>apply for front-end engineer position in Berlin >tfw get the job >first day comes >literally don't know HTML,CSS or JavaScript >"Hey user, we need a new dashboard for our SaaS product, could you design one on Photoshop and then code it in Angular ?" >"U-u-gh, yea sure no problemo" >tfw I don't know what angular is >decide to get a free dashboard theme with a psd file, fork the source, and change it so I don't fail a code review >forking took 2 hours >submit it in 3 days so they don't get suspicious >"Hey user, the investors LOVE the design of the new dashboard, take the day off, you deserve it :)" >"ugh thanks" >tfw Its 7 months and they still don't know that the dashboard code was copy-pasted from a free dashboard >tfw getting paid $80k + $7k in bonuses

Depending on the license it's probably fine. Depending on where you work most of the time they just care that it werks and don't care as much about how you made it work.
Matthew Miller
Pasta or not, it reminds me of my industrial sls machine toolchain dev career. All I did was forking foss 3d printer tools, adjusting the settings range for laser dot size and rearranging some UI buttons that I personally did not like. Hardware we used basically accepted all the same command sets as hobby 3d printers. Did that for 2 years until the whole project (the hardware engineering part too) was scrapped.
Andrew Powell
I think it is legitimate, as long as you are not breaking any licenses. There is no need to reinvent the wheel.
Matthew Hernandez
the pay is scandalous tho. People do real work and get less.
Fuck you OP
