>What is cyberpunk? Cyberpunk is a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.
>What is cyberpunk? Cyberpunk is a genre that was supposed to be science fiction. It featured oppressive governments and corporations that had reckless disregard for the health and privacy of average people. It also featured cyber attacks that could render networks useless, personal information stolen, and actual physical damage to infrastructure and facilities. Since all of these features are present in today's society, it is no longer science fiction but rather the daily norm of living. Most people do not realize they are living in this society, and use technology to watch porn, look up sports scores, or post selfies of themselves.
There we go, a better definition of cyberpunk.

Enjoy completely that Google captcha so you could reply to me?

Communicating nonsense is the best deterent.
Daniel Stewart
Eh, without manually selecting your choice of 'public' data you're not particularly secure either. Airgap != secure transport, just alone. Choosing for other people is bad, not choosing at all is bad. Knowing and making an informed decision is patrician shit.
Wyatt Martin
w2c those nixies?
Xavier Rivera
can i deliberately fuck up my SCART-cable to my CRT-monitor to have a cool distorted effect?
Brody Lewis
w2c? I'm not hip to the lingo.
I mean, that's a gold hat cool cat. Oak nuggins.
Juan James
I have a Sup Forums pass tho
Evan Sullivan
SCART is analog so that's possible. Though if you fuck with sync signaling you may disrupt the picture altogether.
Blake Myers
>convert audio to a video representation and pull through video filters to then convert back to audio for playback >most of the time this only increases noise in the final audio, no matter what video filter is used
What can you suggest guys?
Ryan Moore
then the question is if Sup Forums is in the botnet or not
Jonathan Peterson
>>What is cyberpunk? >Cyberpunk is a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology. That sort of implies that an artificial intelligence program like skynet is a requirement for a story to be cyberpunk. I think it'd be more accurate to say dominated with technology they don't specifically get dominated by the computers, or use the computers themselves to dominate..
Luis Robinson
I probably should of quoted this guyhe gets it.
Aaron Price
is the tox still up?
Angel James
not sure, but the city is toronto.

//op here i don't know if foxy's around, but just in case anyone else cares i was gonna merge the "Dead" Links paste to the organized links one, since it only lists like 4 sites, so the pasta could be a little more concise looking
James Rogers
>merge the "Dead" Links paste to the organized links one So what, do I just move the links to the organized paste, and delete the old one? Or keep the old one, but omit it from the pasta?
Also, I updated the "How To Into Cyb" paste with a bunch of /cyb/ anime from last thread pastebin.com/PPueAapP

where to cop(buy) the blue ones? Or is the image edited? I got some but they're only scientific notation (Farad, omega, Hertz, etc) :(
Like they have the μ and the Ω? That's pretty sweet.
Ian Murphy
bumping this
Nathaniel Rodriguez
Yeah. I want numbers though!
Nathaniel Lopez
It isn't quite quite /cyb/ in the traditional sense, but what do you guys think of Blame! ?
Levi Ramirez
These are IV-7/5s. These are dirt cheap on ebay. They do sell the nixie tubes with some scientific indicators (Hz, ohm, micro, etc).
Those in are IV-22's. You can get them for
Ryder Howard
Oops! Pic related.
Gabriel Watson
Thanks! What voltage do they require?
Xavier Flores
Both require up to 30V to the grid and 30 volt to the digit they are displaying. They also require 1.5V for the heater coil.
I use 24V on the IV-22s and 15V on the IV-7/5
Kayden Flores
Thank's. They're not nixie though? or?
Aaron Miller
I have a few of those vfds that I need to figure out the pinout for, since apparently futaba doesn't publish datasheets.
Charles Diaz
Technically not no. They're vacuum fluorescent tubes rather than neon gas tubes. They also take a far lower voltage than traditional nixies. They have a few other differences but you get the picture.
Now style, look, and layout wise they were pretty much modeled after nixies 100%.
Which one? The IV-5/7? I think I have the data sheet or at least can find it. They have a lot of inactive pins.
James Davis
Would love some proper nixies though, like a wolfram glowing wire. Got a model number for that?
Julian Watson
IN-19. There's A, B, and V
Try IN-15 as well. There's multiple versions but not sure how many. All these should be available on ebay for next to nothing.
Easton Thomas
Oh wait, you're probably looking for the regular number ones. IV-12A's are dirt cheap. Seen here
Ayden Diaz
If you haven't read the Marathon/Halo metanarratives as well as the banksian influences on it you are not allowed to have an opinion on AI or the singularity.
Christopher Young
Awesome, thanks. Can't be THAT hard making my own "driver" ? Just a MCU and a couple of high voltage transistors?
Dylan Hall
You don't need to make your own driver. Mother Russia sells those cheap on ebay, or you can get the more modern version which the model escapes me.
You sound like those dogmatic posters on /r/futurology that repeat their meme narratives over and over again that they might as well be a bot as a script has artificially proved it's intelligence in a turing test better in conversation by default if it gets programmed to say something new.
Austin Murphy
Post your battlestation, /cyb/!
Bonus points for schway looks

You'd better be. I could be an AI. I could be in your system.

probably should've specified that i was merging them on my fork, sry//
Hopefully you're not Cortana in Windows 10, or else I'd slap that ass.

Ninja Scroll isn't actually cyberpunk, it's actual old fashioned ninjas.
Jordan Powell
Yeah, that whole list was from another user. I can remove it.

Okay first off I am drunk on beer >been reading pkd >halfway through Divine Invasion >now reading the exegesis
Everybody knows shit is fucked
Shadow run is never gonna happen {not talking about the fairy/gnome stuff } Either we as in we the peoples {yes peoples is a word look it up} come together or we are forces to come together.
What is together? >What I see now is: Tribals {still global but local organized } Or Globalism as the fucked version Or """""""SPIRITUAL"""""""
Last one is gud, though harsh, but not as harsh as the second and the first just resets us to prevent WO1 only we don't need to invent the weapons.
Now >Spiritual is not any religion {Though Buddhism as philosophy comes close, tao also, perhaps even more} Our shit is fucked because of 'us and them' ie the churches sheit and similar things in the other religions {the desert ones are the worst though Hinduism and paganism have their darksides }
The science thingie is gud but people are using it as arguments for nonrelated stuff.
C and Java {comprehension of both} also asembly will lead you to understanding the fuckerups in languages and how it is used.
If it works it works but a look at the source gives away the true intentions.
So Christians, Stop using the bible as a dildos and the church as a gimp mask. For the other religions make up your own metaphore; you all are gud at it.
Gnosis is what to strife for.

The world perceived through the TV/Internet{yes I dare say 'news'papers} [it's 'reality' perceived through others send out through digital signals to BE perceived through you, it's a hooker prepped for you while presenting itself as a random romance stranger; honeypot ]. >It's fake
Also I'm on beer
But really to cum {hahahahahaha} back to the point [more Freudian laughter]: It's about what you do {from your knowlegde} not what {they} they say you need to do in a specific situation. That is hardcoding bullshit WOW inventory stylo.
Listen to your heart, gut, every limb like the Greeks perceived mind and beyond. {Watch westward they tackle or try to that problem, I dunno they word for it atm because beer and English is nicht miene native taal, neither is german}
The voices are NOT in your head it's the shit you see on TV/Internet/other media you consume. Find your own path and be kinda like the western Budha about it or Jesus if that's your gig, even scandanivian satanisme is more close to reality than those media.
I'm on to you because you are me only we both are fucked up twisted, no homo bc I'm a lesbian.

Kayden Brown
That's a lot of word salad but you had me at lesbian.
I don't know why I have a fetish for that
Kind of nice to see someone else distrusts the mainstream media. After following it for a while I've noticed a cycle of about 1 or 2 years before people develop amnesia and then within 5-10 years practically have no recognition about events but they believe the propaganda around it. It's almost kind of laughable how it repeats, like during the last administration Obama practically called fox fake news, and the stuff Trump said about the media being unhealthy away from the perceived standard people expect of it the same people that would of been too eager to agree with him a few years ago act like it's a bad thing now. Mainstream media is fucking ridiculous it's all about views to push marketing, it's like when they reported eggman was a school shooter, that was fake news. They don't give a shit as long as they're first to report facts if it is even a fact or not. That probably really helped fuck up that guys life too. No ethics in journalism anymore.
Liam Davis
>Kind of nice to see someone else distrusts the mainstream media I thought it was like an established thing that no one trusts it.
Luis Sullivan
Yeah it's early morning here and I stated all the time the beer
>go night/morning to you all
Gonna try to be more comprehensive next time, or this time if the thread is still up when I'm sober.
>if my ramblings do not belong in this thread let me know I get paid by the yous {yes you did read jews, but no, if you didn't read jew you are also fine or more so} also that was all a joke, the getting paid, paying is something material :^)
But, yes a but, cyber (punk) goes beyond g and their memes. [Do appreciate ya]
>wikileaks may be the tip of the spear {shut up Freud} >IT is a marketing scam
That's it if you wanna know more maybe I get a trip code next thread or see above. Prolly just M~ out P.S. search for yourself == better than following a semi-signed tripfags or tripfags at all
Jason Perez
well, mods on neo-Sup Forums have pretty much given up so you don't have to worry
This is less inane than typical consumertard brandfan posting so I like it
Adrian Johnson
>both posts deleted Mods are full shitlib gestapo around here. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, given the thread theme.
Jose Scott
to be fair this is one of the most pleasant remnants of Sup Forums as a topic (in;b4 it's total shit, which it is)
why not shit up a more cancerous "general"
Parker Green
Yeah well censoring shit is exactly how you build trust in mainstream media. Gookmoot's probly leasing it out to the NSA as we speak.
Mason Butler
Hell, I'll probably catch a ban for mentioning it. Oh well. I've taken plenty of 3 day time outs.
Parker Davis
It's barely even a punishment anymore >You broke the rules, go to a certain specific place that's much much better than this.
Hunter Miller
Being banned is a release Let's all welcome it
I remember when you could get autobanned with a simple keyword
Imagine if this website shut down for a few months and all the normals forgot about it. The shit would float back to the surface web and disperse. Peak traffic has really done its number
Jason Green
Anybody ever read Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan? It's a pretty good action cyberpunk read. Trashy sci-fi, but it's got a lot of charm. If you read it and like it, the sequel is fine but don't read the third book in the trilogy. He completely shits the bed halfway through so badly that it retroactively ruined my experience of the first two. it's that bad.
Kevin Gray
I deleted it. I dislike talking about politics. Whenever I notice I slip and talk about it it just reminds me I should be doing something productive toward trying to improve my own personal situation instead of talking.
Ayden Kelly
Ever read any of the stoics? I'm rereading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations now. Great book, short too, only 80 pages.
Jordan Sanders
I can appreciate that sentiment. It's pretty funny how riled up everyone got, though//
Jack Jackson
A little. Good times. No. I have a distaste for philosophers Although I started reading Xenophons Anabaptist a while back. I mostly read about machinery/electronics/weaponry/computers/programming/scifi. Just finished The Peripheral by Gibson was a bit surprised that it had a mention of Mozart in Mirrorshades I use to see that book recommended a lot about a decade ago but have only ever seen one copy in person not sure if it's my type of read though I generally dislike time travel concepts because it seems unrealistic and is typically just a fucky dues ex machina in the story to save the day. Rather enjoyed the Peripheral although I had a minor existential crisis thinking about things toward the end.
FYI, Burroughs is the godfather of cyberpunk and semiotext(e) USA13 the document. gibson fucking wishes his lit was 1/10th as cyb as the nova trilogy. if you know then you know
ket or go home
Ian Nelson
remove area 88 and interstellar 5555 too. they were holdovers from a different iteration of the list
also add Midnight Eye Goku Angel Cop Neotokyo Memories Robot Carnival Roujin Z Robot Drive Appleseed Battle Angel Dirty Pair Parasite Dolls Domionion Mardock Scramble koukaku no Pandora
once again, fuck Dennou coil. but also fuck tekkonkinkreet - not that the manga isnt good though its still not cyberpunk
and hiroki azuma's otaku: database animals is required reading. anime as a whole is inherently cyberpunk. possibly 'tokyo cyberpunk' anthology too, decent introduction. d&g are what cyb theory is. cyberpunk doesnt just stop at pulp fiction and glitch art.
youtube.com/watch?v=4cG4ZXxEhOI also fuck off right back to r/cyberpunk if you think 'aesthetically cyberpunk' shit like retrowave kitsch is cyb. synthstuff is cool and has the cyb feeling but forward facing music can actually explore cyberpunk themes. 90s jungle/hardcore (eg praxis label) was drenched in cyberpunk conceptually. sampling, alien distortions, digital rhythm, information conveyance, etc. kode9 wrote some shit on it
How could I make my apartment have a little more cyberpunk feeling to it but not to be too messy or anything like that?
Now my aparment is all black and white with very little color and everything is well organized and I want to keep it that way but I would love a little touch of the future we never got.
Ian Mitchell
no
Ian Sanders
you can buy with bitcoin, no?
it should be reasonably secure

led backlighting, smart appliances, automatic led strips in cupboards, etc.
I also like the way casey neistat has cameras pointing from basically every possible point of entrance to his studio mapped to televisions
Cameron Adams
Make all your computer programs terminal-based, or at least have a dark theme.
Add a filter on your apartment windows (if you have any) to make it slightly darker.
Make sure any widgets you have in your room (like clocks and stuff) have terminal-like displays. Black background, lime/cyan/white text, bitmap & monospace font. Digital clocks work well.
Get a noisy air conditioner, but make sure that the noise is a soft "hummm" sound rather than a "rrrrrrrrrrr" sound that my AC has.
Jordan Clark
have the news going 24/7 so you can stay cynical
Luis Gray
choose appliances carefully, get as much analog hardware (not just computers - radios, TVs etc) as possible and acquire a lot of screens. install BSD. it's not about dark css and blue LEDs. my electric kettle is more cyb than 90% of your fags battlestations
Isaiah Myers
Any cyberpunk streams? People building/programming/drawing cool shit, or playing /cyb/ games? Thanks!
