Best text editor?

Best text editor?

What else is there but vim ?

Not yours ;^)

vim

the only best about that shit is the visual studio dark theme wich i use on sublime.

Honestly how can you """programers""" use editors written in html/css/js? You are laughing stock

Vim for quick edits, emacs daemon w/ evil for everything else.

ed is the only correct answer.

Sublime CIA Pony Edition

Vim is the best if you know what you're doing because you make it into exactly what you want a text editor to be/do.

Sublime Text is the best if you just want a text editor that does text editor things.

Emacs.

vim

pencil and paper anything else is bloat

echo

Geany

sed

Have you tried emacs with evil mode? It's like vim but with a better language to customize it with.

whats up with people shilling VSCode? I see these threads a couple times a day now, at least. I never believed in companies paying posters to create these threads on Sup Forums but this is eerie.

Mah nigga

Ed, man! !man ed.

Acme, no kidding

notepad

Shills will always exist. They don't need to be paid by a company, just have great pride in using (most likely misplaced) their products.

Is it even still maintained?

Atom

Whichever one you can drive with your eyes closed, because having the editing process in muscle memory lets you concentrate on the work you're doing instead of the tool your using.

it's a text editor, what maintenance needs?
Actually for one file editing I think Sam is superior

>ctrl+f
>no notepad++
It's like I'm on Sup Forums.

No but I feel like it would be kind of pointless since I would only end up with the same configuration. Have you gone from Vim to Emacs?

vim

brackets is pretttttay good for free stuff
loved textwrangler on os x before i went full gnu though

also yeah, this tbqh: if you need gui stuff, install gvim and slap on a vim config like spf-13 for a stellar experience

nano

Use sublime for most everything

Vim for quick edits

Not that one, that's for sure.

This

Mousepad

vim

Microsoft pays a marketing form to post about VSCode in most major tech forums, including reddit, and hackernews.

That was a half-assed attempt at english.

>5 billion posts about vim all the time in every thread
>no one questions it
>some retard spams about a new thing because it's new
>OH GOD COMPANIES ARE SHILLING ON Sup Forums HELP

Nano

That's because Vim has been around for 20 years and has cultivated an organic movement. There is also no corporation like Microsoft behind Vim.

It's not comparable.

The naive people are the people who can't see the obvious shilling going on right in front of them. You're literally stupid if you don't believe in shilling, not even trolling.

Leafpad

>spending hours configuring your text editor
linux is only free if your time is worthless

Time to trigger people
I use Visual Studio 2017 enterprise edition

>That's because Vim has been around for 20 years and has cultivated an organic movement.

>The naive people are the people who can't see the obvious shilling going on right in front of them
Imagine actually being this obtuse. Must be agony.

vim>emacs>>>wpe>nano>>>>>>>>>everything else

vim gets exponentially more comfy and powerful the more you read the manual. emacs gets linearly more comfy and powerful the more external code you add to it.

>but muh evil mode

so you admit that making emacs behave more like vim improves the editor?

I've never heard someone espouse the greatness of emacs in the context of text editing, only in terms of how much extra stuff you can add to it. I suppose for a windows user this might be appealing, but for most people the energy spent installing plugins would be better spent learning how to use the other tools already present on their machine.

(You)

what do they even gain?
the software is free, the code is foss, it doesn't even integrate with their paid software products so they can't convert people to MS ecosystem shit through VSC.

What is the best Go starter book?

Sublime I guess
