Where on earth can I get wood grain melamine/vinyl skin?
Wanna do up all my projects in it.
Fucking concept cars, why are they so based?
Feels like the DM-12 is the only "Concept car" that ever made it.
Who wants minicomputers?
And a repro
>Minicomputer
Fuck, I'm so used to saying mini for anything that's front panel.
Where's the best place to pick up these old-style CRT monitors?
Something about writing shit in a terminal makes me hyper-focused on programming and is deeply satisfying.
I'd love to hook up an old box with an emulated floppy drive to work on projects on. Would feel so sexy to run and compile C projects on such limited hardware.

I saw a 1960s HP oscilloscope in the ewaste bin at my university, but when I went back to go put it in my car, it was gone.

How about an 8 amp 950 watt blender?
>mfw this son of a bitch could power most personal computers
That settles it. I'm thrifting all day tomorrow.
I do it for a living. It's fun.

Once got an Apple Newton at a thrift store for $2.99, with price tag saying "Electronic Organizer"

What do you pull in monthly if you don't mind me asking? How big of an area do you cover?
S P A R C B O O K
MSRP 10k at the time of release
Model?
I have one of these. I have the RS232 model (be careful - lots out there are IBM only). I love it. Will be sad if it ever dies.
Also I took the case apart, cleaned it well and gave it a nice white/grey/black digi-camo paint job.
I had a 486 toshiba laptop that had a pop-out-and-mount trackball. Shit was pretty baller.
I used to do it full-time and could make upwards of $2-3k net a month. Then I got a job and worked for a year and just now getting back into the game so my sales are low right now as I've formed a new LLC and what not. I sold my last business when I started working to a local buy-sale-trade store that mainly wanted the aged 100% Top Rated eBay account and existing inventory.
Summer months are my best time to get inventory because of yard sales and flea markets. Thrift stores have gotten shitty in recent years thanks to shows like American Pickers and those places thinking they're retail stores instead of thrift stores.
I also buy wholesale and shop clearance racks at stores.
During November-December and during tax season (ie: right now) are some of the better revenue cycles. One year during the Black Friday - Christmas period I grossed nearly $8k.
A lot of the vintage computer / electronics crap stays in my collection.
the old ones that use tubes ain't all that useful really.
>color LCD
Yeah I can imagine that had to be pricey.

Find me a Koss ESP/8 and I'll make you rich.
I live in Florida too (Tampa) but I don't find much of the cool old stuff like vintage TVs much.
Maybe I should hit up some shops in New Port Richey or St. Petersburg

>Where's the best place to pick up these old-style CRT monitors?
Surplus sales, auctions, and recycling centers, also the dump (if it's legal in your area to throw away electronics).
>I'd love to hook up an old box with an emulated floppy drive
USB floppy drives are pretty easy to come by. Such low capacity. Just enough for some code and ascii art. I mounted one in my machine for grins. It's funny having an ssd mounted below it.
There we go.
Not that guy (but the original guy) and I have places within a two hour radius that I generally cover on set times. I know the dates when places put out new inventory, etc. I have relationships with many and they contact me ahead of time because they know I'll give them top dollar no bullshit.
I also scour junkyards. Certain car parts can fetch a premium if you're willing to take them out of cars. One afternoon I went through the entire junkyard pulling out every Infinity and Bose amp I could find. Why?
Because a $10-20 part at the junk yard can be sold on eBay for $100.
bettar choice
>dat keyboard
>tfw you live in Utah and all the dying old people are mormon clones of each other and they don't have any shit worth buying
I hit government surplus auctions/sales a lot and the CRT monitors are becoming more scarce. I've got several I've cherry picked and kept over the years, but so many ended up being recycled because they take up too much space.
Though I don't recycle those anymore if they work. I have land now and they go into storage and I hope to sell them to Gen Z hipsters for big bucks 10-15 years from now.
I live in Largo and all the old people live and die here and their stuff gets dumped into thrift shops all over.
I'd assume sarasota would be insane
Ever see any vintage TVs?
The two goodwills I go to regularly (sr54) just have a bunch of broken vcrs
They're good for working on things that use tubes. Can handle high voltage/high current and forgetfullness better. Other than that I completely agree.
Goodwill
A) Throws a lot of shit out
B) Puts a lot of shit on Shopgoodwill.com
C) Employees take it home
Most of the vintage TV's I see are 70's and 80's models with some 90's sprouting up nowadays. a lot of people just throw them out but I live in a really poor area and people hold on to stuff.
But fun going to an estate sale of some 90 year old lady and seeing a wood grain console television in the living room and getting it for free because the kids want the house cleaned so they can sell it ASAP.
My wood grain GE console TV in the basement has enough space on top to hold all of my vintage game systems that i play on it, plus other shit.
>tfw your uni always has free vintage gear ready for the taking
Depends. The church-run thrift stores are better for stuff like that because when the family all comes down here to clear out the deceased persons house, they want to "donate it all to a church" to feel like it isn't going to waste.
It just ends up on a shelf for 10$
>dekstop computer not on actual desk
nigga are you gay?
Nigga I don't own a desktop.
>he fell for all the memes
Good decision, also nice setup.
ty user
I'm a gen-y hipster myself, but since I have access to a never ending stream of Sony Trinitron Multiscans, maybe I should do the same thing and jew my own (and the gen-z) generation.
I mean they've already gone from "I'll give you money to take it" to "give me money for it" just in the last couple years.
my school had that until somefucks ruined it for the rest of us recently RIT's policy sucks.
fair point
God damn it nigga. You're still literally me but with autism.
What operating system would that be?
>"unauthorized removal or disposal of Institute owned, loaned or donated property, regardless of value, constitutes a violation of Institute policy."
wow that sucks
When I was in college years ago, they threw out an entire rooms worth of computer shit one time.
I loaded my fucking car down. Old Dell servers, wires, cables, books, manuals, softwares, etc.
>tfw ended up with 40 boxed copies of Windows/386
wouldn't that be 40 boxed copies of w-w-w-windows threeee-86?
