Never giving mine up

ps2 was the last console I owned. I was able to overcome my jewishness because at the time I didn't own a DVD player. Time goes so fast, watch out guys

IMO the beauty of the original console is still unmatched.

I still have my fat ps2 that I keep because it can run free mcboot, but the slimline version was very aesthetic too.

>plastic toy console
>"aesthetic"
lel

I stopped at ps2 as well. Video games no longer hold my interest, but I like to load up classics here and there.

I also stopped at core2duo and my car is from 2004. I'm stuck in the past.

They just ripped off and unreleased Atari computer.

I unironically believe that the Slim PS2 is the most aesthetic consumer electronic ever made. Still got mine and it still runs like a champ too.

still a beatiful console

>ripped off
>when they bought the design before atari went under

As long as you have a version with an internal power supply. The power brick versions were lame and defeated the small size.

I wish I could get an old 80s car but the environment tax would kill me

I prefer cars from the 80s and 90s over modern cars but they have too many miles on them nowadays. Not that many left on the road.

>tfw GNU/Linux was officially for a time
What went wrong?

i had a slim and it felt flimsy and cheap and overheated constantly. In order to play DVD's on my slim without the red light blinking and automatically shutting off you had to sorta stack it on top of some dvd cases so it's underbelly was not touching the ground. still, that thing was like 89 dollars when I got it and besides the nigger rigging it still worked for years

Yo I got my ps2 fat with a nice ass crt. Sony on sony and it has a widescreen feature for those certain ps2 games. Shit is dope.

idk I thought they did a pretty good job with the homage.

anyway, why have PS controllers been absolute shit for so long? I haven't tried PS4 controllers, are they any better? always found xbox controllers so much better

>plastic chinese computer
>"aesthetic"
lel

PS4 controller is pretty damn good, earlier models had a problem with weak rubber on analog sticks, but it's since been fixed.
It would have been GOAT controller if they had a clicky d-pad like they had on the Vita, but it's a still great controller.

will there be a super slim ps4?

Ugh guys remember when Nintendo was a gaming console for real men but now it's like Nintendo designs stuff for children!

Totally ruined my childhood nostalgia

The ps1 was looked like a waffle iron. The fat ps3 was a beauty sculpted by god himself

My last console was the Xbox, but I still play it to this day.

Looks like a grill.

I can't believe this video is 10 years old.

>want ps2 bad
>friend went on holiday
>he left his window open
>i jumped in and stole his limited edition silver ps2 slimline

Mfw i didn't speak to him again and he never found out it was me

what games did you steal with it?

same, i use it for playing jpn ddr

and you could run linux on it

there was a recent lawsuit against sony by the people who bought fat ps3s because of the linux feature and were pissed when they took the feature away in an update. I could have got like $40

but i couldnt prove that i had linux installed on my fat ps3 in 2007

Ps2 was pretty low quality and those grooves are dust magnets

>tfw ps2 with fmcb and network loading
doesn't get comfier than this, I'm so glad I never get rid of my old shit and get to pit them to use like this again

And they made it way better than that ugly piece of shit.
>that mismatched FDD bezel

I think you couls run linux on the ps2 too

nigger

Network loading was too much of a pain in the ass to setup so I just keep everything on the hard drive.

Cool story, Tyrone.

>tfw finding out all face buttons are pressure sensitive on the ds2

Mom gave mine away to my nephew.
>tfw you write it as "mom" instead of "Mum" because Americans get confused

>clicky d-pad

Clicky d-pads are cancer, it's a torture to play 2D games with that shit.

The original PS3 was great.
>full PS2 and PS1 backward compatibility
>4 USB
>that metallic bottom edge
>SD/MultiMediaCard, CompactFlash Type I/Type II, Microdrive and Memory Stick/PRO/Duo reader

But they had to cripple it because it was too expensive for normies. Just like the crippled the Vita removing the OLED panel or the PS2 removing the HDD bay.

Why not the slim version of the Playstation 3? You're listing the older model which is very ugly.

That's the ugliest and the cheapest looking PS3 model by far, even worse than the Super Slim model.

>No ps2 shit
>No linux (Maybe, I forget)

It's amazing you think the original PS3 doesn't look cheap. In person, the slim PS3 is quality.

It was mine as well until my mom crushed it with a hammer and threw it in the trash so i couldn't play San Andreas again, after all the trouble i went through by finding a used one for like 30 bucks and having the laser fixed for another 50.
At least i didn't fall for the videogame jew after that...

What's it like to be wrong? Nothing says cheap like glossy plastic.

So I found this image. Does anyone know what that phone is about?

Dunno. Probably used as a modem for online services.

How do you get linux working on PS2?
Is there specific distro for it?

I don't so. Eventually we may see a slim PS4 Pro though.

You need a IDE HDD that is compatible with the PS2, and you need the Linux install CDs. You may also need the VGA adapter or whatever.

If you're interested in seeing it, and learning more about it there are plenty of videos on YouTube.

You can use a SATA to IDE board and a modern SSD

>IDE HDD that is compatible with the PS2
Welp.
I have slim PS2.
I thought I'd use it for something, since it can no longer read DVDs easily.

Don't know about that bud. It can be annoying because it will only work with certain drives.

Don't think you can do it with a Slim. Does it have a ethernet? You may be able to play over the network.

Pirate games? Get a memory card with Free McBoot and load games via network sharing.

>Does it have a ethernet?
Yeah, it does have Ethernet port.
>Get a memory card with Free McBoot
I've tried that, couldn't fine 007 game golden eye, and when I tried to open it there was a welded metal chaise that protected the inner mobo, couldn't even replace the CMOS battery.

Not to mention the swap trick is very difficult, and I doubt it can read DVDs now.

If it has it then you could probably do it.

Coule you modify the chasis or whatever? Maybe remove it.

Could**

>Maybe remove it
Maybe with a steel saw.
Is there any alternatives to 007 game?

it's the best version, you clueless bastard.
no dust / fingerprint magnet surfaces, quiet and robust as fuck and no lolspiderman font across it's matte body.

the super slim is a flimsy, loud piece of shit in comparison.

please stop bastardizing the word aesthetic
its really easy to tell you're underage

Yea try and remove that, and do what you gotta do. Shouldn't be that hard.

Well I am pretty sure you can play any games you want. Play some of the most popular ones. Resident Evil, GTA SA, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, Okami, Silent Hill. If you have a chance please play Okami, it's an amazing game.

Shit sorry for being retarded. Just noticed that wasn't what you were asking. Honestly I don't know because I have never done it. Do a bit of research.
Anyways though you should play what I mentioned if you do get it working.

Nah SEGA had the best looking systems

except it was the original ps3 that got jokes about it looking like a grill
go figure

you can find someone with a FCMB memory card and he can easily copy it over onto your memory card.
I'd do it for you, but I'm in Europe, fuck shipping costs

The only console you need.

>confy
>portable
>fits your pocket
>16 giga
>emulators
>all ps1 library
>nigger proof

worst case, just buy a memory card with freemcboot already on it from ebay

Just buy a Matrix and solder to its motherboard.

why would he do that? the only thing a modchip can do over freemcboot is boot unmodified dvd-r's directly, his dvd drive is worn out
with a modchip, he'd still end up running the same software to get games booting from a network (OPL) as he would with freemcboot

Didn't understand shit of what you typed. Just solder the chip and be happy.

- doesn't fix his problem
- has no advantage over free solution in his case

>confy

Unless you've got baby hands, that shit will give you osteoarthritis.

Buy the 3000 then, faggit.

consoles are kill. modern consoles want to be like PCs but still want the control of locked hardware and operating systems while charging even more money for worst service then last gen. i am done with that shit.

Me too. I bought some games to play on holidays and you can't play them without internet. Obligatory installation. I bought that shit to put the game and play, if I want to think I would just play on my PC. Sorry for poor english, I'm south america

did you also need 20gb updates per game?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games How many are there? I think this is either more or close to snes. It's probably the hardware that made it popular, or how appealing it was to write games for.
>Last game on the list released in 2013
>came out in 2000

Yes, most of the games need updates, many are obligatory as well. Bought a PS4 btw. I heard that in order to first boot the Xbox One you need internet connection otherwise the fucker won't start.

It's so fucking 80s I don't know where to begin

Playstation 2 was the last console that could "rival" a pc.

lol so glad i didnt cave and get a modern console. ps3 and 360 were the last straw for me.

thats because it was core gaming system.
>step 1 - put in disc
>step 2 - play game
>step 3 - ????
>step 4 - profit

I would buy a ps2 just to plug on my old CRT tv and play FF VII from PS1, RE 3 and Dragon Quest 8. Too bad you need a old PS2 in order to be retrocompatible.

not as 80's as the original master system

who needs curved edges anyway?

I always thought that the fat PS3 was pretty aesthetic.

What if they make systems the size of portable cd players?

...

Just get a mod chipped PS1 they are pretty cheap.

So? I'd jizz my jeans and waggle my willy for a modern PC case that's straight up a Commodore PET clone

CECH 2k series slim PS3s are amazing. It marks a time when Sony wanted to make a more efficient PS3 model but don't skimp out on the build quality.

The 3k series slims and 4k series super slims are when Sony decided to be major cheap asses. No more WiFi signal LED, they removed the chrome finish on the console buttons and front, they used a smaller cheaper fan, they did a poor sloppy thermal paste applicaton on the CELL/RSX so temps run hotter, and you can't install custom firmware or dual boot.

Best console to buy would be a 20gb fat PS3. Retrocompatible with PS1 and PS2. Only prob is too damn ugly.

>CECH 2k
I had one and I regret selling it. It was a nice piece of hardware. Solid as a rock. The newer models had paper thin drive doors and all those other issues.

all ps3s break

it's the best console, but they all break, just like the xbox360

60GB is best model actually. 20GB has no WiFi inside the machine. But trying to find a 20/60GB fat PS3 that isn't on the verge of death is tough.

all mine have. ps3 fat just flat out fucking died, 2 360s and my second playstation disc drives failed. oh, i love how a 360 would eat up and damage a new disc.
>buy crackdown 2 release day
>ERRRRRRRRR
>take out disc
>scratched out a perfect ring in the center
>still works though
>reach the last mission
>nothing happens
>start new game
>reach the end
>nothing happens

>1
>2
>34

>Okami
Great game.
That's how I got into /jp/
>find someone with a FCMB memory card
Extremely difficult.
I have PSP 3000, second best.

Funny enough my fat 80GB PS3 is still alive. Changing the thermal paste really did wonders for it.

However I went through 2 Xbox 360s, those were a real piece of shit. Had to do a towel trick for one of them and sell it to GameStop because I was so tired of the shit crashing and giving me 3 red rings of death.

If you shut the super slim door too fast, you risk breaking the thing. That's how flimsy it was. The older automatic disc tray mechanism for the PS3 was much better.
