>technology needs liberal arts and humanities

Yeah literally the entire text just felt like a bunch of buzzwords on a resume of a job applicant applying for a position as Manager of Social Justice

You're joking, but the position of Chief Diversity Officer is a real thing.

The "must" and "intersect" should tip you off about what sort of initiative this is.

I can see wanting CS students to not be autist shut-ins but this isn't the right way of going about that.

Yes, because that's what makes the technology useful and usable by human beings. What's the point in building tech that isn't useful to people?

>a plane wouldn't be useful without liberal arts
>the haber-bosch process wouldn't be useful without liberal arts
huh? only place liberal arts has in technology is entertainment. the least useful form of technology.

this

liberal arts nowadays is just applied technology. It has no place trying to develop it.

Not sure why you think those examples make any sense at all. We're talking about computers. If you make a computer that's limited to use only by other people in technical fields then you just described a company that makes super computers. Apple makes computer products and services that are meant to be used by a wide variety of people so it needs to know how to serve those sets of needs. This shit isn't exactly difficult to figure out but for whatever reason a particular type of person just can't ever seem to connect the dots here.

apple is a joke now anyways

>engineers make computers really easy to use, so even pretentious faggots can use them
>pretentious faggots now think technology owes them something for their contributions in form of being pretentious faggots online
nah. fuck off and write your blog.

A plane wouldn't be built or even thought about without liberal arts. Why do some STEMfags have to be so fucking autistic.

>I'm here for the job interview as aeronautical artist

they ran out of real ideas so they have to pitch imaginary ones

applel needs humanities idiots to buy their shitty hipster products

rest in peace macOS

dubs of truth

They are jelly that they don't have the social ability that most liberal arts majors have. They also think that their degree is a career coupon and that they deserve a better job than a liberal arts major because they had to endure higher level maths.

>A plane wouldn't be built or even thought about without liberal arts.

what the actual fuck do you mean by this?

the only role liberal arts really plays in aircraft design is making the interior of a mockup pax jet, or some cgi renders or maybe a video to play at trade shows

Holy kek.

Take a couple steps back. Historically liberal arts are the basis for our fucking civilization. Math-spergs are worthless if they lack the tools to communicate their ideas and the foundation that allows them to work on these and apply their findings. It's not too different these days.

To build a plane you need resources, how to fuck do you ensure that you're getting cheap titanium from China without an interpreter and couple lawfags and businessfags ensuring that it's the right shit, under right condition, and it actually gets delivered? Who will find the most affordable titanium? Who trains and teaches all these guys in the first place? Where the fuck do you even get the money and get the contract? Who ensures that contracts are actually worth something and not just a piece of paper? Who decides what kind of plane it's going to be in the first place? Who makes the market research to know whether there is a need to build more planes? Who decides on your pay and working hours, whether you're qualified enough to design that shit in the first place? Who trains the people who will fly it?

The more interesting side is how art like literature or movies or even fucking comics inspire people in the first place. Tons of our recent technology was niggered from sci fi and somebody has to make anime to keep your sad ass from killing yourself too.

> the interior of a mockup pax jet, or some cgi renders or maybe a video to play at trade shows
So things that can decide whether it sells or not, which in turn decides whether STEMfags keep their job? Not a big deal I guess.

Fuck off, you stupid fucking piece of shit. Everything you said is borderline retardation. I'm not even going to bother refuting your points because of how retarded they are.

see

You sound tense. Perhaps you should relax? Good thing that there is tons of entertainment available for that.

see

I am not sure how linking to an autistic post is helping your point.

see

Angry much? Or are you too stupid to consider anything else other than your sorry ass

Careful there, user. Wouldn't want to be stressed enough to need a psychologist and their dirty liberal arts knowledge.

But remember it's the pretentious snowflakes who buy Apple products. They just come forward to their target.

see

Why are you even so triggered?

see

Shit argument. The original picture isn't even talking about what it takes to make technology, obviously it's going to require STEM niggers.

What the fuck are you going to do when you've made your computers? Sit there and jack off all day? The person who drew your fucking porn is - guess what, applying the liberal arts.

What use is a computer without the liberal arts? There'd be no interesting or creative content - unless you consider autistic rambling and screeching interesting and creative

>STEM people make computers
>liberal arts people make porn
I see.

Wow, there sure is a lot of butthurt mactoddlers around in this thread.
Enjoy that useless liberal arts degree, I'm sure it will get you a nice job at Starbucks or McDonalds.

Not like there would even be affordable computers available if the general population couldn't buy one and they wouldn't do it if they weren't designed for easy use.

Oh, and to any potential undecided students out there: Please see pic.

No one is downplaying the role that STEM plays in making computers

Does it include working hours?

Also come on, using data collected and presented by someone with liberal arts degree to make a point.

Liberal arts people are saying that they do not earn as much as STEM.

Either:

Liberal arts people are telling the truth. Go to STEM and earn more.

Or:

Liberal arts people are lying. Go to STEM and be with honest people.

It does though. How else will we one day have computers who really understand us, computers who can know what to do with incomprehensible murmured commands or random gestures.

If this didn't happen we'd all have autismboxes with CLI only interfaces.

>june 5th

i'll be drunk as fuck that day

Nobody is doubting that the average STEM fag earns more than the average Liberal arts fag but "annual income" alone doesn't tell shit. Outside of law, the working hours tend to be much lower.

>Nobody is doubting that the average STEM fellow earns more than the average Liberal arts fellow
Just in case there is anyone who doubts this, please see: Please join STEM! World NEEDS more STEM! Underwater basket weaving is alright, but building bridges is more useful to humanity! And pays more!

Kill yourself, you worthless piece of shit.

not allowed to drink on your birthday achmed?

>building bridges without knowing whether you need one and without ensuring that you have the money and materials or even allowed to build one
How about no.

>Thoughts on this years WWDC?
Xcode for iOS is coming.

Make apps on an iPad Pro and sell them on App Store without the need of a Mac.

You heard it here first. Screencap this shit. I'll be 100% right.

A-are they going to kill Intel Macs next year, prophet-sama?

>Engineers are so stupid that they do not know when or where a bridge would be needed
You are absolutely correct. We need smart people to help fix this situation! If you are smart, please join STEM, so that you will not just know how to build a bridge, but also when and where!

And if you are smart, you should be able to figure out where the $$$ is too. See:

Hopefully, Intel and x86 needs to die a horrible death.

But what if I am a girl?

I wonder what music act they will invite

Justin Bieber?

The Chainsmokers, very likely.

> Xcode for iOS
not happening bro, screencap this shit, I'll be 100% right.

If you really use Xcode and know it, you should know it will take a while to port it to ARM.

Everyone is welcome to join STEM! We are not cool yet, but if YOU join, we could be!

And remember:

When are ya gonna kill urself blacky pajeet?

>A-are they going to kill Intel Macs next year, prophet-sama?
Don't have that info but my guess is no way. WAY TOO MANY apps for Macs. And they sell millions of them.

definitely coming. It's not even a prediction. I know for sure.

A lot of apps get broken with a Major OS update on MacOS anyway. It would be business as usual even if they switch to ARM.

>We wanted to make an initiative towards a better world.
>No, we're not going to stop producing our technology in near slave-labor conditions.
>Instead, we're just going to talk about diversity.

No it wouldn't. Tons of multi-platform apps (from MS and Adobe for example) rely heavily on X86. There's no way this transition will happen smoothly. They might release ARM Mac but I think they won't... ARM iPad Pro is what they want you to buy over a Mac anyway.

>Those salaries

Lel, thank god I'm a COO

(That's $650k annual for those who are wondering.) :)

I love how this board hates apple but I guranfuckingtee all the poojeets and foss fags are gonna be tuning in glued to their screen

It will be like PowerPC to x86, they'll just release an emulator that will help with the transition.
Microsoft demoed Snapdragon 820 on Windows 10 and it ran photoshop and watched a 1080p video in software (hardware acceleration wasn't available at the time). It seems to have the performance somewhere between an Atom and a Core M3.

Small ones that are a massive niche maybe. Don't recall an update messing up anything in the last 6 years.

>No, we're not going to stop producing our technology in near slave-labor conditions.
That'd mean 10x higher prices if we also include fair cost for the materials and even if they will massively lower their margins. Most of the chinese slaves will eventually get replaced by robots either way.

Do foss fags even hate Apple? Sure, some Gentoo militants do but most only have a hate boner against MS.

It won't. Apple will never transition Mac to ARM.

iPad Pro is the new Mac.

Shittiest yet.

> definitely coming
> iOS doesn't even support multi-user login yet
sure thing bro!

Even Apple isn't crazy enough to pull a "who needs a laptop now, have a tablet" shit that MS did. iPad Pro is aimed at artists and your grandparents, not the usual mac buyer.

lmao.. you've never developed iOS apps. I do.

they will never transition Mac to ARM. way too many problems and not much financial gain. they'll continue adding ARM co-processors and improving iPad Pro until it can do most of the things Mac can do.

Then Mac will be retired... like iPod was zombified. Mac has no real future.

>you've never developed iOS apps
> implying

>not much financial gain
Freeing themselves from Intel jews alone would be worth it. Developing OS would be streamlined too since they would be able to drop Mac OS completely.

Though yeah, the transition from established x86 programs does sound like a huge hurdle but hey, they did something similar already. If anyone is going to off x86 it's Applel.

Godly font rendering is godly.

then you're a fucking retard for thinking that multiuser support is important for dev.

Mac's a dead platform. PCs are dead in general. They're trucks. They'll keep making them but they won't care about them. They'll be putting their energy into iPad Pro and iOS.

No ARM for Macs.

wincucks will never know the feel.

Technology intersects with liberal arts every day. You're using a computer in which all manner of components, software or hardware, was touched by someone whose job it was to humanize the product and make it aesthetically pleasing. This is why we have STEAM fields.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STEAM_fields

iOS will merge with MacOS occasionally, you're wrong when you say Mac's are dead just because iOS is growing so fast.

In fact, they're already rewriting MacOS on Swift, the Dock is already 100% Swift.

X86 is dying, I agree, but it will take a while for the full transition.

...

What the fuck?

>The University of Florida created an infographic to show the benefits of both STEM (left brain) and STEAM (right brain) functions.
What the fuck indeed. With universities like that, it's hardly surprising they got a reality TV star as their president.

It'll be full of faggots that like apple products as usual.

Speaking from your experience as an attendee?

Yes.

>how to fuck do you ensure that you're getting cheap titanium from China without an interpreter and couple lawfags and businessfags ensuring that it's the right shit, under right condition, and it actually gets delivered? Who will find the most affordable titanium? Who trains and teaches all these guys in the first place? Where the fuck do you even get the money and get the contract? Who ensures that contracts are actually worth something and not just a piece of paper? Who decides what kind of plane it's going to be in the first place? Who makes the market research to know whether there is a need to build more planes? Who decides on your pay and working hours, whether you're qualified enough to design that shit in the first place? Who trains the people who will fly it?

To answer briefly: not liberal arts people.

Clearly not STEM people either.
