How to create a unique/successful minimalist watchbrand

imgur.com/a/6CNO8

Thoughts on this Railmaster?

It uses a 3205 cal, automatic column wheel chronograph based on the Piguet 1285

I love the railmaster style, but don't want cuck axial and don't have 10grand for a vintage ck2914

I am looking for a good chrono at some point and while I am pretty set on an El Primero I feel this could be easier on my wallet

Shit pic, so here's some overblown render

If the el primero is what you truly want just save up.

All the el primeros that pop up are fucking hideous defys or some nasty plated gold.
The pic you posted and this are what I'd go for.

I also find it hard it hard to justify more than a month's salary on a watch

...

When will we see a watch made on Openmovement?

Are you a grill

no but a guy with tiny wrists
also i got the wristband in black

what?

Their website still projects 2018 before the first prototype gets cased.

I don't get it. Looks like hipster faggotry

Citizen just dropped automatic divers

How does the dad phenomenon work? I thought it was a meme that dads like shitty busy dials and companies made them for that demographic and then just yesterday my father told me about brietlings he saw at the jewlers

They didn't really have any left anyway, apart from one ugly one I believe.

Still why does Citizen hate their own Miyota 9015 so much?

Baby boomers.

Complicated must mean it's good
Expensive must mean it's good

>Dress Chronographs

For what purpose?

Oh, and heavy. Heavy must mean it's good

For timing how long it takes your butler to bring your caviar at your formal party.

How can I get my hands on pic related in UK? Is eBay my only hope short of going to Japan?

Disgusting

Not looking like gaudy, tasteless shit?

How does Sup Forums feel about solar watches? I've been wearing my Seiko solar for a few months and I've been enjoying it.

It's hard to have an opinion on something with so little importance. IF it keeps your watch going, then great...

Do you actually like aliens and want a piece of movie history or do you want it because it's a meme watch?

Did Seiko stop making quartz chronos with a 1/10 or 1/5th of a second sub dial?

I have only seen them on vintage models. And browsing their most expensive quartz chrono line up they don't seem to have any that can time in increments smaller than 1 second.

mecaquartz are 1/5th on the main chrono hand i think

The solar power on my GW-5000 is kind of annoying, because I don't wear it all that often and have to keep it by the window or it runs down.

I guess I could turn off the beep and the atomic sync, but I use it to set everything else and then what would be the point of it? Still less of a pain in the ass than an automatic winder, I guess.

I've been wearing my new cal 1230 for two days and thoroughly recommend it.

I'd agree with you there. It's a real pain when I decided to wear my Seiko 5 once or twice a week and have to wind it back up and set the time and date.

Is this the replacement of the 1/5th subdial? Because honestly I prefer that to a main hand that records the increments.

These are the best Zeniths too imo

this is correct.

no idea what you're talking about. post a pic.

Cleaned it up a bit - case still has a little grime to get off. And is of course still really grossly polished - will need somebody to at least get the whole case to a consistent finish.

Both. This watch seems to have jumped from the £350RRP to like £500 already...

Disgusting polish.
That's an electrical or quartz?

It's a 720hz tuning fork (same as the op pic)

7t92 has a 1/20 second subdial, the SSC line all tick at 1/5 second intervals like the mechaquartz 6t63 as far as I know too.

What watch is she wearing?

Hey guys, I saw this grand seiko model down at my local boutique, going for 2800usd.

Its the SBGR087. There doesnt seem to be a lot of information about it online, except that it uses the 9R65 movement.

Is it an older model? I like the look of it and it fits my skinny wrists.

My dad wore a seamaster for 30 years from the 80s he bought brand new.

Then he got a oyster perpetual but it fucked out so he wears some cheap tissot now while he looks for something new

Tldr: #notalldads

Come at me bruv

kanker

Don't come that hard

My dad wears a 90s Tag F1 chrono, it was given to him by the McLaren formula 1 team.

that's a lot of coin brother! perhaps buy something you love rather than like.

Spring Drive or death, brother

Enjoy you maintenance costs.

I don't know shit about it that model in particular, but great movement and dial.

>what?
Basically an open source watch movement. It is not fast moving but still, I had hoped a watch would be on the horizon soon.

openmovement.org/?lang=en

What;s the point of this when you can buy "closed" movements off the internet and put them in watches?

An "open source" physical object makes no sense.

Good luck trying to get parts for an ETA movement lately.

Memeing about ETA shitters is getting old. We need something new to shit on

I just went on ebay and there are ETA movements for sale.

Unless Seiko discontinues the NH35 I think we're ok for movements.

>ETA stops selling to non swatch
>Swiss ETA shitter companies forced to use Seiko movements

Oh please let it happen it would be funny as fuck.

Does the t in those "eta" movements stand for Tianjin?

sellita is still a thing

Don't they just make ETA clones?

exactly, so the shitters would use that instead of having to change everything over to seiko

Why? What's going on?

>6R15 movement in one of my watches is less accurate than the NH35 movement in one of my other watches.

Reee I thought 6R15 was the superior movement? It's losing 5 seconds a day. Should I get it regulated?

>not getting it done during a holiday to Japan
It's okay mate, you stick to your Snk809s :)

the accuracy manufacturers give is a worst case scenario. you can get a 7s26 that happens to run +-0s/d, that doesn't make it a better movement than a -1/+5 8R.

what the actual fuck

My garish gold-plated Seiko 5 ran at -0/+1 sec/day for months when I first got it. Now it's usually between +2 and +4. I am still pleasantly surprised by it.

you got lucky.

Very lucky indeed!

Do you take your watch off when having sex?

I dont, I use the chrono to see how long I last,

Vostok

Ah, so that's why you wanted a 1/5 sec subdial.

Is that a piezoelectric motor?

Absolute mad man

...

It's a tuning fork that shakes a sealed box with a magnetic wheel inside (the one you see in the video with four holes). The magnetic wheel then regulates the gear train.

This might be your best chance but it's probably gonna get up in the 400s...

The movement is excellent. Much better chronograph than the speedy pro (solid pusher feel, no seconds-hand jump. Good power reserve.

But way too fat for your wrist.

Although FYI buyer beware and no returns accepted for this seller

Uhh, returns are accepted and that's not this seller...
What do you mean?

Derp I'm dumb sorry.

>No returns policy

Literally illegal in Europe

The ETAs are basically 1950's technology. Things have moved on since then. Just not ETA. So a movement that is in on the times is what is needed.

That's why we have seiko.

Sorry I don't get the point of an "open source" movement. Open source code is good when you're creating a program but how can a movement be open source?

What you guys think of my collection? I know nixon is cancer but I like the look of this one a lot.

not for auctions

have you not seen shit like the open source phone, open source laptop, open source graphics card?
they're all pieces of shit that either never came out at a consumer level or just never became a reality. and when they did, they were complete garbage.
open source hardware is retarded. the only thing that makes sense for "open source" physical stuff is sharing models for 3d printing.

>nixon
>like the look
see the first reply of this thread
anyway your collection sucks, you only have bad watches.

Depends:
1) if you didn't buy the product you wanted
2) if the product was damaged in a way that was not in the description
3) if its a fake of what you thought you were buying.

Then yes there is a European law you can return it.

Did I do okay on my first watch wtg?

Distance selling regs say I can return anything 30 days after purchase just because I've changed my mind.

The worst part about being into watches is never-ending shit like this on my facebook feed. There's some new piece of shit coming out every couple of weeks it seems.

Umm, like this you mean?
