
Says you!
>Says you!
you're the one who said you don't know assembler.
>you're the one who said you don't know assembler.
Yes, and? Not sure why that would be a requirement to discuss one's interest.
There's only two real architectures: x86 and ARM. And most modern software is so intrinsically tied to a specific platform that there's no point in trying to port it anyway. Not to mention that OP didn't imply that you should use it for everything, just that not knowing it limits your options.
Technological applications of chemistry belong on Sup Forums, chemistry in general doesn't.
Go to /prog/ if you want actual discussion.
>chemistry is a soft science
Now I know you're trolling.
>t. "pointers are too hard"
I was disappointed that that wasn't real machine code.
Actually, SJW types like low-level programming since it's basically tearing down patriarchal social constructs like "object oriented programming" ("othering" the code and refusing to see it as an equal) and "bounds checking" (forcing a cultural identity on array indexes without their consent).
Assembly isn't unproductive when you use it in a situation that calls for it.
It's important that you recognize trans-bools. You must ask them if they self-identity as true or false regardless of whether or not they have a 1 or a 0.
>There's only two real architectures.
This looks promising. Let's see what the moron says next
>x86 and ARM.
Pffffrt.
>And most modern software is so intrinsically tied to a specific platform that there's no point in trying to port it anyway.
My god, this guy is fucking gold.
