HTC 10 or xperia xz

im only really thinking xperia because i think it looks really nice

First for getting off the flagship treadmill

I'm new to phones. Are different ROMs like branches of the base Android OS? When Android updates from 10.1 to 10.2.1 do the different ROMs apply those updates to their branch? Using a custom ROM like LineageOS wont mean that I'm foregoing security updates, rather the opposite, I'll get more frequent updates as carriers abandon their branches after a year or so right?

US
AT&T
Mostly used for browsing the web and playing some random gachi card game.
Budget is less then 500 dollar preferred but its essentially unlimited if the phone is worth the extra money.
Currently have a Galaxy S4 and would enjoy something a little larger but not mini tablet sized.
What kinda phone should I look into?

Compact Nokia phone when?

This, give me the Nokia 6 with a 4.7" display

Where the fuck did you get it for $80?????????

>gayman on Android is a waste of time

Ooooooooh. Straight outta /spg/.

It's the hard truth.

any open source or at least ad free non-contact number blockers? why the fuck hasnt silence/signal implemented this yet? fucking christ man, get your shit together

i like to emulate zelda ds games tho

You've got the basics correct.

alright you meming fucks

is the zuk z2 shit or not
anyone here actually have one?
can't tell who's honest here, and who's just shilling

Where the hell is the flowchart? All Google brings up are threads where people ask for the chart and it never gets posted.

I don't care if it's the winter 2016 chart, just post it.

Sadly it is sort of the truth. All gaming nowadays seems empty and soulless compared to even 10 years ago.

As much as I love TF2, I sort of blame it for starting the "pay to git gud" idea

>Samsung s8
>4gb of RAM
>Same camera as s7
>That battery
>Samshit pricing

Holy kek normies will actually buy this

A SD430 will handle DS emulation just fine.

>he says as he posts a pic of an ugly thing that probably has a dick which he faps to
Rather be a normie than a faggot desu

Thanks for confirming. I'm trying to treat phones as just small low powered computers with weird file systems. I cant seem to find any decent repositories of information without searching shit like "Android for beginners". The custom ROM sites themselves dont seem to advertise why I should use them, what changes they make, what differentiates them from their competitors like I expect with *nix flavors

>Ashley
>Penis

Try not to project so hard next time gayboi

>He wasted money on samshit

What's the general opinion on HTC 10 around here? It's just about the only thing I've found that checks all my boxes specs and feature-wise, but I'd love to know if it has any quirks (good or bad) that I should know about?

sure thing poor closetfag

OP3T. Galaxy S7 If you feel 5.5" is too big.

>If you don't piss money away on inferior samshit phones you're poor!

Hello samshill.

>is poor
>has those pics saved on his PC
Let me guess, virgin and probably some yuropean poorfag which is even worse
btw I own a pixel, poorbong

if you're gonna buy an expensive phone that looks like an iphone you mas as well buy an iphone

I wish I was European

>Samshill is still projecting

It isn't the same camera though
phonearena.com/news/Galaxy-S8-and-S8-come-with-new-Sony-IMX333-and-Samsung-camera-sensors_id92623

Alright so it might be slightly different my mistake. Everyone was saying it was the same, even those who had hands on.

>iphone
I'm not a faggot so no

>those pics
t. virgin

I'm a virgin because I have cute pics of little girl reaction images?

>Everything is a virgin reeee

Hello tumblr

why are you pretending you're not some lonely virgin who faps to kids?
sick fuck

At least one of those is right

How invasive are the Amazon ads on the G5+?

I heard they are just on the lockscreen and can be swiped away.

>unironically reading phone reviews on sites other than gsmarena or dxomark

Someone answer this please

The latter I bet you sick fuck

Knowing amazon they probably collect all kinds of data on you while using. I don't think you can root that phone

Got me bud

needs a couple of more years

gay

anyone for this?

How long does it take on average for a new flagship to get rooted and have custom ROMs available? I just got an LG G6, and the default skin is only tolerable.

>made the mistake of looking at comments on phone videos
Are phone people really this stupid? Like damn, I thought Sup Forums as a whole was bad, but these people are on a different level.

It's usually full of retarded iShills

Nokia 5 is 5"

>USA, SoCal
>MetroPCS

I like the sound of these stock androids. But I don't know much about smartphones.

Any ROM reccs for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +

Nokia 5 is 5.2
Nokia 3 is 5

>phone has been dead since Friday

>Moto G5 Plus - The BEST Phone Under $200
Question - this nigga talking about 4G problems with those other phones, can you not use 4G on them at all? (I don't have a 4G phone atm.)

Both are good. Just up to your preference. I have 10 because I wanted the DAC but XZ is IP rated and still has front speakers

If I buy a Xiaomi phone and it's got the global rom + playstore flashed to it, does that mean that the bootloader is unlocked or no?

Just curious as unlocking the bootloader on newer Xiaomi devices (specifically the Redmi Note 4X) seems like it's prone to errors and not always successful. It would be easier to get a phone with an unlocked bootloader because I would be flashing shit ASAP (don't want to deal with MIUI)

It varies. If you do your research you can find plenty of chinkphones with partial or full LTE support on AT&T/T-Mobile. LeEco, BLU, and most Huawei phones have full support for bands 2-4-5-12. The Redmi Note 3 has 2-4-5 but other Xiaomis have just band 5 or possibly no American LTE bands at all. A lot of them have multiple versions as well, which just makes it harder.

The G5 works on all the American networks, even the CDMA ones, so it's idiot-proof.

I bought a Google Pixel XL 128gb. Hopefully no bootloop issues like the G4. I finally got rid of my G4 and I'm happy.

>phone died saturday
>new one won't come until Thursday or Friday

Do you need compatibility with all bands for it to work properly in a certain country or just at least one of them, or does that depend on region/state?

Ok get a Sony they do compact

Depends on where you are and your carrier. T-Mobile uses bands 2, 4, and 12, but they mainly rely on band 4. AT&T uses 2, 4, 5, and 12/17, and they mainly use bands 5 and 12/17. Fewer compatible bands just means you'll be more likely to drop to 3G, which is usually still fine. It's just you don't want to drop a ton of cash on a phone that won't get 4G very often. So I tend to recommend phones that are fully compatible.

The CDMA carriers (Sprint and Verizon) are entirely their own beasts and don't work at all with international phones.

>not paying for two day shipping

Moto G5 would be fine, or anything else with a Snapdragon 625. The Moto Z Play has just about the best battery life you can get right now and it uses the 625 too. The G5 has a smaller battery than the Z but it's still good.

The Redmi Note 4 would have been perfect with a 625 and a massive battery but it's not fully compatible with US 4G bands.

Do you usually waste your money?

How's Nougat bros?

meh

I had Lineage 14.1 for a while but downgraded to CM13 and it's better. Too many bugs in Nougat for me, and there were very few additional features.

Daily reminder that cell phones, wi-fi, bluetooth, smart meters, etc, cause cancer, brain damage, psychiatric problems, and infertility.

P.S. I'm not claiming nougat is bad; it's just my device's implementation of it is buggy because it never received an official build of it. But I didn't really see any huge features that made it worth putting up with my bluetooth dropping multiple times per day. Basically the notification drawer is slightly better.

>and vaccines cause autism and climate change isnt happening and gmos are bad for you

Should I get a Moto G4 or Blu Life One X2?

I'm looking to purchase a new phone when my contract ends in July with Verizon. I currently have a MotoX 2nd gen and I loved it, so I'm looking for a similar phone with similar stock android experience. I will be moving from Verizon to AT&T, what phones should I consider? Not a fan of Samsung, budget is less than 800 (want to buy the phone unlocked).

Thx

Talk me out of buying a used Gear VR. I will most likely use it 100% for watching videos/anime/porn.

GMOs are much higher in heavy metals, herbicides, and insectisides. Both applied afterwards, and generated by the crop itself. They are objectively bad for you, and it's about as up for discussion as if eating mercury is "fine" for you. Modern day GMOs are trash. You are defending a pathetic waste of potential rigged for massive profits at the expense of all else. Grow up.

Vaccines, because they're given so close together and along with the adjuvants (which are neurotoxic), provoke sucha potent immune response, probably do contribute to neurological problems. Autism is well known to occur alongside chronic inflammation of the microglia, which would without a doubt affect synaptogenesis, dendritic spine formation and arborization. cell differentiation, and the overall chemistry of the brain. This is basic neuroscience, the immune system is intimately linked with brain function.

Microwaves, especially when they're pulsed, activate voltage gated calcium channels. Chronically elevated intracellular calcium that isn't properly trafficked out of the cell leads to increased NO synthesis, which reacts with superoxide and increases the rate of peroxynitrite formation, greatly. And speaking of autism, look up "Timothy Syndrome", a polymorphism of the genes that generate VGCCs which causes them to be overactive, which universally causes autism, immune, and cardiac problems.

Stop parroting and read a book. There is plenty of literature on this dating back as far as the 60's. You're only 40 years behind the curve.

G4 Plus

Sorry, I know you guys are disappointed that your wonderful new toys are harmful to the health of every living thing on this planet, but you're going to face it sooner or later, whether you like it or not.

Ok, thanks.

How so?

I don't believe you because this post reads like someone googled for proof of 3 separate wacko theories and didn't look at any evidence to the contrary. I will not engage in the same behaviour to rebuke

As above.

Many species have a much worse time with this than humans, such as amphibians, reptiles, certain insects like bees and butterflies, and many species of birds. We know very well what aberrant activation of voltage gated calcium channels generally causes. How does it activate them? It interacts with their voltage sensing subunit, which is composed of charge groups that all need to be moved the same direction at close to the same time. If you know anything about physics and electricity, you know why their location in the plasma membrane (phospholipid bilayer) would make this very probable. Experiments show instantaneous influx of Ca2+ when exposed to microwave fields.

There is no evidence to the contrary that didn't use cell types either in very specific phases, or that are know to be non-reactive / low in L-type VGCC expression. This has been established thoroughly. Exposure to microwaves causes a mess of double and single strand breaks, as well as degradation of other cellular machinery.

Or just go to pubmed yourself.

You've got a few of those right. Some vaccines do cause autism, there is a direct link. GMOs are really bad for you.

As for climate change, we have a roughly 100000 year cycle with 20000 year sub-cycle. The question you should be asking is why global UN taxes would have any impact what so ever on the sun and the earths orbit around it.

>Daily reminder that cell phones, wi-fi, bluetooth, smart meters, etc, cause cancer, brain damage, psychiatric problems, and infertility.
One sad little detail is that most of what you complain about, wifi, bluetooth and smart meters are measured in mW and are barely measurable compared to GSM/3G/4G which is measured in watts. A wifi router is typically just a few feet away while the nearest cell phone tower is several kilometers away. Yet you're able to turn wifi and bluetooth off but you'll have a hard time bringing down that big solid metal cell phone tower. There's not really that many good options there, perhaps a lot of RDX or C4 and some thermite could help...

Gotta go. Give it some thought, the cost of a cell phone might be a lot higher than your outrageous monthly bill that's detestably out of proportion with real world operating and expansion costs.

I saw a long ass comment chain on one video where some autist was claiming that [insert phone here] was DOA because it didn't come out with USB-C or whatever.

They're addicts, and brainwashed tribalistic sheep to begin with. The average human is little more than a herd animal. Refer to this:

Pulsed microwave fields affect neurotransmitter release. These people are literally physically addicted and likely suffer withdrawal once the exposure is gone.

whoops, too bad about that mediatek on the 3

TOO BAD ABOUT THE BRAIN AND DNA DAMAGE.

USB-C is a new requirement for me going forward. I've had too many phones with worn out micro USB ports.

I'm not going to consider a phone complete trash just because of it though.

This anime is really kawaii

I'm a memephone master and I've never had trouble with microusb ports. I don't doubt that any of you have but is it the way you're using the phone?

My phone history with microUSB is Samsung i9000, Nokia N9, Lumia 720, LG Fx0, BB Q10 - haven't had trouble with any of them?

>USB-C is a new requirement for me going forward. I've had too many phones with worn out micro USB ports.

uhmm... I have a worthless NEET brother who invites himself too frequently. He brings his XBox along and connects it to one of my computer monitors. Now none of my 3 computer monitors don't have a working HDMI port (which honestly isn't a bad thing since I use DP and DVI and it prevents that child from playing his XBox). One obvious question is: Would it be the DP ports on those who were broken if the XBox came with only a DP port?

I know, broken USB micro ports are a problem. But are broken USB-C ports ... better? Sure, you probably can't plug a USB-C cable into a USB-C port backwards while drunk and break it, but you could try to force a micro USB into a USB-C port and break it..

Moto G first gen, Galaxy S4, and Moto G3. They all still work they're just loose. Now it's making me question whether I had a bad cable that did damage to the ports. I'm careful with my phones, I don't yank them or drop them.

Oh okay, if it's just loose I can understand. My Q10 port isn't loose itself, but the way the cable sits in it is. I never have trouble with it failing to charge or transfer data though, and I figure it's directly connected to me accidentally tugging the phone by the cord a few times.

I don't see how USB C would avert this problem though. Surely only the magnetic cables seen in macbooks/surface/xperia z3's would prevent this issue?

What's the general consensus on phone cases/covers?

I've been using one, really nice looking case but, I never drop my phone so it feels like I've wasted my money

I guess it's worth it for the peace of mind at least.

Now that got me wondering: are there any cases designed for use with lanyards, retractable tethers, etc?

>phone dead since thursday
>new one won't get here until like a month from now because chinkshit

No. This is the first thing I've bought that was this expensive in a very long time. I got fed up with the G4 I couldn't take it anymore.
Will you pay for it next time?

>are there any cases designed for use with lanyards, retractable tethers
Haha, why would you want that?

I thought USB-C was more durable. Maybe it's not, I don't know.

>people hamfistedly ramming USB Micro cables into the ports wrong is a common enough problem
I hate how retarded the average person is. Reminds me of all those driver assist commercials where the person needs ten different alarms just to stay in their lane and to avoid slamming into a stopped vehicle.
F
I always pay for extra shipping. I live in the very rural Midwest so it's hard for me to get many things locally.

I envy you, I want my phone now.

To attach lanyards, retractable tethers, etc.

So you'd like to have your cellphone hanging from your neck or something?

Getting it. Wish me luck.
