>Serious discussion about ultra wide
Been wanting to get an IPS 1440hz 1440p monitor for a while. Researched a bit and kinda came to the conclusion that 16:9 is the ideal, in terms of frames and focal point. (IMAX etc.)
I got a GTX 1070, probable upgrade to 1080ti, planning on getting 1700 or 1600X which can run minimum frames well. I have a 16:9 HD screen and at times I can almsost imagine the bonus of 21:9, the forums nagging at me. All the times in battlefield 1 or rocket league where I could see slightly more to the side without having to swivel. I start to have almost ghost visions of what 21:9 would be like, and have an impression the greater screenspace and colour would add a lot.
After realising I can probably still run 3440x1440p at high and get 70+fps on the GTX 1070, and that a 1080 ti would probably be better utilised on it.
At the same time I kinda like the look of big 16:9 screens, they seem more focused/full in some ways.
So Sup Forums, should I go with the ultra flat meme and get the X34, or get the acer predator 16:9 instead?

That is the ugliest fucking PC ever. Damn why would someone do that?
Get a 1080 144hz for gaymin and a 4k for everything else.
Just like with riced out Japanese cars it is a product of too much money and no common sense.
I just went from an ASUS 24" 1080p 60hz 5ms monitor to an AOC 28" 4k 60hz 1ms Freesync monitor. This thing is amazing. I was considering going ultrawide but decided against it and am glad I did. it just seems like stretched out 1080p to me for some reason. Get whichever you like but I definitely recommend a higher resolution and bigger monitor. Look for an adaptive sync or gsync monitor.
Are you me? I just bought my 4k freesync monitor. It's amazing but it's only 60hz so I game on my 144hz monitor and everything else I do on the 4k. 4k is so crispy it's crazy I thought 1080 was nice.
LG 29UM67P
That's a 2k adaptive sync monitor from LG for $259. Seems like a pretty good deal.
just bought this lg 27ud68-p Best monitor I've experienced. Not great for gaymin though.
>buying a McDonald's gaming PC
These fucking Americans I swear
There are only 1440p, 100hz Monitors out there, because DisplayPort only allows that much (1.2 at least)
I'm rocking an LG 34uc79G (144hz 1080p) and its breddy good.
I guess we all saw the same deals. I was gonna get a 144hz monitor but they seem so expensive for that. I mostly enjoy games for their story and end up playing solo alot because of that. Even in Ghost Recon Wildlands I have been playing solo so I figured gaming on the 4k freesync monitor would be no problem and I was right. I love it. Some games I have to play on way lower settings. I am currently waiting until AMD releases their next flagship or I may get dual 580s. My 290x shows its age at 4k.
For games a 1080p 144hz TN panel is still far superior than any IPS.
If you're not playing games then you're just pissing yourself with a high hz monitor.
Is it more immersive user? Also does it wear on your eyes more having that much space?
>being so fat you make a McDonalds themed PC
Definitely more immersive.
Games like Wildlands looks great. Although I need a new GPU to run it at 60Hz+
It's like watching a Movie what you can play.
Can confirm. On my 4k monitor Wildlands is not only one of the top 3 best looking games out right now but possibly the most graphics intensive as well. Just waiting on new AMD gpus to see what they offer.
I'm at 40-50 FPS constantly with almost Max settings, only Motion Blur turned of, SBAO instead of HBAO, Also viewing distance is High instead of Very High.
Riced out Japanese cars are usually done with very little money and no common sense.
Looks damn nice user. Think I might have to get one for cyberpunk 2077, which is pretty much the only game I'm excited for. I feel like the witcher 3 might not benefit as much from 21:9 in some ways, but all the neon and colour and city would be perfect for the extra realestate
Also thinking it will be good for films in my study when I put a lounge in. The 3440x1440 can display all media better than 16:9, in terms of utilising space. Sure there's black boxes for shows/if I play overwatch, but it's still technically the same size as a 1440p 16:9 predator if you don't utilise the full ultra wide
Yeah, think I'll go the no regrets route and save up for x34
Ultrawide is great, I only have a 2560x1080 one but the ratio is the same. Most games support it now, and the ones that don't just have bars on the side. For games that do support it though, the immersion is awesome. I love having more peripheral space, even if it's not a real advantage in a lot of games. And mine is only 27", a 34" 1440p ultrawide would be amazing
What's wrong with the Ronald McDonald theme PC?
...
it just exhibits everything wrong with the pc building culture...aka Sup Forums
>muh McFramerates
The human stomach can't digest over 60 fries per second anyways
