Are IPS monitors really that better than TN? Is 4K a meme? Which monitors aren't compromised by the CIA?

I can't decide on a new monitor. IPS doesn't impress me anymore. I calibrated my TN panel and it looks fine.
NOT ANOTHER FUCKING 'GENERAL'
I wanna get me a 40inch 4k
Hello friends. I am looking to buy a monitor. Ideally would have the following:
>27"
>4K
>IPS
>60hz is fine
Dell.
is dell worth the extra cost? from what I see, the dell is like $150-200 more than other brands
the lg is fine
lol at 60hz being fine
AOC 4k 60hz 28" monitor
newegg.com
Thinking about picking it up myself.
That's the one I'm considering too. Looks too good to be true for this price
the problem is you need at least a gtx 1080 to play in 4k decently. That's $900 for a gpu and monitor. Not only that but you still won't be able to play at the FPS you want for many years to come. Granted you will have a 4k monitor already when GPUs are capable of playing at that resolution easily. It's really a toss up. I posted it because I am considering it but then I am also weighing if I want to risk unplayable FPS in many games vs cost vs playable FPS at 1440p with even just a GTX 1070.
It's a hard choice to make. Either get the 1440p monitor now with at least a GTX 1070 or get the 4k monitor now with the GTX 1080 and for sure still need to upgrade because your FPS won't be what you want.
i thought this was a satirical post...maybe it is?
144hz>4k
I want a nice 1080p monitor, any suggestions?
I'm willing to spend 250$
No, it was a serious post. I am not a gamer so why does 60hz matter.
>comparing refresh rates with resolution
well done Sup Forums
new low
keep going
fuck this shit
>implying its not comparable when you have to either get 144hz or 4k or spend a fuckton of money to get both
hope youre having fun with >90 iq friend
aoc
27ud68-w/p/b is the only answer. though i would personally wait for 4k 2017 monitors to come out, samsung just released a 4k, 32 inch IPS monitor with HDR support for $1000. gotta wait for competition for prices to go down but man that sounds like the most ideal 4k monitor.
why not both? you can own a 4k monitor and a 1080/144hz monitor, best of both worlds.
>why not both? you can own a 4k monitor and a 1080/144hz monitor, best of both worlds.
tfw poor plebian who can only afford 1
4k is pretty good if you get a 32" screen. I got one of these a few days ago and it's incredible to look at. Though, obviously it's not really for gaymen if that's what you're into.
How did this trigger you?
Its simple, if you don't have a lot of money to spend on a monitor, you can go for a lower res monitor with a higher refresh rate or a higher res monitor
am I wanting too much?
> >27" &&
You know that you don't have to run the games at 4k all the time, right?
Dell's monitor aesthetics are so fucking strong, it's a shame about the price.
It feels like shit and jumps a lot
I have a Dell U2515H 1440p IPS monitor, very happy with it.
>IPS
>1440p
>small bezels
>beautiful looks
what is the perfect monitor size to use in a dual configuration?
Can vouch for this. Bought three of them. Two in pic, one not shown.
fucking autist.
As soon as I switched to 4k EVERYFUCKINGTHING INSTANTLY looked like SHIT next to it
Is there even a reason NOT to get a CRT?
At the moment you can get 1440p@144Hz or 4k@60Hz. This is likely going to remain the case, as there are only rumours that a 4K@144Hz screen may launch in the middle of 2017. So if you are getting the "best" screen, you have to make a choice: 4K(@60Hz), or (1440p@)144Hz?
What's a good monitor with the following specs:
IPS (is oled too expensive?)
At minimum 1440p
30" - 34"
At minimum 120hz
Optional: usb connectors for peripherials and sdcard reader
I currently own a Dell u3011 and one of those Asus 27" 1440p 60hz ips models, I'm thinking of building another pc
All the 1440p@144Hz are currently 27".
If you lower your reqs to 100Hz, you can try the Acer X34 or ASUS PG348Q
can you even work at 4k without cranking up font sizes?
In your opinion, is 144Hz worth it? I do mostly work that requires screen real state so I'm reconsidering picking screen real estate over higher refresh rates, the only thing I'd miss is playing quake-like games with better refresh rates.
Are there other good displays with higher res than 1440p? It's ok if they don't have gaymen refresh rates.
How's your site doing, btw? Maybe I should have checked it first instead of wasting your time
Hey guys I need a new monitor. Has to have :
>4k
>hdr
>16:10
>gsync
>only 15 inches though
>Maybe I should have checked it first instead of wasting your time
Gaming screens are updated, standard screens are not, unfortunately. It is my fault, I am sorry.
>In your opinion, is 144Hz worth it?
I have multiple 1440p screens, one 144Hz, and the others 60Hz. There was a spell where I played games using the 144Hz screen exclusively for a few weeks. When I went back to the 60Hz for a game, it had such a different feel that I stopped the game, checked settings, restarted the PC... before I remembered that the screen was 60Hz. It is very similar to being used to SSD speeds, then going back to HDD.
But also: Having to use 1080p screens once in a while, I laugh when I can clearly see the pixels, thinking "back to the stone age!". You will probably feel the same if you are used to 4K, and have to use 1440p once in a while.
tl;dr Mostly gaming? 144Hz is too good to pass up. Not gaming? 4K is the master race, no question.
>Are there other good displays with higher res than 1440p? It's ok if they don't have gaymen refresh rates.
Plenty. 4K is (relatively) cheap now, easily in the $500-800 range.
oh sure senpai lemme just research shit for you
fuck off and google things yourself you absolute mongoloid
I want to get a new monitor, but can't seem to find one i like.
I was thinking of getting the LG 27UD88-W but they don't make a Black only version, and i can't stand the grey bezel and white back. If they made a black version of this monitor i would probably get it for the time being.
Has to have:
>All black
>27"
>4K or 5K
>USB-C
>IPS
>5ms response time
>60Hz
>HDR10 (would be nice to have)
newegg.com
No USB-C though.
I also was considered that one for the time being until someone released something i like but i doesn't have height adjustment or pivot.
But i'll probably end up getting that one and use a VESA mount, and resell it later.
Will we get 1440P HDR monitors or is it only a 4K monitor meme
why buy a non OLED.
>burn in
bump
>He doesnt have $5k to drop on a new display every year.
What are you, poor?
4K at 27 inches is overkill. You'd be better off buying a WQHD monitor at that size. Consider 32-36 inches for 4K instead.
>when you chose to get monitor delivered instead of doing store pickup and checking on the spot
Literally kill me now
>buy LG 22mp55 because everyone memes it as the best bang for buck IPS
>blacks look absolutely horrendous
>can't turn the brightness low enough for it to not bother me when falling asleep.
How can this be okay in 2017?
>Are IPS monitors really that better than TN?
Yes
>Is 4K a meme?
Yes
>Which monitors aren't compromised by the CIA?
Yes
>Discuss all this in more in today's Monitor General.
No
At 32", you really don't even need scaling.
Do people have any pivot screen recommendations (with non shit looking stands)?
