>decide to use hard drive from old mabook pro in new pc >go to open pc >apple proprietary screws >order screwdriver >open case >try to remove ssd >different proprietary screwhead >order another screwdriver >remove ssd >try to use in my pc >ssd has a propriatary pin confiuration >order PCI adapter
>Why does apply make everything proprietary? because you will buy it
Isaac Carter
Because fuck you that's why. >you will never be able to upgrade your shitty 128GB SSD in your rMBP Fuck you Apple. All you had to do was use a standard M.2 port, but you had to be special again didn't you? Honestly, fuck this company.
Isaiah Price
oi vey its its a shame that your premium laptop doesn't have enough storage, looks like you have to take it to a elite specialist to upgrade it, all for a small fee of course
Adam Bell
Makes it more difficult or impossible to buy the cheapest configuration and then upgrade it on the cheap.
Can't have that.
Wyatt Lopez
they've been kikes since forever, it's your fault for supporting them and buying their products
Hunter Robinson
It's from 2012. I bought it for uni, broke the screen about 6 month later. I took it to the (((genius bar))) and they wanted 900GBP to replace it. It's been sat on my wardrobe ever since gathering dust.
I don't think that's the kind of truck they use in Europe. Does this mean the USA is next?
Zachary Morales
Because Apple actually provides support. They are only going to offer support for what's tested and they know works.
Grayson Evans
if it's property how do PCI adapters exist? maybe you just have a shitty motherboard?
Owen Scott
So this is what having money is like... Huh.
Alexander Jackson
>Because Apple actually provides support.
Caller: "Hello? I'm having a--" Apple Support: "You're holding it wrong." Caller: "What? I haven't even asked--" Apple Support: "Thank you for calling. Drink more Ovaltine. Goodbye."
Zachary Sanders
>I don't think that's the kind of truck they use in Europe. Yeah, European trucks are 99.9% flat nose.
Joshua Ortiz
>900GBP That's a lot of Good Boy Points, why didn't you take it to some 3rd party repair shop so they could fix it for less?
Parker Thompson
Just buy new MacBook retina pro ure poorfag wink wink smiley face
Alexander Gonzalez
>security screws >today's market and legal system are so fucking pathetic you can copyright/patent/whatever a geometrical shape so nobody is allowed to sell screwdrivers for it >"security screws" exist merely by not having a readily available driver available I thought I couldn't get any more disappointed in humanity
Caleb Evans
Lowkey impressed by the amount of space dedicated to battery. Is this how all laptops roll nowadays?
Ayden Moore
>>today's market and legal system are so fucking pathetic you can copyright/patent/whatever a geometrical shape so nobody is allowed to sell screwdrivers for it You're making it sound like this is a new thing. I remember happy meals toys from the 80s using varying combination of "tamper proof" screws.
Aside from that, the penta lobe screws are quite nice, you're less likely to fuck it up than the usual ones.
Kayden Butler
>Is this how all laptops roll nowadays? Unfortunately not. You're still looking at premium laptops in the > $1000 price range. >inb4 macfags insist their $1000 laptops are entry level because it's the cheapest one Apple make And yes, I've heard that argument IRL.
Logan Nelson
But the 2012 macbook uses philips head screws?
Lincoln Rodriguez
>I decided to tinker with unfamiliar hardware without doing a scrap of research You deserved to get burned. I hope you broke shit while being an idiot.
Brody Walker
WHAT IS OBSOLESCENCE?
Chase Fisher
Anti-Semitic savage animals deserve it.
Brandon Flores
>buying apple shit >ever
Carter Rogers
>>buying apple shit >>ever It frightens you because it's different.
Aaron Rivera
Macbook pro retina.
Dominic Morris
yes monkeys are different
Dominic White
Different always mean shit
Ian Hill
Indeed, this.
Adrian Brooks
>300x250 haha I love this new meme where you post thumbnails instead of proper images
Leo Kelly
It's not anything new. If you want a "good" laptop that is user serviceable, go with a business laptop. You won't get OS X (unless you want to Hackintosh), so you'll have to live with Windows or Linux or *BSD.
If you want OS X, you will have to live with proprietary parts and screws, unless you want hardware from 2012.
Apple doesn't want third party upgrades since they're a monopoly on hardware for OS X.
>since forever Nah, only recently have they gone full jew. My 2008 iMac for example is fully user serviceable. Socket P CPU, MXM GPU, DDR2 SODIMMs, SATA for the 3.5" and 5.25" bays, mPCIe Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card
Samuel Garcia
Love this meme where one merely pretends to be retarded
Caleb Allen
Be grateful the SSD is at least removable on that MBP.
Touchbar MBPs have SSD soldered onto the motherboard.
Ethan Baker
At this point you can get a replacement screen on ebay. You can either do that and have an OK laptop or you can sell it. People pay stupid money even for used Apple products.
His SSD is full man, he's had to downsize his entire meme (including reaction faces) folder to free up some space.
Jacob Lee
OP here I've been using an x230 for the past 3 year. I feel so moronic for ever giving apple that much money for a laptop.
Nathaniel Hill
>Are you retarded? He's a troll, so yes.
John Brooks
So you have to pay them to fix it. And when you bring it in they can convince you to just buy a new one. Apple is consumer cancer.
Ryder Nguyen
the plot thickens boys
>pci adapter comes >try to use ssd >doesn't fit >wrong adapter >use google >my ssd if for the 2012 mbp A1398 >adapter is for 2013 mbp A1398 >same model number >different laptop >ssd is now a different proprietary ssd
You cant make this shit up
Aiden Thompson
>>ssd is now a different proprietary ssd Designs evolve. New tech arrives on the scene. Sometimes they are incompatible. Would you rather that they used last year's tech on your shiny new dingus? Do your homework; you're supposed to be a Sup Forumstard yet you're floundering around like a normie.
Dylan Garcia
Yes because having the same model number for different laptops is normal practice.
(Why does every other manufacturer have standardised ssd's brainlet?)
Carter Brown
>Try to use laptop cooler in desktop >Doesn't work >Try to use laptop RAM in desktop >Doesn't work >Try to use laptop SSD in desktop >Doesn't work >Wow fucking Apple and their proprietary bullshit This is how retarded you sound.
Ayden Watson
>having the same model number for different laptops is normal practice
Have you ever researched any laptop? Or tech in general? Laptops have multiple suppliers for same laptops since forever. Driver nightmare
Brody Hill
>apple >100°C >not fahrenheit
Hahaha stupid burgers btfo'd
Luis Wood
I didn't know that. I've never owned a laptop before that didnt use mSATA, m2 or sata, so didn't really think to do that much research. Was only a tenner for the adaptor.
Wyatt Bailey
This is why you research your purchases.
And only buy the mid-2012 13" non-retina.
Robert Ramirez
I got a screwdriver set for $5 from harbor freight that had everything necessary to disassemble a macbook pro.
Maybe you're just dumb.
Caleb Sanders
I orered a screwdriver for a pound off ebay that was for the bottom, explain why that's dumb.
Cooper Anderson
why not just solder it? everything else in those POS' is soldered.
Oliver Anderson
>Paying absorbent prices to upgrade your SSD >$265 for 240GB
Okay
Lucas Nelson
>I did no research >I goof'd >I wasted my time >I wasted my money >HUUURRRR APPIL R DUM
This is either a made-up story, or you're too dumb to know what you're doing. Everyone knows Apple's own SSDs are custom as fuck. You're a retard.
Kevin Flores
When you have no real competition you can do whatever the fuck you want. Look what Nigvidia just did. If a company exists offering a total computer package of laptop plus native custom OS and a working ecosystem of other products with all of which being well established over many, many years, I'll buy it.
Until then Apple will continue to kike, and I will continue to buy.
