I voted xfce, and it categorized it as others. lol.

Xfce is amazingly versatile. You can make it a gray and teal AESTHETIC machine, or a minimalist arch anime weebshit loli screenfetch thing.

KDE
because i cant be botherd installing anything else

>using a desktop environment
It's like you're not even trying to be a 1337 h4XX0r.

Unity, of course.

Unity for maximum comfy.

Deprecated

I know, and it makes me sad.
I hope they make Gnome3 look and work exactly the same.

RIP discount macfags. reminder that no DE with window buttons on the left ever won in the end

I just spun around Gnome 3 the other day in a VM, it's honestly not that bad, pretty similar to Unity (which is obv built off Gnome 3). I think it will be easy transition for u guys but that top bar in Gnome 3... idk wtf they were thinking

everything built off Gnome 3 is better than it. Budgie, Cinnamon, Unity etc

Yfw the XFCE-creator now works on Gnome.

I do not like Gnome3.
I have tried it a number of times, but have never come to like it.

DEs is for brainlets

i don't blame you. i am sure that Ubuntu will come bundled with a tweaked version of it, because as it is rn by default, it's a huge downgrade from Unity

I'm not a fan either, I just said it's not THAT bad. it's not like... KDE bad

Xfce, but I think LXDE might be more lightweight and more customizable.
I didn't have time to check.
Can anyone confirm?

> wasting time with a de
> not having a tiling wm that can be navigated with keyboard only
ylife

>hey user, I just have to look something up real quick on PC
>wtf is this shit how do you start a browser???

> letting other people touch your shit
I may not be autistic enough to use wingdings as my font but it's nice that the average person has no clue how to use my machine. Worst-case-scenario I launch it for them and put it in fullscreen

KDE. Literally only de that looks good with breeze-dark theme. Also
>uniform look of gtk and qt apps.

window maker is comfy

xmonad

xfce

xfce shits cash money yo

*xfeeces

>tfw using gnome
Not proud of it, but Fedora just works for me.

>I seem to be the only one using LXDE

Not anymore as of posting there are three of us, you me and someone else. So hi. I guess.

That makes me number three

>Not using KDE
>Endless customization options
>You can either install a bare-bones version, or a fully featured environment
>I even allows you to configure hardware like gamepads and touchpads.
>A E S T H E T I C

That's the way GNU/Linux should be used like.

Windows 10, I don't use Linux

>>>/botnet/

lmaoing at y'all non-xfce plebs

DE?
Dick erecting?

Does anyone use vanilla Gnome? Do the Gnome devs even use vanilla Gnome?

I just installed it Yesterday while trying OpenSUSE and it's great! It looks nice, KDE Connect is finally something i havent seen anywhere else before, and it doesnt get in zur way of my Work Flow.

I only really have 2 Complaints:
1.You can't recursevly add your Wallpaper Folder
2.Some Buttons are dictated by the Desktop Theme

>GNOME leading
fucking nu-Sup Forums

>Mate at the bottom
Never thought I'd be a DE hipster. Bad enough being a CPU hipster with a 5775c.

>left

Sup Forums is an echo chamber where many people hate things for being popular, plus we are being raiding right now by GNOME shills so it is to be expected.

In other words this poll is as accurate as Trump's promise to not get involved in Syria.

KDE
>lot's of features and customization
>easy to understand interface for Windows users
>uses superior Qt
>thumbnails in filepicker

KDE because:
1. it looks good
2. To make full customization I don't have to install a fuckloads of addons ( hi gnome ) or google magical ways. I just go into the settings.

This is shameful.

Openbox and a tint2 panel have served me well enough.

KDE wins the popularity contest literally every year with a larger sample size then you will find here: linuxquestions.org/questions/2016-linuxquestions-org-members-choice-awards-123/desktop-environment-of-the-year-4175596299/

Anything else is autist-tier and/or pleb-tier

You can remove the top bar using an extension. Sucks that Gnome 3 is shit by default

Pantheon

i use xcfe its works like charm on my 2013 gayming lapton meanwhile kde doesnt work at all

I prefer xfce but don't use it personally anymore. The people to whom I introduce it find it familiar and attractive though.

Window Maker

budgie

This is beautiful
And it is xfce? is it debian?
Man...
If only it could do PS, Illustrator and games...

MS updates are killing me right now, I hate all OSystems

>vivaldi
neat

I never actively used a DE

Fluxbox

>plus we are being raiding right now by GNOME shills so it is to be expected
This is some next tier delusional shit.

It's literally on the left side. Are you retarded or something?

gnome because its the only good DE

why are there so many? you need like 2, tops

>no DE with window buttons on the left ever won
>Apple's DEs have been doing it this way longer than anything else currently in use
Yeah, okay buddy.

was running mate for a while but i always end up installing XFCE

>bottom panel

>Panel AND dock.
Disgusting

X

that's true of every DE except ones that have a dock or panel that cannot be removed. Xfce isn't special in that regard.

In KDE you can configure where the buttons are, which buttons to include, and what they look like

>Letting people use your computer
You sound like a cuck

Others: Deepin Desktop Environment
I recently tried Gnome and KDE again, but stuck with DDE

Breeze exists for GTK also and KDE lets you configure the GTK theme and font from the system settings panel. Getting a uniform look hasn't been an issue in years

>not opening a browser because you know that's why they want it anyway

>not using emacs as wm
>not using at least i3 as wm
>even bothering to post

how much of 'other'posters are i3 or the like?

Dwm

Why would I use anything other than XFCE?

I use i3 but voted Xfce

Are WMs that comfy? What WM should I try? I'm using XFCE at the moment.

voted for gnome.

>>>/reddit/

i3

1337 h4Xx0r/10

i3

keep in mind the ubuntu implementation is terrible

Why do more then one DE exist?

light/heavy spectrum
different implementations and focuses, e.g. Qt vs GTK

xfce of course

It's fine on Raspbian. Why would it be any worse on Ubuntu?

ubuntu is testing debian iirc

Because more than one preference exists

Mate on my Arch Linux

>1927 packages

You also have Unity installed?

You can compile it. I compile my own patched i3 on arch.

What do you patch?

To open new window at the right of my screen and not at the right of current window.

Not really. It's just openbox with a gay ass bar and some shit. It'd be better to just use openbox an add what you want.

Only the best DE

>no Lumina
Are you even trying, OP?
Sage and hide this shit.

Gnome :P
By fedora, for fedora.
Tips fedora.

i3

it literally says ubuntu in the screenfetch.
But that's basically debian, so you're kinda right.

If you really need PS and Illustrator then there is no great option for that

I feel like games is no longer an argument. it has a huge library of great games.
Sure it has less than windows, but so does xbox or ps4 or switch.
Its just like it's own console. I never heard a ps4 user complain he can't play halo...

>Its just like it's own console. I never heard a ps4 user complain he can't play halo...
this is a good point
i suppose it's just that the same hardware *can* run windows and the game in question, making it easier to 'blame' linux compared to your example

ANYONE

yea im reinstalling wit ARCH
What is the most used DE on this distro?
pretty much looking for the most supported
