How to use xbox 360 controller with linux

For me it worked ootb. If your controller is not an original xbox360 controller and if steam doesn't identify it automatically you may as a last resort to generate an SDL controller config string:

>linux doesn't work
it does tho
>You cant play 360 games on pc why bother.
There's a lot of games on pc, linux has the least ammount but they're still 2000+ at least and growing everyday, also some games are more comfy to play with a controller. But yeah, if games are the focus a cheap PC and a console may be a better option.
Go to /usr/src/linux, make menuconfig, search for xpad, enable the xpad module, save config, compile the kernel, install the module/kernel, if you compiled xpad as module, modprobe xpad, otherwise update your boot loader and reboot
how
Forgot the first step;
Install Gentoo
cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
>how to use X with linux
well the first step is to uninstall linux and install windows
You don't because video games are for brainlets.
