1600x soon. maybe. relegate this to plex/file server to replace my old sandy bridge era mobile pentium laptop
Took me two years and four grand to build and fix this cause I'm a fucking retard.

R7 1700 and an AsRock X370 Taichi arriving in the morning. These are going to Amazon.
...
Why? That build looks solid.
...
I wanted Ryzen anyway, but the launch reviews put me off. Now that things are looking rosier thanks to BIOS updates, I'm just going to go for it while I still have time to return this shit. Paid for a decent board so that I can drop in Zen+ in the future.
The Prime Z270-A is a piece of trash, incidentally. BIOS fan control just plain doesn't work properly (settings for spin up and spin down delays aren't saved), so you need their AI Suite bloatware or SpeedFan to stop it revving up every time you so much as browse to a new web page).

i finally got the am4 noctua adapter for my dh14 .
this thing is fast, but not totally ironed out with memory i guess.

The case is a Fractal Design Define Mini C microATX mid tower case.
The complete build is here -

works for me
ayy
Laptop for now. 4790k/1080/2x4TB HGST+4TB WD Red+500GB Samsung 850 in main rig.
not op but i hope you got the titanium on sale or something. its vrms are pretty shitty. 6+4 design on a $300 board and to add more insult, they use cheapo niko's that sale for $0.40 each per 100 motherboards.
what's sad, it utilizes the SAME identical vrm setup on their cheaper, ~$170 x370 carbon. you actually paid ~$130 more for silver paint and a heatpipe to connect the heatsinks together.
at least gigabyte is using international rectifier power ir stages IR353M that sale for $3.50 each per 100 boards and gigabyte uses IR35201 that go for $4.50 each per 100 motherboards.
those cheapo nikos are known for catching on FIRE when 80c+.
oh yeah and can't forget for $300 you don't even get a bclk generator on the titanium.
...
I have that same card. How well does it fit in the case?
Thinking of buying an ITX case to replace my ATX.
>gigabyte uses IR35201
You mean ASCock? I know the Taichi and Pro Gaming use that part (and also have the beefiest power delivery in general).
Ayyy
would like to upgrade to a 1080 ti at some point but im happy enough for now
I would do the same, but I would upgrade those RAMs. Only 1700 mhz clock speed?
dual channel = 1700 * 2 = 3400
okay, my bad
First new rig in 6 years.
Upgrading from a 470 to this was so satisfying.
i dun goofed
Thinking about upgrading my mobo+cpu+ram

Why.
...
This is my first build, from Summer 2016.
Took me a good while to research and decide on parts that were better than average but still not super expensive.
The decision to get a 4K monitor came a couple of months afterwards, though.
Not sure why the GPU reports 4095MB when it is 8GB!
Well...
bought this off my big bro for £120
i put in a new cpu fan, an ssd and a wifi card
just needs a new gpu and it's golden
Been encoding my porn collection to x265 since yesterday.
Running @4.2 GHz. Can't push it to 4.3 GHz without increasing the voltage to 1.375V. Would that still be safe?
new build
why the fuck is my cpu idle so high with a corsair H100i v2? The fans are set to exhaust on top of the case. I really don't get it.
...
Kaby Lake is a housefire in the unironic sense. Delidding is mandatory if you want decent temps.
Getting a 1080 real soon, thinking about a 1080 Ti but that's probably a lot of overkill for my build so probably just a good ole 1080.
>How well does it fit in the case?
Fits quite well with room to spare.
C2D OCed to 2.9Ghz at 1.38V.
4870 at 790Mhz.
Waiting for Ryzen+Vega.
haven't had that problem with the prime z270-a personally
1080Ti Soon!
Sure you have, you just haven't noticed it. BIOS bugs aren't system-specific.
I'm thinking about changing my CPU cooler to OC this chip a little further and convince myself I don't need Ryzen or whatever else for a while longer, but unsure with what to go with. I'm currently using a Hyper 212 EVO and was thinking about buying a Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Anyone used it or got better recommendations?
...
It does pretty well for what I do.
...
And we're done. My apologies to Rajesh, Sanjay and Amit, who sadly were laid off after failing to prevent this change.
Why the fuck isn't my ram speed showing up senpaitachi?
Also I should have 16gb dual channel installed but it appears only one stick of ram is actually registering.
Love it. I would upgrade the GPU but for now I prefer to wait until I'm willing to spend 1500 euros between the 1080ti and a 4k screen
Speccy doesn't even support DDR4 properly on Intel platforms, so it'll be a long time before it supports it on Ryzen. They seem to have basically given up on developing it. Guess the paid version wasn't bringing in much money.
Are you sure the system is seeing both sticks? Speccy might fuck up the additional info, but it usually shows hardware just fine.
System isn't reading it either, I'll fiddle around with it later. JUST.
There's nothing wrong with it. Look at the other Ryzen setups in here like It's a brand new platform. It'll take time for software to catch up. Download CPU-Z and use the memory tab in that, because that shows everything as it should be. If the system wasn't detecting your RAM, you wouldn't be in Windows, you'd be in a boot loop.
Go through the basics.
1. Resettle the sticks
2. Use the sticks in the other slot, check if maybe one of the sticks is fucked.
3. Plug only one stick in the slot you suspect is fucked, see if it boots.
Basically trial and error to see whether it is the slot or the stick.

There is something very wrong with my build, see if you can find it...
It has Windows 10 installed
yeah she's a cute little PC
No temp sensor on the cpu?
nope, although I did that yesterday on accident, surprised that everything seems to be working...
closer..
I guess it's not really wrong, per se, just something odd that doesn't make sense (no reasonable person would do this)

maybe it isn't as retarded as I thought, I have an rx480 with a phenom II.
