why should I not buy this
Cherry is shit.
i dunno man, look's pretty good.
Who T(poor)pre here?
Because I am going to.
I got the cherry MX blues
I currently have browns on a keyboard now and want to be able to have one that's significantly different
also, I tried one of my friends blues and found it really enjoyable
mines coming in the mail Tuesday so you better order single day shipping faggot unless you want to look like a poseur
What site did you order it from?
blues isn't going to be significantly different, will be clicky, but still tactile, will need to go for linears to get a significant difference,
mechanical keyboards dot com
Despite being a TKL its almost as big as a full size keyboard
because this would be the link
mechanicalkeyboards.com
>thick as fuck bezels
>space saving
anyone who is not a hipster faggot will buy the superior Model F instead.
Its saving space compared to this IBM keyboard
at the time yes but it is 1990 + 27 user
Represent
except my SSK was made before that keyboard, and why would you recommend the model F if its even older then both
i need a quiet TKL or ~68K and unfortunately the Matias offering has been in production for a trillion years
any suggestions? i would even be willing to buy a membrane board
ssk is overrated and overpriced. it is only popular because it looks cool t b h.
standard model m uses the same switch with more keys and a reasonable price.
regardless of its age, model f is far superior than its successor.
I also have a full size model M and I just wish its case was slimmer like the SSK. The thing that surprised me most about the model F is that its thinner then both
>being literally so retarded you pay a shit ton of money for a keyboard and a mouse just because it lights up and has 1 nanosecond faster response time.
Sup Forums is not about technology anymore,it became Sup Forums 2.0 a long time ago.
>30 bucks is a lot of money
I wish Sup Forums wasn't filled with poor people like you
>only one in stock is ergonomically weighted
gaymen mouse is more like $60~70 but yeah, niga is poor
is that in brazil? cause even a something like a logitech g402 is 30 bucks
Thanks, I'll consider it. The reason I was wanting 3 rather than 2 is just so it looks as close as possible to an ordinary TKL when the split halves are together, but I guess being able to find parts is more important. The ergodox is definitely an inspiration for a split design, but I don't want to re-learn how to type. I'll probably be copying the MCP23018 circuit and techniques for constructing a layered acrylic case from the ergodox, at least.
I'll post pics as I work on it (for some rare /mkg/ OC), but I need to make and measure some PCBs (for which I don't have all the parts yet) before I can even start working on the case.
yeah i'm definitely considering topre. any opinions on realforce v. hhkb?
>paying more for less keys
Why do tenkeyless fags do this?
no the newest shit are priced at $60 min. g402 is old and went from $60 to $42 currently on amazon us
Fellas, can I have some help?
I work in excel all day, and thus, would like a mechanical keyboard as they keyboard I work on is pure shite.
Ideally, it would be black, non-offensive (no lights, minimal/no branding, you get the score) and must have a numpad. I'm not super picky over specs so long as it feels like a mechanical keyboard should
The cheaper the better
I use a zowie keyboard that i got for free a long time ago and i like it. If there's nothing that can be rec'd, I support I can bring that keyboard into work and buy a new one for hime but id rather not?
realforce is tkl and hhkb is not.
fun fact: realforce is made by the Topre company
Ducky One with your preferred Cherry switch type
Steel sereis 6gv2 and Cherry g80-3000 can both be found for around 60-90 bucks
>feels like a mechanical keyboard should
If you're in the USA and are able to have a noisy keyboard at work, a new Unicomp Model M costs $85, has a numpad, and is a superb typing experience.
Are there low profile mechanical keyboards?
Everything I see is too thick for me.
Recently bought a 60% keyboard, thinking it was this top-tier shit for hardcore keyboard enthusiasts. I ended up selling it after a couple months of using it. I don't understand why anyone, especially someone who is into keyboards, would use this shit as their main keyboard at their workstation. It's so impractical if you don't need it for portability or whatever.
probably only going to get that if you get xda keycaps.
You got meme'd son.
Protip for the future: if you look at something and think "that looks impractical", chances are it's probably not the thing for you.
Ergonomics
if it isn't fully programmable then yeah, 60% is trash.
when you program it though, the keyboard feels more like yours and can even become more practical than a full sized one
TKL is smallest i'm willing to go, and that's only because I have a separate numpad as well.
>Have a keyboard you can travel with for work
or
>Buy TKL keyboard and stand alone numberpad then put numberpad on the right side of your mouse/left side of your keyboard where it'll be more ergonomic for you
At least this is how I see it. Also, good god, what the fuck did you do to that Swiss Army Knife?
the tada68 that's on aliexpress right now is pretty much the keyboard i want
however i would like specific keycaps
is there a kit without keycaps somewhere? i wouldn't mind soldering or buying switches seperatly
Which HHKB is best for gunposting?
>in 30 years, the *** keyboard will be as the model m is to the 2010s
Fill the blank.
Apple Magic Keyboard
White. Black HHKBs are shit, even QB knows this now.
Type-S
Which keycaps are those and where'd you get them?
am i out of luck?
Tai-Hao Lavender, and they can be found on massdrop or ebay
Thanks, they look very nice.
the keycaps on the TADA are already some of the best you can buy. anything else would most likely be a downgrade. That said most keycap sets from gateron, cherry, and tai-hao include the extra keys you need
Even a "desktop" macfag is donglin'
I'll be getting a razer orbmeme but I need to know what one is closer to brown, the orange or green switch? And will I be able to change some of these switches to gatheron red?
I think the orange are the silent ones, so they're probably an MX brown knockoff.
As for replacing some switches with Gaterons, shouldn't be too hard since they're all MX clones.
white type s
OK, then I'll try to get a stealth or silent or however they call it (I think they are the green ones) and just 10 gateron red.
Thanks user.
Is it personal preference or is there actually something wrong with the black versian?
do you care about aesthetics?
hi miles
Posting multiple M's and F's
less meme points
all professional mkg posters know white hhkb = most meme points possible. if u dont care about meme points u dont belong here
>f13-f24
20 points for anyone who can guess what software I work with that requires me to use these
Ehh my entire setup is black so I think black will be better
>he immediately goes for the lazy option rather than fixing his entire broken setup
Spotted the web developer
I'm currently using a Unicomp Model M and very happy with it, but i'm curious about whether there are any switch options out there which provide a lot of cushioning at the bottom of the keystroke. Basically I want the most cushioned possible bottoming out response. What should I look into, /mkg/?
topre
How's the endgame search going /mkg/?
Any particular topre switch have more cushioning at the bottom of the stroke than the others?
I agree, topre is very smooth and is basically a very soft cushioned key-stroke all the way down.
no
45g
Just bought a ck104. Roast me
Is there anywhere selling o-rings that are thick enough to prevent the key from reaching its activation point?
Has anyone built their own backlit keyboard using fiber optics rather than individual LEDs? If so, what do you use to "attach" the fiber optic cables to the original light source? (presumably a single bright LED)
In theory couldn't you just use two O rings?
Good point, thanks. Stupid question, I guess.
Cut a 1/4" section of plastic cable tube.
Slip it under the keycap and the key won't move.
dat beamspring
Mirin your industrials are all of them legit?
All are legit except the bottom left which has since been sold
I'm pretty new to mechanical keyboards
I fell for a meme and bought a retarded rgb gaymer keyboard, with browns which I quite like, but I realised that I literally never use the numpad, or the macro keys,so I think I want a 60%. What's a good 60% that comes with cherry browns or clears? I'd probably prefer something that doesn't have rgb lights, or doesn't have backlights at all.
pok3r
My 55g realforce feels like the keys in the middle have a higher actuation force than the keys near the edge. Is this normal?
Normal for topre cos topre is shit
>all these tkls and 60%
so do you not use these for work or...?
No I use them for work, its just that I'm not an accountant.
It's an underage millennial/ gen Y thing. You just have to accept the cancer.
I have a full size model M and wish I had a SSK. Why? Because the keyboard is fucking huge and the distance between homerow and the mouse is painful.
More like a baby boomer thing that was passed down through the generations. You talk as if TKL and 60% are a recent thing, when in fact its the opposite. Full size keyboards have only recently become popular, and back then the only people who used full size keyboards were admins or accountants. The average consumer didn't need a numpad back then
>You talk as if TKL and 60% are a recent thing,
I know you kids like to think special keyboards for terminals is mainstream but it's not.
It is a recent thing to use a baby keyboard for a desktop application.
No most computers come with small compact keyboards, Look at the best selling PCs and you'll see that full size keyboards are a recent thing.
>No most computers come with small compact keyboards,
bestbuy.com
All the computers on the first and second page of BestBuy's top selling basic PCs come with fullsize keyboards.
Dumb fucking gen Y kids man. Dumb as bricks.
Thanks for completely missing my point, but then again you are a dumb anime poster.
This how you handle getting proven wrong?
No we were talking about old computers, you're the one who brought up a list of modern PCs, and I do agree that full size keyboards now come on modern computers. I said that in my first post here. I thought you were capable of following a conversation, but I guess I should have been more specific, and I apologize. Again let me repeat this post if you look at the best selling PCs (this is in the context of old computers throughout the ages) you'll see that full size keyboards are a recent thing. DO you understand now, or should I animate it.
>I meant old PCs!

End yourself kiddo.
