B) It's done in an exceedingly small amount of cases
C) It doesn't just apply to foreign nationals of US allies but any country where the person entering is not a US Citizen
D) The British government makes it a separate crime to not provide your password to law enforcement and you can go to jail for contempt on not providing a password whereas the US would just deny you entry and send you home

They read all your locally saved emails, and if it is a cellphone they read all your text messages. They also write down all internet handles they can see in your browsing history or on your local machine. This is effectively the same. If you protect yourself against having this information on your machine, you can protect yourself from the social media password nonsense just as easily.
