Is there a good tutorial out there to learn how to do diagrammatic modeling in LaTeX?
Or should I just give up and use yEd and import the diagram I make to LaTeX?
Is it worth it to also/instead learn how to make graphs and shit in LaTeX?
Daniel Wilson
I made a "Favicon", how do I put it into html now?
Brody Gonzalez
You put it into the root folder. Browsers will pick it up automagically if you call it "favicon.ico/png".
It really is that easy.
Easton Clark
What's a "root folder", for the sake of this exercise pretend I'm retarded.
Dominic Gomez
Something like '/var/www/yourwebsite'. Basically the actual folder you have your website-related shit.
Samuel Stewart
To be more precise, the 'root folder' is the upper-most folder in a given context. In the context of a webserver it's usually the path I gave (for Linux anyway).
Colton Wright
Oh, I'm just using my computer, it's not online yet. Is it still possible, I looked at some youtube videos, but it's not working.
Daniel Perez
What would cause both my computer and my phone to stop being able to load website, but my steam chat stays logged in?
Every other connection in the house could still load websites.
Julian Ward
Switching HDD's between two laptops. The newer laptop is much more powerfull than the previous one. Despite this, I get a measy 1-2 FPS when running some Vidya on the new laptop. I could get a solid 25 FPS with the same game on the previous laptop even though it has weaker specs.
Is this because I didn't install any of the drivers for the new laptop?
Jordan Mitchell
>Is this because I didn't install any of the drivers for the new laptop? Yes.
Tyler Nelson
You have discovered why cloning as a backup solution is full retard.

Why would someone buy an OEM version of windows instead of pirating? Doesn't M$ consider both versions to be illegitimate? I ask because I'm still trying to decide on the OS for my gaming build.

I'd like something above $1.02 to get free shipping on Amazon, any vaguely useful technology related recommendations? Preferably under $5.

I'm currently have an R9 380 sapphire I want to start OCing it. I don't have much experience with Amd's wattamn and it look lacking, so that are the best program for And graphics cards or doesn't it matters which manufacturers?

What's the best program to mount my disc images?
Dominic Lee
On Windows 10? Windows 10.
Daniel Myers
I didn't actually fall for the windows 10 meem
Charles Martin
How would I know? How would I still know what OS you're on?
On Linux it's just the mount command.

I'm a JavaScript dev (web developer code monkey) and I want to switch to Python and make some GUI stuff.
Best way to learn? Everything out there seems to be for people completely new to programming. I want to take the "fast track" if possible. I don't want someone to take 10 hours explaining what a fucking string is.

my phone was stolen about 4 hours ago. it was turned off right away, so there's no way to locate it during that 4 hours, my girlfriend called Verizon and told them it had been stolen, so they froze any data and service for it
i'm guessing even if the phone gets turned back on, i can't locate it anymore since Verizon killed the service. my question is essentially, am i right in assuming this?

Is there better software so ican print this without the white bits???
Nicholas Nelson
Just click on Fit to paper. Or use hardware. I recommend scissors.
Christopher Thompson
...
Sebastian Kelly
It always prints the white highlighted yellow
Colton Stewart
Scissors then. Also if you're framing it, the white will be under the frame. There's really not much reason to print it over the whole paper.

Q: what lenses should i choose? Q: what should i seek in the pc? (prefer nvidia/intel) - should i go quadro or gaymen 1080/titan x? (yes during my non work time i'd like to pwn sum nubes, but not absolutely necessary) is 32GB RAM enough?

also: i7 or e3/e5?
Justin Campbell
I don't know that's why i'm here
Chase Flores
It doesn't REQUIRE it, necessarily, but even the people who already know better do it because it's the easiest and safest option, so I'd recommend it. Every bit of function on your motherboard requires drivers, and Windows configured a buncha stuff around those, and then programs configure based on what you have, etc, so while you CAN just uninstall the old drivers and install the new, the odds are good that you'll fuck it up.
Jace Walker
So do you reckon I wipe the drive, plonk in the mobo, plonk cpu on mobo, then boot windows from a usb?
Elijah Diaz
Yeah.

>1TB WD external passport with a bunch of movies/tv series on it (700GB) >it was formatted to exFAT so it could talk to all the OS's without any problems >literally been sitting it a drawer for months >go to plug it in and it's not recognised by either macOS or Windows >try general shit like looking through disk utility >shows up as either like 999GB full or completely empty unallocated space, seems like it's shat itself >try all default OS 'first aid'/'repair tools' to now success >currently downloaded TestDisk and am trying to see if it can get anything useful back from the drive
I don't give two fucks about all the data really, I had everything organised into directories for all my movies and TV series; and it sort of acted as a list of all the stuff that I've watched and liked.
Is it possible to simply view the previous directory structure (names of all the folders) of a sort of fucked external drive? Need some help if you wouldn't mind lads

I'm having some trouble with the .addEventListener method in JS. Current line is paper.addEventListener('click', chosePaper);
However, I tried changing chosePaper to another function that takes an argument, and now it just calls that function in this line instead of when the event fires.
What gives?

I went to desuarchive on my Samsung Galaxy S6and it redirected me to an ad site. My phone started vibrating wildly and a convincing messagebox popped up telling me my phone had contracted a virus (I didnt read the rest as I quickly restarted my phone).
How can I tell if it was just a shitty scareware ad or an actual virus? Im not experienced with phones.
I guess I can boot into safe mode and use a NANDroid recovery (TWRP) from a month ago but I dont really want to.
Zachary Morgan

I'm thinking about setting up my next build with unRAID. As long as I had enough cores and video cards, I could run Win7 and Debian side by side, and use some KVM switches to switch between the two in an instant, right? I always end up dropping my dual-boots because it's a pain switching between them when I need the other OS, and it makes multitasking suck.
Also, they apparently use a flash drive for booting/authenticating unRAID. Aren't flash drives kinda too shitty to be reliable for something important, like YOUR ENTIRE OPERATING SYSTEMS CORE FUNCTION? Or am I just misreading that because of how often flash cards like MicroSD fail? And does that mean I need an internet connection to verify my license each boot, or is that not the case?

Have it trying to take an image of the fucked drive (1000GB total) and put it onto the HDD of my PC, it got to like 0.03% in 30ish mins and then hasn't moved since - not sure if it's fucked or just hanging but I'm going to leave it on overnight and just hope for the best
I'm guessing that mechanically something is fucked in the drive causing everything to take 1932493294x longer

In Gnu/Linux there are differents "terminal emulators" and differents "shell",..for example " urxvt + bash ", togheter are a CLI,..I'm right? So, what's the equivalent in windows environment ? " cmd.exe " and " Power Shell " are shell,.. for windows,..I'm right?...and terminal emulators?
Dominic Baker

Would a VPN solve my ISP blocking all my useful ports and let me host whatever I want?
Brody Hernandez
shell is a process. XTerm and others are an interfact program.Meaning while shell is running it is waiting for user input. The way you give that process any input is through terminal emulators.
cmd.exe and Power Shell are "shell" like process from linux. When you launch cmd.exe and power shell it gives you default interface. If you had installed gentoo you would know how defaul shell interface looks like.

I have to write a program that displays the largest and smallest number of a series of scanf's (ew), using separate functions and not using arrays.

What should I use to easily synchronise my reaction image folder between my two laptops and maybe my phone, without entrusting my nazi frog meme pictures to the cloud. Maybe something usb based? Something you put on a usb drive and it checks when it's plugged in whether there is anything new or missing in that device's folder and updates accordingly, or along those lines, would be good if that's possible. Any recommendations?
Lincoln Reed
Usually those are explicitly stated in my experience. Unless you're thinking of first-order logic symbols like the upside-down A and reverse E.
Benjamin Wright
samba if same network
Bentley Roberts
Yes and no. You can host whatever you want, but when you route it through a VPN (this goes for anything really: ISP, VPS, etc) you'll have to abide by their terms of service.
All you'll be doing is route traffic through your VPN, but I'm not sure how people will reach you through that VPN.
Adrian Howard
get an small usb drive, can't hurt to have an extra one around

Thanks, but a CLI is something like " XTerm + bash " or XTerm is a CLI ?
Ayden Wood
They'll be on the same networks but almost never switched on at the same time, and I'd like to avoid having anything floating around on the wifi I share with my family. Is an automatically syncing usb a plausible/convenient option?
Dominic Lopez
These terms are confusing and I am not confident about border line defintion of them but my understanding is "Xterm" is an emulator that emulates CLI of shell in X windows system environment. Bash is a type of shell shell itself provide a Command line interface. That is bare minimum. Xterm and other are wrappers of bare minimum command line interface.

If I have a turntable with a built in phono preamp, and want to use it along with my PC on the same set of bookshelf speakers, what's the best way to switch between the two? Kinda like "INPUT" on TVs. Would I need a receiver for something like that? What should I be looking for in that case?

Is it true that that it is generally better to overclock the fsb instead of multiplier?
I have a fx8350
I can get a stable oc of 4.6ghz if I primiraley oc the multiplier and only slightly the fsb
I can also get stable oc of 4.4ghz with a much more focused fsb oc and balanced multiplier oc
so which one is preferred, what would the optimum be for better perf overall?

What would change between using a PC and laptop. You'd want your back to be straight (though reclined slightly is preferable) your arms resting comfortably, and the screen not too close to your face.
The problem I find is that viewing angle makes you crane your neck downward, so just take breaks every now and then and stretch your neck.
Xavier Gray
So there is a mangaupdates userscript that pops the cover image for a manga on mouseover. The script first checks if an image is cached, if it is it shows the image, if not it shows the image and then puts in on the cache. Since the image is cached using GM_setValue, it can't be stored as a picture, so it is stored as text.
What I want to know is where on my computer is this text stored.
