How would you make a perfect laptop?

How would you make a perfect laptop?

Good cooling, performance, & battery life

is that a "Install gentoo" macro button?

fucking epic!

x220 with state of the art guts.

Dell XPS 15 with a 16:10 aspect ratio screen and slightly thicker body so you don't have to worry about the cooling sucking ass.

>VHS slot

lost my shit

Quadcore Intel CPU + Secondary ARM CPU so when I need lots of battery life I can just run Linux on ARM.
Two systems in one, why isn't this a thing yet?

a T420 with a broadwell cpu & iris graphics, usb 3.0, hdmi, and a 1440p IPS display.

jesus christ, where can I buy one of these?

Is this the result of the fabled "Sup Forums builds a laptop thread" I missed last week?

One (1) GTX 1070
Good chiclet keyboard
IPS
7500hq
8-16gb of RAM
15"
SSD (any size)
Not gaymer themed

THIS COPYPASTA IS AT LEAST A DECADE OLD

>you should feel ashamed OP
>i should be ashamed for spending 3minutes of my life searching for that ancient meme to mock you
>and mock you i did

>gtx 1070
>not gaymer themed
I'm so, so sorry.

>implication sign isn't green
I don't know why, but I expected it to have that.

>no laserdisc player
It's shit.

Open source mobo.

>no DB9 serial port
>no DB25 serial port
>no Centronics port for glorious dot matrix printer

dropped

CEO of the lenovo here.
Good idea, user.

Switch for network card.

OP here. Please also consider my idea

Intel Atom X7.
Huge battery for 24 hours battery.
1900x600.
M2 port.

8 core 16 thread intel cpu
32gb DDR4
17 4k inch screen
no dedicated gpu ! you don't need a dedicated for a laptop. you shouldn't be gaming on it anyway so the intel is enough.
3 Drive bays, 1 one of which can have a NVME pcie ssd and the other 2 are sata
clit mouse like on a thinkpad
full mech keyboard with numberpad and backlights(easily possible with 17 inch screen)
5 usb 3.0 one expresscard slot for upgrades, one ethernet, one bluetooth, one 4G modem, one GPS with a power switch and one thunderbolt.
And most importantly of all ! easy to repair and modify internal layout, and hot swappable battery

14"
16:10 screen (1080p)
invest everything in battery life.

forgot, also 2 HDMI 2.1

xps 15 has pretty good cooling
thickness for extra battery would be nice tho

>1900x600
pic related

>8 cores
>17 inch
>laptop

>16:10 screen (1080p)

please slap yourself in the face for being this retarded

/claps slowly

17 inch is the best size, and 8 cores would be nice if its possible with a power saving laptop cpu.

x201t with latest guts, cherry trail, 9 cells, 2 dp, usb c, 6 cells, mic/cam switch

Help me to find an image. If Sup Forums would make a smartphone

this one?

This right here.

Or a T400 with Skylake and 1920x1200

Thanks, man!

>flip out keyboard (also hides AA battery compartment)
Nice

>x220
>13,5 IPS (1080p)
>4 usb 3.0
>1 USB 3.1 Type-C
>1 hdmi 2.1
>infinite board
>4 core 8 thread intel cpu 4ghz
>iris graphics
>16gb DDR4
>no SATA
>2 NVM M.2 for RAID 1 or 2 that can be changed in the BIOS
>expresscard with PCI Express 3.1 for egpu
>dockstation with PCI Express for gpu

>No onahole

Dropped

This is a normie meme. The only difference is the Butthurt Dweller and the gentoo/arch thing.

>Cheap
>High Build Quality
>Good Performance

>Cheap

Choose one.

>8 core 16 thread intel cpu
>no dedicated gpu ! you don't need a dedicated for a laptop

There are no 8 or even 6 core intel CPUs with an iGPU.

>take Retina Macbook
>put a normal webcam on it so NSA can watch me jerking off in respectable quality
>wait for Cannon Lake
>put it in
Wasn't that hard.

Unless the OS can switch from one CPU to the other, it's absolutely cancerious DIY type of shit and no decent OS can do it yet because it's more trouble than it's worth it to make it, since quadcore on a laptop is useless for 99% of people.

>Intel Atom X7
Disgusting. Everything lower than Core M is not good enough for a desktop OS.

>24 hours battery
>1900x600
But why?

>Cheap
>High Build Quality
Do you want it to do ironing and blowing you too?

I am pretty sure that Coffee Lake's top of the line CPU is going to have 6 cores with an IGPU.

I'd make it a desktop.

Dual Ryzen APUs with HBM2 on package

ux410uq, but with a 1050ti

Take a thinkpad's body, put an AM4 APU in it. Then have a docking port with PCI-E lanes, to hook up the desktop graphics card of your choice externally.

Screen should be 15", 1440p, detachable and wireless. Since tablets exist we obviously have this technology already. There should be mounts for the screen on both the front and back of the laptop, so when docked, the laptop itself isn't between the screen and your external keyboard/mount.

No speakers because everyone just buys their own and laptop speakers are pretty garbo anyway. But toslink and 7 channel output are a must.

Finally, it must be 100% matte black, with only a tasteful logo above the keyboard.

Where can I buy that?

mac book pro is already a thing you piss poor fucking fagot

Missing the following:
>wheels
>carry handle
>drawer - to keep your nicknacks in; pens, pencils, chargers

The latest XPS 13 with 1080p screen for battery life is already perfect.

everything you said, but with really good onboard speakers - laptops should be a one-stop-shop

oh, and steal some Toughbook tech, and ruggedize the shit outta the thing

Invent a cpu that is not backdoored would be the first step.

>Quad core Ryzen APU
>4 USB-C ports
>3.5mm line in and out
>14" 2560×1600 screen
>Milled aluminum
Basically a Macbook Pro 2015 with newer IO and processor desu

10" Thinkpad 61x with a touchscreen and newer guts.

Maybe have Intel or AMD come up with a good design to be able to easily swap laptop CPUs.
