What a fucking joke.
What a fucking joke
bring back vga amirite?
What's the punchline?
>DP
Pfffffthahahaa that has to be intentional

Active connections
It's slightly annoying that they pushed HDMI on us so hard just to switch to this to save $2 on a license cost
But otherwise nobody gives a fuck
I do considering most video cards have a glitchy implementation of DP and bugs start showing up when you have more than one monitor plugged in (one DP, one non-DP)
For instance, my computer will often crash if I try to wake up the DP monitor to log in locally after remoting in. Aside from that it's completely stable.
yeah, HDMI has been the thing from the turn of the century, and then it changes over quick
Only issue I have while having 3 monitors and 2 using DP is 2/10 times my screen saver doesn't activate
;_;
p.s. it may be my software fault -cough cough- displayfusion -cough cough-
>buy chink dvi cable
>it works fine
>have to spend at least $50 on a display port cable unless you want pin 20 to fry your gpu and/or monitor
How so? It's not HDMISIS, which is literally controlled by Hollywood "entertainment" cartels.
Nobody uses DP other than GPU manufacturers, and even then they still put HDMI and DVI ports on them.
I hate how a proper DP cable is $20 for 2m.
Can't even buy the cheap ones because they have the wrong wiring
I don't like the full size DP connector. The locking mechanism is so uncomfortable to disengage.
Are there any other types of video cables that can actually damage components? Why did they think this was a good idea?
>clicks in securely
It's like you want bad things to happen.
It's made for people who buy cables that FOLLOW THE FUCKING SPEC.
DP is actually pretty fucking good.
>Works fine for 30 days.
VGA is great for troubleshooting.
Where are you buying your DisplayPort cables? I bought my 3' cable for 5 USD shipped and it arrived within 72 hours. It was a Lenovo cable with a serial number and 3-year warranty, also it's thick as fuck and the connectors are incredibly study and hard to flex.
it's probably counterfeit and is feeding power back into you gpu through pin 20 shortening its lifespan as we speak.
I bought 3 dvi cables for 3 € in a thrift store and they work flawlessly.
dvi or dp?
Good thing I work in an SI company then. I can pick up Dell-branded DP to VGA adapters every other month for free. Been using three of em for a year with no issues. Feels bretty gud
How do I detect which manufacturer follows the spec? Keep in mind that amazon always removes packaging and I can't easily verify not chinkware after purchase.
just get a multimeter and check if pin 20 is connected.
I don't think it's very secure at all. It just feels stuck. BNC connectors are secure.
How can we meme DP out of existence?
Pressing the release tab.
Thanks.
