Because I'm running the best Linux distribution
The CD I ordered from OSdiscs hasn't arrived yet
I'm not a computer wizard so I'm using this eye-candy distro.
but I am using it
back in the day ubotu used to mail out free disks
>still have i386 & x86_64 ubuntu 7 install disks somewhere
because battery time is shit
Pasting from another thread
>Tbh fedora supported my GPU much better than any debian based distro. I'm using a 1366x768 TV as a monitor on my 2nd PC and it supports 1600x900 on windows and fedora gnome out of the box. Trying to add the resolution on any other distro shows errors on boot and I have to re apply the resolution.
There is no good linux distribution
is that a question? since it's obviously a kernel version thing.
I enjoy hitting the top left of my screen and seeing all my open windows.
Fedora for life
I do. I use Lubuntu. Super stable, and just works.
>Arch has always been a simple distribution in terms of the developer perspective, not the user one.
>It has never been a minimalist distribution. Splitting packages is rare compared to other distributions, and dependencies aren't made optional whenever possible.
>It has also never been a distribution offering much user freedom / choice compared to Gentoo and even Debian.
>Arch is the *opposite* of a user-centric freedom.
lists.archlinux.org
simple for devs means simple for users now.
thank linus for that.
Yeah so much has change since 2015. Run along now arch toddler.
being the only one insulting doesn't help your case.
>Normal *nix User
Fedora, Debian, OpenBSD, FreeBSD
>*nix user with a niche need
Anything else
>OH GOD HOW DO I COMPUTER, I AM TOO STUPID TO KNOW HOW ANYTHING WORKS.
Ubuntu
>Novice Computer User
Mint
>Living Meme
Arch
>simple for devs means simple for users
lolwat, no it doesn't. Simple for devs means shit user experience. Proof: Arch.
The only reason kids use arch is because they think it increases their epeen. They're wrong obviously.
>OH GOD HOW DO I COMPUTER, I AM TOO STUPID TO KNOW HOW ANYTHING WORKS.
>Ubuntu
>Novice Computer User
>Mint
kek, he thinks ubuntu is easier than fedora/debian/memeBSD/mint
It's way past your bedtime lad.
It means they don't develop crazyass custom solutions like debian and ubuntu, which makes troubleshooting easy. you (and I hope other people so it's not just one dedicated shitposter in every thread) fell for a shitposting meme pretty hard.
I'm using something slightly better, UbuntuGnome.
Mint and Ubuntu are easy, but Ubuntu's userbase rightfully gets shit on as they unironically tolerate the bullshit canonical pulls. That and the "MUH GAMES" crowd.
>they don't develop solutions
Agreed
I just use 16.04 LTS and jump every 2 years
discuss
because they don't have to, they make sure the packages don't conflict and thanks to linux software devs being not shit it just werks.
I'm using 16.04. It's pretty cool. I'm new to linux though and I'm not quite sure how to change some things. I think I want a new DE? I can't stand how there's a gray menu bar at the top of the desktop that doesn't hide and can't be removed. What do?
>sudo apt install xfce4
>log out
>check xfce session instead of unity
>log in
>???
>profit
But I am running both of the best
Thanks user.
I do have mint installed comrade
Because I use superior Windows 7. Now that Wikileaks revealed that every OS is a botnet there's no reason to use Linux anymore for your everyday life.
Paper icon pack?
Numix, yeah.
What job do you have that you need all of the jetbrains software? Or did you just pirate them for fun?
Being the only one with a point does
I'm a student so I get the licences for free yearly. IDEA and PyCharm are the community editions though.
I'll tell you when I see him then.
Are all arch toddlers too braindead to form comprehensible sentences?
are shitposters ever going to find new content?
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you are referring to the best Linux Distribution is actually bloat+botnet or bloatnet as I recently been calling it.
Please use your brain and install a sane distro like Void Linux or Alpine Linux.
>quoting an arch maintainer is shitposting
Just admit you use the Dunning-Kruger distro.
no, the insults and images are shitposting. the way to read the quote is debatable. pity that debate has been so one-sided this thread.
Maybe it wouldn't be one-sided if your argument wasn't "waaaa he called me a toddler"
How old is the Ubuntu kernel?
>implying this shit based on Debian is actually better than Debian
lmao
I love it when you start ignoring previous arguments, it lets me know that I'm winning.
pretty old. they freeze it when they release it, so 16.4 is probably from mid-'16.
16.04 literally means April 2016
I already addressed your argument from here
with You get btfo by the other guy too. Time to give up.
Enjoy choosing between old packages or untested packages.
By that reasoning shouldn't you be using Windows 10™?
>Because I'm running the best Linux distribution
this
the argument stopped here
the link to your post was a non-argument insult.
Ubuntu = Debian + Bloat and Amazon spyware
I don't understand the point, it's not like installing Debian [test] is like compiling Gentoo
you mean gnome shell for live.
But I already am running slackware.

You were simply too wrong to even bother. But since you don't seem to think so tell me what has changed since 2015? What has Linus (The kernel maintainer) done to make everything "just werk".
Your other "argument" is wrong as well. Splitting packages doesn't cause conflicts. I have no idea why you would think so. It simply makes the maintainers job easier at the expensive of the users system. That's pretty much what arch is. Its why you only encounter things like archlinux.org
i am silly
Most signs I've seen point to the switch to not overwriting configs being the big thing. But whatever the reason is, since around 2015 it has not broken for anyone who wasn't actively trying to change deathly critical things without knowing what they were doing.
I do........Lubuntu is the best.
>since around 2015
I literally just linked a post from this month showing an upgrade breaking a package.
You misspelled Xubuntu
The troubleshooting for problems after setup amounts to just that, checking the news and following simple instructions. Far superior to failing outright with no recourse like has been known to happen to Ubuntu.
That's inherent to Gnome.
I should add, the problem you referenced, along with all others, is required to be fixed before any packages are changed. It's literally impossible to break it with that.
This is why we need Wayland.
No xfce is dogshit
Nope, simply doesn't happen in Ubuntu. Its the most deployed server and desktop distribution for a reason. Arch does not come close to it in terms of stability.
>Amazon spyware
wintoddler pls
>implying lxde is not
Do I need to make a meme to make myself believed? It worked for you. Server and Desktop releases are very different. Ubuntu has a much worse history of bugs, like making outright bricks.
Ubuntu does update its kernel even in lts versions.
Yes that is what I am implying.
>Ubuntu has a history of making outright bricks
Examples?
Haha you're a complete joke. I've linked official news and quoted an arch maintainer. Meanwhile "Ubuntu is bad. Source: me". Enjoy your shitty distro along with its bloated packages.
...
Well user you see this guy on Ubuntu forums said an update broke his system. Good enough for you?
Says (You)...........pls
...
because i'm running a superior desktop os: windows
do you ever run into problems near the end of the two year cycle of having old as fuck packages? staying on lts seems comfy
...
Currently running KDE Neon which is based on ubuntu LTS, is basically ubuntu + a repo that keeps updated kde software. The 16.04 is a pretty solid base.
>2017
>Not using Pony OS. Kernels are magic
stay pleb Sup Forums
even with TLP?
Go kys.
hdd spindown time doesn't effect how heavy the DE is.
but what am I saying I'll see you next thread
>But in any case, our best firmware people have already concluded there's nothing we can reasonably do here and the firmware just needs to get fixed.
In other words, samsung fucked up, any other examples?
Since I only use my computer for internet I just use tails
h-online.com
Not an Ubuntu bug. Try again.
...
Not him, but you do run into problems. E.g. the currently shipped version of valgrind in Ubuntu 16.04 doesn't work on newer intel CPUs when using some specific random number generator from stl.
>there's nothing we can reasonably do here
>they blamed other people for a bug that only happened on Ubuntu
nah
Wrong
you have a hard time reading don't you?
...
I just realized you've moved the goalposts across the field.
>Archlinux is shit!
>no
>Yes, here!
>that's not a problem, ubuntu has worse
>OK but that isn't a problem either! Archlinux is still shit!
Fuck off
