I remember the response from the design community at the time of it's announcement.
The day before when Microsoft announced the Surface Studio it was met with lots of praise and interest, people seemed to love the display and the idea of the pressure sensitive stylus. Finally someone has come to compete with Wacom and people were interested.
The next day Apple announced the Macbook Pro with Touch Bar and people were really skeptical, most thought it was a gimmick, some made jokes about it, and others thought it would be great after developers jumped on the bandwagon. Either way, there were many tweets where people said that "Microsoft won" and some people even said they were considering upgrading to a Surface Book instead.
MacOS is still the standard here, and it probably still will be unless Apple continues to screw up hard and Microsoft makes their products and software more friendly to designers and developers.
