Looks like gay bullshit
I use pic related plus another newer Linksys as a network switch
the old WRT's are way too slow nowadays.
I don't use the wifi on them. The normal ethernet connection is fast enough
>"""""""fast""""""" 100mbit ethernet is fast enough
lmao
yeah it's fine if you live in a 3rd world country with sub 100mbps internet
I realize now I got the routers in my post switched. The old WRT is the switch while the newer WRT in pic related is the one I actually have as my router
The old WRT is just a network switch for a few older computers that don't support anything higher than 100mbps anyway
>I just bought pic related. Is it any good?
user, I,,,
My R700 screeches like a banshee when under load. Research tells me this is a defect common with them and it's fine as long as it's not irritating, which it isn't because it's in another room and I happened to hear it.
Think a capacitor is fucked or what?
WRT1900ACS, bredy gud so far
i have that exact router. works fine, looks like a sickass stealth bomber.
i believe dd-wrt is available for it, haven't checked in a while
The best I ever used. The shared storage feature is shit though.
>dd-wrt
never fall for this meme
really? i've only heard about it on here. i've never bothered because my router works and i don't know enough about networking to really understand the benefits of it
router/firewall
netgate.com
access point
asus.com
Asus in the wiki with advanced tomato
put tomato or DDWRT on it. It's a good router, anyone who disagrees knows nothing about routers.
>not overclocking your router
>missing out on sweet packet gains
Srs?
Kek I have the one that OP has. Before that i had the second user's.
I ran it for awhile once, all of my internet problems and random cutouts were dd-wrt fucking up
I sold one of those today at staples
>inb4 anything
I'm in college fuck off
fug I used to work at staples when i was in college too, fuckk staples
Do you really mean router? or do you mean access point?
I use ubiquiti unifi as my APs
ASUS WIFI Cellspot Router
tmonews.com
Got it for cheap just $59 after my old Belkin died but of course they sold out right away, luckily I snagged one.
It's a fucking gem. It's quick and it has plenty of options without custom firmware and I feel that if I get around to getting some custom firmware on it this thing would be GOAT
Sounds like bad hardware support or maybe just you being retarded
I've ran dd-wrt for a few years now with no issues
Also you can get it here now
I would've paid the $150 for it it's so good
The only problem is that people seem to be having problems connecting USB 3.0 devices to it because they interfere with the signal
I haven't had a chance to connect any hard drive or flash drive to it but this could be a problem.
Maybe if I use an extension cable so the flash drive isn't close to the router and doesn't interfere?
>pfsense
My nigga
do people on Sup Forums really use their router as an access point aswell?
mmmm sometimes
Yes it is. It's secretly the last great router. Throw ddwrt Kong build on it. Configure correctly. Enjoy destroying the airwaves for your neighbors within at least a 1 block radius.
Some Buffalo 1750AC. It's uber comfy.
YES AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME
why would I want to stop you? It just makes it easier for wardriving.
Airport Extreme 5th gen (A1408 model). Just werks for $25-30 on eBay.
>$25-30 on eBay
BULLSHIT show post
disregard that I looked on eBay
BRB ordering
yes I have this exact one, best Netgear router I have ever used. might need to pick up a switch though, using all the ethernet ports currently. never had issues with the wireless, and gaming (via ethernet of course) is excellent.
>might need to pick up a switch though
Don't
I heard Nintendo hasn't fixed a bunch of glitches
Maybe in a few months
Asus RT-AC56U. Has so many options that I can't ever hope to implement em all. Plus third party firmware if you don't care about disabling the AC bands.
I hope that's a really bad joke.
nintendo is always a joke lately
>anything but ubiquiti
It's feels like Sup Forums in here
Asus, tp-link or linksys?
supermicro.com
with
Sophos UTM asg(sophos.com
Wait what? You can run Sophos UTM without a live licensing schedule?
I bought the r6700 which was on sale on Amazon for $70 just yesterday
amazon.com
Still needs renewal, free though.
I live in a house with concrete walls
I tried the gayming router meme but it has shit range after 10-12 meters
Am I looking at an enterprise solution?
Ubiquiti you dumbfucks
Ubiquiti is good bang/buck yeah.
Currently operating 8 Ubiquiti EdgeRouters, they can do pretty much anything in a simple setup
I would still run Juniper SRX300 routers if I had the money though
>Juniper
>backdoor central.
How are they even in business still? Their internal codebase was backdoored twice that we know of. And it still has a fuxored random number generator in it even today.
>dat radar return
disgusting
Netgear R7000 like OP, but running Advanced Tomato: advancedtomato.com
Really happy with the performance, although update pipeline has died off REALLY hard in the last month or 3. Hoping it picks back up.
I have the Netgear D7000.
>not XIRRUS or Ruckus
Get the FUCK off my board.
Your image is what I use. Found a cheap used one from goodwill for $7. Been using it for over a year. Very fast compared to the old WRT54G
The device in the post you are replying to is a router, autist.
pic related, i use this thing
That's some low quality CGI.
well sure it is but it is good enough to see what im using
here is a real pic for you of it, not mine because im lazy and dont want to go to my rack and take a picture of it, taken by some russian store i guess
Where can I cop one of these little dudes?
Any negatives to it?
Asus rt-n66u or tp-link archer c7?
If I hide my SSID I'm already pretty much good to go because the fifty neighbors around me with default WEP encryption and "HOME-23B" broadcasts are 90% more likely to be targeted.
It's an AiO network device. AKA a piece of shit.
>PHP from 1997
lmao
Netgear WNR3500L v2 with AdvancedTomato, I know its not really that great a router but it works and I got it for free.
Wi-Fi sucks and it will always suck even harder for you because of the walls. Either put an enterprise AP in every room or run cables.
...
>hidden SSIDs
wow, this place is really Sup Forums
In other words, a router. Faggot.
No, faggot. Routers aren't APs, switches, or modems.
See and kys, faggot
seeand kys
I keep hearing advanced tomato. What's so great about it? How does make a router better apart from the UI?
Surprised there isn't a consensus on a good router here. It used to be Asus rtn16(14¿) or something. Now it's just all over the place
Just use dd-wrt
Yep. I have 3 of them in my house I got off ebay for cheap. They literally just work. A1408 is the model to get.
Why? I read somewhere that it could also slowdown a router.
I'm using mikrotik RB951G-2HND and I have to say it works really well but good luck trying to figure shit out with all the outdated garbage tutorials. Trying to fucking port-forward is impossible for me for some fucking reason
WTF are you talking about?
its pretty easy
icafemenu.com
use this tutorial and use winbox, if you cant it with this tutorial + winbox you truly are retarded beyond saving, sorry
literally googled "mikrotik port forwarding" and found it right away, this is pretty much the same i do so i guarantee it works
I think the only thing I MAYBE missing is the interface gateway. That may work everything else I've already done. What was happening is instead of opening the ports it would close them. I couldn't use the fucking port I was trying to open.
Good old netgear wndrmac.
pfsense on a 40 dollar intel atom board i got off craigslist
>I just bought pic related. Is it any good?
pfSense and one of my old 3770K machines.
Does nobody actually own the weapon to surpass Metal Gear?
Seems beastly. How does it perform?
>Not using Pro Gaming routers
plebs, all of you.
Pretty great, sadly it's overkill for my personal network the CPU usage never goes above 10%.
Even with all the firewall rules and traffic shaping.
...
What the fuck does this even mean?
firewall blocks it
