FOSS recommendation for an SMS replacement? I don't need any shit like Signal, just something to replace the default SMS app to message friends.

Pretty sure SuperSU is proprietary. Meanwhile, the root management built into LineageOS seems to make a superuser app unnecessary, but I don't know if it's based on SuperSU or Superuser or something else.
Some other apps, not necessarily better, just the ones that I use and like. >Facebook Tinfoil for Facebook >Browser IceCatMobile Lightning >PDF reader Document Viewer >File browser Amaze >Terminal emulator Terminal Emulator >Desktop syncing KDE Connect

alpha version of fdroid is terrible Hope they will stop using that layout and get back to classic one.

I don't see a problem here. They specifically say the gathered information is stored onto your device and nowhere else. So you're botnetting yourself.

Takes minutes to update because the owner still has a gingerbread shit phone. Manual installation of outdated shit apps designed by 3 year olds with shit ui and shit functionality save a couple of exceptions that are already on the superior play store.

Fuck clover, it drains my 4000mah battery in half a day. I better use browser.
Samuel Nguyen
Interesting, but I haven't configured AFWall+ to allow that app to communicate with the internet
Hunter Lopez
that app doesn't require internet permission
I don't trust afwall that much Even if i blocked every system app internet access when i put automatic date it can still reach 2.android.pool.ntp.org
Robert Turner
Im not sure what you mean regarding automatic date but I can confirm that my apps need to be enabled in AFWall+ before they can do anything on the internet

Anyone know why some posts arent fully displayed in Clover? They are greyed out and I have to quote text to read them.
Thomas Wood

I need a comic and PDF Reader. Currently Using Moon Reader+ and Bubble Comic Reader

Filters? For some reason mine filter out random stuf unless I put them in quotes.
Mason Nguyen
i like ghost commander for a file explorer because i have a sftp server running on my lan and i can connect to this using it
Hunter Gutierrez
You used a filter, dummy.
Andrew Robinson
Thanks. Adding quotes to my filter fixed it

I'll also add conversations libretorrent afwall and adaway
Andrew Sullivan
Signal and Libretorrent.
Lincoln Young
signal can be used as a normal sms client

am i a fucking idiot for wanting to have all my music files on the sd card? i'm having a difficult time finding music players that will even let me choose a custom directory it looks for music in.
pretty good music player would be true to its name if it actually played the files in order and if development hasn't been dropped...

When are we getting a fucking launcher? Trebuchet is the only thing that comes close to a modern FOSS launcher and I'm not even sure how that would work on a stock ROM.
Joshua Adams
You completely missed the point of it. It removes the need for a play store and google account.

silverfish is the best

Signal isn't in fdroid and I question whether the server side code is open source because I haven't been able to find it
Jacob Sanders
VLC detects all my media on my SD card.
Austin Gonzalez
atomic is okay for irc client. was wondering if there was anything better.

Phonograph, which is in my opinion the best looking android music player available, recently became open source, it's not on fdroid at the moment but probably will be sooner or later.
There's a new one called Open Launcher, looks promising. It's still in alpha stage though.
Kayden Roberts
Is there any GOOD open source video player? mpv-android is still early and VLC is a buggy, slow piece of trash that refuses to stop scanning my music folder and won't let me exclude it from the media library scan folders (neither on 2.0.6 or 2.1.4 nighties).
he probably does it for the same reason i ran an ftp server on my headless server, or my 3ds, or my phat psp, or any other device i could get my hands on.
Mason Garcia
how can I automatically upload the downloaded apps?

Lightning is a shit and I don't need any Google services (even if open source) on my phone.
Connor Morris
Is there a way I can just remove google play services? I don't use google play.
Brody Brown
root your phone and uninstall all the google apps along with google play services
William Hill
Flash a ROM that doesn't come with GPS. If you still want to use official Google apps you can use microG which is an open source GPS reimplementation.
Henry Howard
KDE Connect or NextCloud or OwnCloud
Grayson Williams
Install a custom ROM that doesn't come with it.
I don't think that will work. it'll come back unless you really know wtf you are doing. Youd probably have to attack it at the filesystem level
Xavier Hill
You can get rid of all the google trash with something like titanium backup, i've done it before but it's more work that installing a custom rom with nogapps.
